Get a ground room floor as it will help as there are no lifts to the other floors so it can be a bit of a walk with a pram. Make sure on the strip you visit the Meze restaurant with the funny symbols in the name. It is one of the best Meze places in Protaras. Also Molti was a great restaurant to stay in.

Stayed in the Protaras area, and must admit thought it a bit of a dump on first impressions... however the place really did grow on us, people were so friendly and there plenty of really nice places to eat, an excellent choice of just about everything.

The beach was great, cheapest i've ever paid for sunbeds etc and the sea was wonderfully clean. Slight downfall is the fact smokers insist on stubbing there fags out in the sand, loads of dogends everywhere which was such a shame.

The bars were pretty good, but sadly the entertainment was pretty awful to say the least. Only saw one act that was any good which was a elvis act, a young guy Lewis Hill i think he was called. Otherwise the rest was pretty rubbish.

The hotel is classed as being in Protaras but its is 5klm away from this resort. Protaras is very nice with nice beaches and a nice prom with plenty of bars and shops Penera is only 1/2 hour walk form the hotel and this is nice because it has nice beaches and a few nice shops.

The hotel has nothing around it, as they are doing a lot of building work around the hotel.

Having stayed in the Anastasia the year before, and enjoyed it, the facilities in this hotel were better. It was a typical major group hotel - all Tsokkos have the same menus etc.

The food was just above average and there was a good choice of meals available. The best menu is the blue snack menu available from mid to late afternoon, but this is not advertised.

Rooms were basic and clean with everything you needed. Staff were very good to poor and this was down to their lack of English, but the ones that could speak english were very good.

Entertainment was totally naff but there are a few good bars on your doorstep, with Pernerna a 10 min walk and Protaras a CYp£5 taxi ride. Overall a very good holiday - but do not accept a room on the 4th floor as there is a very noisy generator or air conditioning unit on the roof.

Resort was very clean.
If you are quite young I would advise going to the Robin Hood Pub at nights as it has great atmosphere and music, but it doesnt usually get lively until about 11 or 12. When that shuts we moved onto Boogies nightclub along the road. Lots of wild nights spent there.
However, Protaras isnt only for young people as they are really the only two places which are not really for older people. Lots of bars and quiz nights and elvis entertainers.
Promises restaurant is fantastic. When we went the first night it was quite quiet and the waiters were hilarious with great personalitys. The second time we went they were busy so not as funny but still great fun.
Beach is lovely, beachside hotels looked beautiful.
I would recomend Protaras.

There is evidently a lot of building work going on in this part of Cyprus at the moment. They do not seem to finish properties by landscaping, found it to appear very brown and barren.

With regard to resort entertainment, bearing in mind that both Steve and I are 45 and we would estimate that 80% of the other guests at the hotel were our age or over, we found the entertainment staff very young and inexperienced and the activities extremely repetative.

With reagrd to the beach, there is a total misrepresentation in the holidy brochure from which we booked, it is descrived as a beautifull sandy cove, it is shingle, dirty and getting in and out of the sea is hazardous as it is very rocky.

Will definetly NOT visit this resort again

Protaras is commercialised - where isnt? But once you look beyond the 'english orientated' restaurants and bars, there are some nice looking places with traditional food.
However the beach, whilst a bit pebbly and shelves a bit was good. Walk round to Fig Tree Bay - about 15 mins with trailing kids and its lovely....imagine it would be very busy in the height of season. Still very choppy sea mind you...
For the ultimate beach, get the bus to Nissi Beach (about 25 mins and 70 cents each) - it is fantastic. Words cannot describe - pale sand, shallow crystal clear water - wonderful. This is where I would holiday again.

I can't really say much more about the fact that the resort has every thing you need if for a quiet stay or a fun packed one with all the water sports.

It has lots of karoke bars and if you dont like Elvis then its maybe not the one for you.

The Malama is not actually in what is clasified as Protarus which is about 5 miles away. To get there is a return taxi ride of 12 Cypriot Pounds (approx £15 Sterling). When we venutured into Protarus I was sorely disapointed in that it a basically a cosmapolitan British town with the usual Mcdonalds/Pizza Hut/Indian resturant etc. Try finding any true local food and you will be dissapointed.

We did actually wal up the road from malama into Paralimini/Kapparis and find an excellent local Taverna (Karas) which did serve some excellent local food and was clearly very popular with people who appreciated that type of menu. Elsewhere the usually experience of Britich and Irish bars was to be found.

Overall I was very dissapointed with the location. This was my first visit to Cypus and found that it did not compare with other areas of Turkey which we have visited such as Kalkan/Gocek etc and thus left us very dissapointed

Protaras is a great resort for shopping and eating, Fig tree bay has a fantastic beach with lovely golden sand and plenty of water sports. If you are an Elvis fan go to Bells bar Opposite the Vrissiana hotel it is great, and if your not an Elvis fan, still go you will have a great laugh. I would highly recommend a trip to the water park in Aiya Napa its a fantastic day out for children and adults we had wonderful days there on both our visits to cyprus this year.
