Overall the resort itself is fairly clean, entertainment is failry sparse, lots of Karaoke and Elvis tributes.
The beach is a 5 min walk from the Windmills and is very nice, but beware the sand is very very hot, we got down there at 10ish and managed to get beds at the waters edge so we didn't burn our feet on the sand.
You can hire an umbrella and mats for the beds for £1.25 per item, the sea is lovely and cold and refreshing. We would definitely recommend staying at the Windmills and would visit again.

The resort of Pernera is roughly a 5 minute drive from Protaras. Very clean and suitable mainly for families. Young people most likely would appreciate the more bustling resort of Protaras but there are regular buses and taxis available. Plenty of restaurants, some good, some indifferent but most now geared for British tourists which is a shame. Not everyone wants chips with everything! Not a lot of entertainment apart from karaoke which is a nuisance. Some restaurants still offer Cypriot nights and these are usually advertised outside the restaurant. Most bars offer large screen TV for sports fans.
Pernera beach very good but just round the bay is a lovely little sports beach. Plenty of small coves for swimming though. You have to pay for sun beds.
I have been to this resort four times now and going back in October for a fifth. Once Cyprus gets in your system it won't let go of you!!!

Pernera is a bit hit and miss....Blackpool/Margate will best describe the shops.
Avoid the Windmill at all costs, Elvis every night!
The Nautilus Bar was by far the best and so friendly.
Knights Bar also good but had one bad meal there (Moussaka frozen and only half re heated) So probably second best to Nautilus.
On a positive note Pernera is a good place to base yourself, we then went along to Protaras in the evenings...always get the bus there and cab back if after 11pm

The main strip of Pernera is a 10/15 minute walk away.
However there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants along the way. At the end of Pernera strip theres a lovely little restaurant called Sparticus. Family run by brits Barry and Yvonne Steel. A real friendly place. Food was fantastic. Huge portions and really cheap. We ate there most nights. They couldnt do enough for us.
Hire a car and go to Konnos bay, just past Cape Greko. absolute paradise!
For a lively night out take a short taxi ride to Ayia Napa. The best restaurant ther is Clarabels near the square. You may have to wait for a table, but its worth it.
Overall, excellent holiday. going back in August!

If you like Elvis or Tom Jones then this is the place for you to visit ? Every bar has a tribute to them both.
Resort is a £5.00 each way taxi ride to protaris something we were not told when we booked.
Some good restuarants and some very dodgy cockroach infested ones, beware have a good look before you enter.

Pernera is a small quite location, very clean with several small sandy coves,it has plenty of bars if you want to stay local with a few restaurants.
Protarus is a slightly bigger area only a few minutes taxi ride away, or you can take the stuning beach path this is about 15 minutes walk, the beach here is large and sandy withsafe bathing.
There are anarray of watersports to be had. We will return here many more times be sure of that.
