Get a ground room floor as it will help as there are no lifts to the other floors so it can be a bit of a walk with a pram. Make sure on the strip you visit the Meze restaurant with the funny symbols in the name. It is one of the best Meze places in Protaras. Also Molti was a great restaurant to stay in.

Fig Tree Bay is a brilliant beach with lots of water sports to choose from, the flying fish is a must.

It pays to shop around to Exchange you money, the bank charged more commission than some of the little Cambio de changes so shop around.

The main strip in now one way and full of bars and places to eat. There are plenty of bars and resturants to choose from for the evening, the Yianna Marie was good value and excellent food and the Italian resturant opposite the Flora bar was also good value the food excellent also.

We are definitely going back in 2005. Great place, great people.

Great holiday resort for couples and families. Only a couple of restaurants have play areas for children so can be difficult to eat out if you have very young children (grabbing candles and screaming fits!). Great when you are trying to eat and your little one is giving you stress! The restaurants which do have play areas are great though.

The beach was a bit disappointing - you will find millions of fag ends! Otherwise the sea is lovely and warm for kids and the watersports are excellent.

Pubs are good and all staff are friendly and all the locals love kids.

The resort is ideal for families, friends and couples. It has many restaurants and bars. There is a waterpark close by, childrens playgrounds, and crazy golf for younger members of the family. The resort is safe and friendly enough for young teenagers to get around on their own. The beach is absolutely fantastic and the focal point of the resort.

Protaras is a fantastic family resort although I would still recommend it to couples, and young groups as there are plenty of bars, restaurants and clubs to keep everyone happy.

There are a few themed bars such as Friends (which DOES constantly show episodes of Friends all day, Only Fools and Horses and the Cheers bar where the staff are dead friendly!

Waves bar is great as well, and Anatolias restaurant where the food is gorgeous and the staff can't do enough for you!

Overall though we think Protaras is excellent that's why we are going back in 3 weeks and we have already booked to stay again at the Brilliant apartments next year!!

Protaras, and indeed Pernera, within walking distance from Protaras, are both lovely resorts. We stopped near Fig Tree Bay..... what a lovely Beach that is! Be warned though, the Beach can become very crowded, especially on weekends when the local Cypriots take it over.Maouris Apts are in a great location. You have plenty of Bars, Restaurants to choose from, aswell as shops, supermarkets. The resort itself, was found by us to be very clean. They have made the traffic one way now, and they have really brightend it up, with lovely water features, flowers etc. Protaras is lovely, but be warned.... you have to love Elvis.... there are imitators everywhere! We have booked again for Protaras next year..... the Andreotis, which are actually located over the road from the Maouris Apts. Cant wait to return..... we have to show my inlaws what they have been missing!

Great for families with children if you like typical English seaside resorts, a few too many karaoke bars, the food and shops are a similar price to UK prices if not slightly more expensive. This is a typical Spanish-like brits abroad type resort with Only fools a horses on in every other bar. The local people are very friendly and obviously appreciate your custom and so too the beach and its facilities, crystal clear waters and very hot sands, excellent water sports and plently of sunbeds. One word of warning about the glass bottom boat, the glass is only a 4 x 2 foot glass window that needs cleaning.

Resort itself is lovely and clean. Rising Star is situated in a quiet area, but only a few minutes walk to centre. Ideal.
Nice Bars and resturants to chose from and did not have any bad meals.
Beach tends to be quite rocky outside Hotel, but within a few minutes walk up the beach Fine.

If you are looking for a beach based holiday, Protatas is excellent, with two very good beaches, with lots of facilities and lovely clear water.
The resort itself is purpose built, so don't expect any quaint local charm. It is clean, if a little soulless.
The entertainment tends to be in bars and many of these seems to be Karoake bars. A bit more variety wouldn't go amiss.
There is a good choice of restaurants, some great, some average (a bit like most places)and cocktails bars (avoid Ripples where the cocktails seem to have no alcohol).
We were there during Euro 2004, so during England matches the place was a bit raucous, but it all seemed good natured enough.
I would go back to Protaras, mainly for the beach. I would also hire a car, to see about the island a bit. Don't waste your time on organised trips, as you will spend more time on a coach picking people up from all over the place than you do at your destination.

We stayed a little way out of the centre of Protaras.
Protaras itself is a nice resort, mainly consisting of one road running down to the beach of Fig Tree Bay area, lined with shops and bars. There were all the usual 'Only fools and Horses' type bars etc and a McDonalds, but plenty of nicer bars and restaurants too. It was in my opinion a nice resort that i wouldnt hesitate to visit again but i would have liked to be a little nearer to the centre.
