Take a torch for night-time. Returning to the hotel at night is dangerous.

Get a ground room floor as it will help as there are no lifts to the other floors so it can be a bit of a walk with a pram. Make sure on the strip you visit the Meze restaurant with the funny symbols in the name. It is one of the best Meze places in Protaras. Also Molti was a great restaurant to stay in.

We found the resort itself extremely clean and well kept and the selection of bars & restaurants were superb and offered both great family entertainment, with Elvis impersonators and karaoke but also something extra for those who really wanted to party!
There are a wide range of food varieties available from Italian & Brazilian right through to McDonalds & Pizza Hut for the less adventurous or those missing home! Also lots of places offering traditional dishes aswell.
Protaras is also a short taxi ride away from the resort of Ayia Napa which also is definately worth visiting even if just the once.

Protaras is an excellent resort - it is simple to navigate around, with the vast majority of bars, shops, restaurants focused on one single 'strip'. There is a vast selection of restaurants: Italian, Chinese, Indian, Mexican, and several good steakhouses.

There is also many bars (some themed) serving good value cocktails and drinks, and showing live sports events, and you can expect many to do karaoke, live singing, the works. Very friendly resort and locals who will always help. There is also a handful of clubs, but not many. If you need it, there is also a McDonalds.

Excellent location for exploring this corner of Cyprus, with Waterworld Waterpark and Ayia Napa between 15 and 25 minutes away, and Cape Greko is near too. The town of Paralimni is also worth a look, as is the border town of Derynia, the nearest point where you can view the Ghost City of Ammochostos, or Famagusta, occupied since the 1974 Turkish invasion.

Top place, book now!

its a very lively but nice resort, alot of kareoke bars and they are mad on elvis out there.thers a fantastic majical dancing water show to visit at the night time (worth seeing)
the sea water is crystal clear and the beaches are golden sand and very hot.plenty of restaurants. i found the prices over ther to be the same as over here,if not more on some things. here pint lager £2, there pint lager £2.50.so be warned. if you take £1000.english your really taking £800.by the time youve changed it over into cyprus pounds as thy charge more or less the same as over here

Pernera & Protaras were kept clean & Entertainment good. Beaches were not that big in Pernera but clean. Best beach is in Protaras or Ayia Napa.

In summary, Pernera good, Protaras excellent.

Protaras is a lovely resort with plenty going on. The kids will love McDonalds and Pizza Hut, there are plenty of things for them to do in the evening e.g. trampolines and parks with amusements and crazy golf etc. It feels very safe and we did not see any trouble at all.

The resort area of Pernera has a small beach, which is not particularly special; travel instead to the Ayia Napa beaches, or better still to Fig Tree Bay (at Protaras), which is outstanding (blue flag). It is not as crowded as the Ayia Napa beaches, and is heavily used by the local Cypriots, always a good feature. The resort entertainment is the usual British fare. We would definetly visit the resort again; but hire a car and make use of the whole area, from visiting the WaterWorld at Ayia Napa (excellent), Derynia, etc...

The resort was very good, and situated nicely at the end away from all the hustle and bustle, but was a very short walk to find all the shops and bars and gift shops etc in the centre of protaras.
My one and only concern was the amount of children walking round with pieces of cotton wool shoved in their ears due to ear infections,we were no exception two of my sons both got ear infections and a lot of parents were concerned about the quality of the pool water of either the indoor or outdoor pool, but apart from that we had a fantastic holiday and would definately return.

The hotel is situated outside the Pernera area of Protaras. The Pernera has numerous bars and restaurants a visit to Knight's pub is worth it.The Windmill pub is also good. Most of the pub's have acts on or karaoke and of course Elvis is there!!there is a small lunar park with mini golf which is very reasonably priced at £1.50 per person. There are also numerous shops and a chemist.Protaras is a lot bigger and louder. A must is Flinstones bar where only lousy singers can sit in the Flinstones car and belt out a tune this includes children. The food is good, the entertainment is good and it truly is a family pub.A visit to the sfinx pub is amust also. Lots of lunar parks for the kid's with mini golf and boats and amusements and a great trampoline area along the main street. Plenty shops, pubs restaurants and the Dancing waters a must if you haven't seen them before starts at 9pm and can get very busy, bar and restaurant inside also. The beaches are clean and have plenty watersports which are reasonably priced try the flyfish a huge inflatable airbed that lifts right out of the water with you attached - wicked!!Also a must is the undersea adventure situated in the Pernera area next to the pernera beach hotel. If your feeling really brave take a trip to Nissi Beach in Ayia Napa and go Bungee jumping!!!!This was our 4th year in Cyprus and it just gets better each time.
