Take a torch for night-time. Returning to the hotel at night is dangerous.

Get a ground room floor as it will help as there are no lifts to the other floors so it can be a bit of a walk with a pram.
Make sure on the strip you visit the Meze restaurant with the funny symbols in the name. It is one of the best Meze places in Protaras. Also Molti was a great restaurant to stay in.

we were located on the outskirts of protaras which was very quiet but friendly and clean. we were a 20 minute walk to the centre of protaras which had loads of entertainment for all the family from karaoke bars, live shows and arcades and games for the children too. the golden sand and clear blue waters were ideal for sun seekers as well as active people with snorkling and many water sports available.

The resort was small with a few shops The beach needed a make-over.
We travelled by bus to Protaris and Paralimni. The buses were not very reliable and sometimes cut out altogether.
It would have been nice to have a bus stop nearer to the Hotel.

excellent all round for families and couples alike.

The resort itself was nice and clean, binmen turning up every morning at 4.30am!! Also seen street cleaners on a regular basis.
The beaches were excellent, particularly Fig Tree Bay and Nissi Bay.
Loads of watersports to choose from but quite expensive.

The resort is great, not too big or over crowded.
Entertainment is ok and there are a lot of differant acts to pick from. The beach is top class with lots of water sports to choose from, top class location.

Protaras is a very good resort, although it is starting to attract the rougher elements that you'd expect to find in Ayia Napa.

Very nice resort, beautiful beaches, fab weather and freindly people.
Would recommend this resort to people looking for a very relaxed holiday!

The resort its self was probably still a bit quiet when we stayed, but every bar has some sort of tribute act on... Elvis, Robbie and Tom Jones etc!
The apts we stayed in were right in the centre, a few mins from the beach. The beach and all the streets of Protaras were very clean. Nice resort.
Food wise if you are self catering, best Breakfast - Cheers Bar. Best Evening Meal - Adamas or Nicolas.
PS - Dont go on an Oxon on the sea... they're far too slow, get a jet ski!!!

We stayed in Pernera, just outside of Protaras
There is a small bay area close by, small shingle and sand (sea temp was very cold!) so we didn’t venture into it, can hire sunbeds for £1.25 and same price for umbrellas, (same prices on the main beach in Protaras and Fig Tree Bay also). Good safe area for children to paddle though, and to head off with little fishing nets/crabbing. Safe, clean and it was quiet. You can also venture into using the facilities at the nearby hotels, (Tsokkos hotels too) and even at the Blue Spice you can use their small pool and sunbeds free if you eat/drink there.
There are some excellent places to eat nearby, Blue Spice was wonderful, and Only Fools and Horses Pub in Pernera did a good breakfast for CYP£2. Most of our meals were eaten at the Anatolia restaurant, wonderful food, wonderful friendly staff, and a great atmosphere. It was always busy and a lot of locals ate there too which we always took as a good sign. We did not have one bad meal here, the stifado and the tavas were beautiful, and the portions were excellent. I cannot recommend this place enough. We also ate at Nicholas Tavern, we did enjoy it here, but it didn’t compare to the Anatolia. We also tried the chinese on the main strip near to Macdonalds and the food was ok, little dry and a little cold, but still tasty and edible. Having a 5 year old who is fussy, there was no problem being able to eat in Cyprus. We only in our 11 days, only ventured near Macdonalds once and that was after we came out from the Magic Fountain show. But lots of places to choose from. We ate breakfast several times at I think it was Friends in Protaras, the food was excellent, the orange juice beautiful! All in all, we didn’t have a bad meal in Protaras, one mixed in Ayia Napa, but there was always lots to choose from, and excellent value too.
Being in Protaras/Pernera was a bit like “brits abroad” and walking down the main strip area, you could be anywhere with good weather. On saying that, we hired a car (petsas.com EXCELLENT!) and when we got out and ventured around the island, visiting and seeing the real Cyprus was wonderful. There were a lot of people who we spoke to who were first time people to Protaras, and there were a fair few who were disappointed at how British based it is, if you are looking for traditional, protaras isn’t that, but there is a lot to do and its an excellent base
We booked our trips through Tsilivi (or something) travel, they have a branch just up from the Blue Spice in Pernera and also several down the main strip, friendly, well organised and good value. Far better than booking through the reps, their car hire and the trips were very over priced, highly recommend not booking through the reps and booking elsewhere. We had a fab off road jeep safari up the Troodos mountains, (not for the faint hearted tho) Also highly recommend Waterworld, a great day out for everyone, its not even worth visiting the small protaras water park which is very poor in comparison
All in all the weather was great, we had a good holiday….and got to see a lot of Cyprus. Some great beaches and bays, Fig Tree bay is lovely, and so is Macronissos bay which is near to the Waterworld water park just along from Ayia Napa.

Protaras is compact with plenty of bars and restaurants.
food and drink are not cheap.
The main strip is slightly boring, with restaurant after restaurant. There are no gift shops or arcades or bars to break it up. My advice would be to go to a hotel with entertainment.
Top tip: Be seated in a restaurnt by 9.30pm, all restaurnts are closed by 10.30pm.
