Take a torch for night-time. Returning to the hotel at night is dangerous.

Get a ground room floor as it will help as there are no lifts to the other floors so it can be a bit of a walk with a pram.
Make sure on the strip you visit the Meze restaurant with the funny symbols in the name. It is one of the best Meze places in Protaras. Also Molti was a great restaurant to stay in.

Protaras was a nice 15-20 min walk along the beach from the Papantonia but i wouldn't advise you to walk that way in the dark as it is unlit,it was approx £4-5cyp for a taxi back from the Protaras strip.
The strip was very busy, lots of bars, retaurants and gift shops.
Sky Sports is shown in quite a few bars and if you look around you can get some good deals on your beer!

Protaras is an excellent resort with loads of great restaraunts and bars. Our favourite was The Love Boat great D.J. called Mario and different acts every night, hypnotist show was excellent.

Protaras - Cypriot word for a concrete neon-lit strip which could be anywhere in the Med. It's a one-way strip of mediocre restaurants and bars offering Full English for £2.50 and pints of John Smiths for £1. At night it turns into a traffic jam full of scooters and bumper to bumper cars. Nice if you like diesel fumes with your Meze.
It's not a threatening type of place by any means, but it's just not true Cyprus. Great shops for fake anything you can think of.
Good places to eat: Prince and Olympus.
Average place to eat: Divas.
Dreadful place to eat: Oscars.
Watch out for the Cypriot drivers! Courtesy does not feature.

The part of the resort we stayed in was not in the heart of protaras but was only a short bus journey away which cost 80 cents each or a taxi was 4 cyp.
There were a few shops and restaurants around the hotel but being all inclusive we didn't need much else.

Protaras is a very safe area to stay. We walked the main strip every night at ease. I walked by myself quite late at night without worry!!!
Very busy late at night with lots of bars and shops.
Be sure to go on boat trips,Captain Panikas to the left of the hotel (£6) on the beach, and the day long trip organised by Jonny at the hotel Ayias trias with Lombros!
That is something not to be missed.
Sandy well maintained beach. Beds and umbrellas are £1.25 per day. BE CAREFUL as you enter the sea as there a lots of rocks close to the waters edge. There are entry points to the left and right of the odessa, just check out where people are swimming.
Also , make the climb up to the church on the rock!
it's not as hard a climb as it looks and the views are spectacular.

Blackpool with sunshine.
What a dump, Noise, Noise, Noise. Kariaoke Bars on every corner, Football Hooligans roaming the streets, broken pavements, cars booming loud music all night long.
If Ayia Napa is worse god help us all.
I feel embarrassed to be English.

The beaches locally are disappointing. Its a 5 min walk to the sea. Rocky, TINY beach. 20 mins walk to next best beach, again, you can walk its length (horseshoe shaped) in 10 minutes. Get a car and drive somewhere better.
There are 2 themed bars/pubs, dedicated to the TV programme Only Fools and Horses. If you remember Monty Pythons Travel AGent sketch in the 70's... Watneys red barrel, fish and chips, Torremolinos, Torremolinos..well this is it. I'm not knocking it, if that's what you like, then go there.
If you wish to be resort bound, and to sit by the pool and be entertained by the Thomas Cook team, you will be fine. There's singing and dancing and participation, but do not expect to have too much else to do in the vicinity. A rebted car will solve your dilemma, there is little in the immediate vicinity to interest even the most bored holidaymaker

Very nice resort with a very friendly atmosphere, felt safe at all times even very late at night. Kareoke is a popular pastime and most bars on the strip indulge holiday makers (almost like being in an X factor audition at times), all good fun. Lots of tribute acts doing the circuit, Elvis etc plus comedy hypnotists, good laugh if you are prepared to let your hair down. Scuba diving in the area is spot on, watch out for the superb Moray eel at Green Bay. To be honest the only slight winge for us was the number of cigarette stubs pushed into the sand at the beach, but this seems to be everywhere now, come on smokers take a tin with you to put the butts in and make it nicer for everyone. Water at fig tree bay is clean (Blue flag award)and safe, good selection of water sports but kept separate from swimmers. Choice of trips available both water based and on land if you want to get out and about but not be hassled with hiring a car.

The resort of Protaras is great. It caters for every taste. There is so much to do in the resort for families and couples. This is the 2nd time I have been to this resort and will definately be back.

They have spent money here over the years improving the roads and pavements but it does seem a bit grubby in places. Pavements need a good steam clean and it would be lovely.
Family friendly resort with restaurants, bars etc to suit everyone, always felt safe walking around. Although not a cheap place to eat out or buy food for self catering so be prepared.
Beaches are lovely £1.25 CYP for sunbeds and umbrellas altough beach does get very busy at peak times and very, very hot.
