Take a torch for night-time. Returning to the hotel at night is dangerous.

Get a ground room floor as it will help as there are no lifts to the other floors so it can be a bit of a walk with a pram.
Make sure on the strip you visit the Meze restaurant with the funny symbols in the name. It is one of the best Meze places in Protaras. Also Molti was a great restaurant to stay in.

Beaches

The resort was very clean and it consists of a strip which makes everything very easy to find, however do go for walks to discover lovely restaurants in backs streets (such as anemos, down by the capo bay hotel) There are a wide variety of bars, (out favourite being the friends bar for the lovely cocktails) the majority of the bars do karaoke which isnt our cup of tea but were always busy. Wide variety of restaurants, italian, mexican, chinese. Beaches were nice, however very busy and we preferred to sit by the pool. All in all a lovely resort, but if you want to see the real cyprus this is not for you!!

Lots of restaurants and bars for most purses and tastes. If you like Elvis you're in for a treat as there are two on the 'Strip'. Cocktail bars aplenty.

Protaras is very clean. Loads of restaurants to choose from. Particularly liked Yianna Marie (near the rising star apartments) Anatola (turn right at mcdonalds up side street and then right again at the top)and also Anemos near the capo bay hotel.
Most of the bars we visited were OK quite a few had karaoke. Ripples bar served nice pint of John Smiths (according to hubby)
Fig tree beach is absolutely gorgeous and has the clearest sea I have ever seen. My hubby and sons went snorkelling and they think it's the best they've ever done.

The resort is very spread out and so the tourists are a little lost in it. It was €2-£1CYP when exchanging money out there but in Ireland it was €1.50-£1CYP. This made things very expensive for Euro currency tourists. The restaurants were only average and although I was there with my parents I still found the night life poor.
You have to be very careful with the local bars. A lot of them try to short change you especially after a few drinks. We got short changed twice, one barman even made a big scene when questioned and tried to embarass us.
Overall the resort was nothing special. Very man made and you could be in any tourist resort in Europe.

The tsokkos gardens is in the pernera area of protaras and is quite quiet although the centre is only a five minute drive away, along with the beach at fig tree bay which is well worth a visit.protaras itself is very lively with lots of pubs, restaurants and shops and really comes to life in the evenings.we would definately visit cyprus again staying perhaps a little closer to protaras centre as the people are very nice and the weather is very hot!

The resort of Protaras (10 mins away from our hotel by foot) was great, we were on a b&b basis so ate out every night and for the entire length of our stay had a very high-quality food available to us. There are many bars/restaurants in Protaras all offering different entertainment, for most tastes (even a restaurant that serves dishes such as alligator!). We went to Fig Tree Bay while we were there and it is a wonderful beach - clean and clear. I definately want to go back to Protaras one day.

As we travelled with young children we only really visited family bars/restaurants.
I felt very safe when out shopping alone etc.
Lots of shops to browse in, did by some cheap designer sunglases from the opticians.
food and drink good value for money, with a wide variety of places to eat and drink.

We visited Protaras, Ayia napa, Limassol and Paphos. In my opinion Protaras is the best!
Limassol beach is more black sand and water not as blue, Paphos is stony and Ayia Napa is for the nippers.(nissi beach is lovely though)
Protaras is suitable for all ages - young to old.
Food wise (being married to a Greek Cypriot myself I recommend Nicks tavern towards the end of the one way strip.
