Take a torch for night-time. Returning to the hotel at night is dangerous.

Get a ground room floor as it will help as there are no lifts to the other floors so it can be a bit of a walk with a pram.
Make sure on the strip you visit the Meze restaurant with the funny symbols in the name. It is one of the best Meze places in Protaras. Also Molti was a great restaurant to stay in.

We clearly didn't do our homework properly prior to going to Cyprus. This place was like Blackpool in very intense heat. We expected to see more of the true Cyprus but obviously went to the wrong resort. Very much a resort for the Booze and Tattoo cliental.... and that was only the women !!

The main strip in Protaras is only a 10 minute "stroll" (could never be bothered to walk any faster) from the apartments. You will find many different restaurants and bars there. The further down the strip you go you will find the more livlier bars and clubs.
Do not go to the large Chinese restaurant with the Budda outside as it is over priced and the service is terrible. Indeed the food wasn't hot. There is an Italian restaurant up the stairs by the first fountain and although not strictly Italian the food was great and the staff were wounderful. If you want a proper Italian go right along the strip (McDonalds is at the end) and just before the Dancing Waters show (go its good and something different) on the right there is a brilliant Italian and we wish we had found it sooner. There is a Cypriot restaurant on your left, just before Stonehenge Bar, that does authentic Cypriot meals. Lovely but be warned the portions are HUGE!!!!
Just as you turn the corner onto the strip (travelling from the apartments), after Divas restaurant there is La Pas bar. Go there as the staff are wounderful and really friendly and always go out of their way to speak to you, even if you are just walking past.
Don't waste your money on taxis, catch the bus as they are a lot cheaper. There is a bus about every 15 mins. It would cost you 9 cyp to go to the waterpark in Ayia Napa and only 80 cent on the bus, plus keep your bus ticket as you get money off your entrance fee.
Everybody slags Larnaca airport the key is to try and get flights at good times. We arrived at 4pm and left at 4am. No queue on either arrival or departure. We have however heard that queues can be so big you are queuing out of the aiport in the blazing sun.
Enjoy your holiday if you are reading this, wish we were back already!!!!

Great for families and really everyone who wants a resort with plenty to do but not a huge place like Ayia Nappa. Loads of restaurants - Japanese , Chinese, Mexican, Italian, Greek and even a McDonalds for those of you who like them (ewwwww) Plenty bars and supermarkets too. Found eating out to be about the same price as back home but wasnt a problem as had heard about this and budgeted anyway. Beaches were lovely and so clean once theyd cleard up in the morning. Water so clear and so many fish!! Fig tree bay beach very nice but quite small and to be honest the beach just accross the road was as nice and bigger too. We did loads of trips etc which were all great. Glass bottom boat, Jeep safari, Coach trip to Famagusto "ghost town", water park at Ayia Nappa and jet skis. Also take a walk up to the little church. Loads of stairs but really nice and great views all over resort.
All in all, we had a great time. Probably the best holiday we've had but rememeber its what u make it as well as some people will never be happy!
Hope this has been helpful and hope you have a great time as well

Protaras was okay if you liked Elvis..
the weather was great, the shops sell all the same things you would find in Spain , Turkey all the same ornaments, ect.
the wee bars have karaoke,i especially liked the sphinx bar lovely ,with leather seats, egyptian theme..
if you want Mcdonalds ,KFC,. the magic dancing waters show was well worth the money. and if you go to aya napa the water world is great..

Resort is in a friendly area 20-30 minute walk from Protarus, there is a regular bus service to Protarus and Ayia Napa, taxi’s are reasonably, may want to go into Protarus 1 twice. About 5 or 6 different eating places. If self catering food has gone up in price there is a very cheap supermarket on way into Paralimini (on left) which all the locals use upto half price of resort shops.
Nearest beach a 5 minute walk away better beaches further afield by car.

Protaras is the best resort ever once you come here once you come again.
The resort is very clean and safe, lots of good entertainment.
My favourite bar being fools and horses. There is a few too many elvis tributes though. and crap kareoke singers.
The beach is great. Especially Fig Tree Bay. Very clean. I've visited this resort 5 times and will return.

I found the resort very quiet as I am quite young myself I think that families and couples would enjoy the entertainment.
We mostly went to Aiya Napa alot as we enjoyed the night life there.
The food here is lovely but abit pricey so I would advise to save alot before going.

Protarus seems to have sprung up from a strip of hotels along the beach. One long road packed with the usual tourist restaurants, clubs, bars, supermarkets and souvenir shops. There's plenty to do for all ages with a funfair down one end,and a minitrain, crazy golf, a lazer light show theatre etc in addition to lots of clubs. The strip itself is a pretty enough walk with water fountains etc in places. There are a couple of beaches - fig tree bay is very small, and we preferred the main long beach which runs parallel to the main resort road.
There are plenty of water sports available, with little jetties lined with pedalos, banana boats etc at intervals along the beach. The local boat trips are good value - we even saw dolphins!
Beach gets very busy at the week-ends, when groups of teenagers descend to play ball games at the waters edge - so if you don't want to get hit by stray balls, hire a pedalo and explore, or go on your trips at the weekend.
We travelled as a small family, and we all loved Protarus. It would suit families, couples, or groups. We like to visit different places each year, but would definitely recommend Protarus to our friends.
