The resort was quiet, with just a few bars and restaurants and supermarkets in it, but we knew that and they were very good ones.
A taxi ride of 6 euros takes you into Hersonnisos which we liked very much. Loads of shops, bars and restaurants, although at approximately midnight the clubs and streets start filling up with youngsters which we found a little intimidating.
The beach directly outside the hotel is a small shingle one with umbrellas. There was a newly built jetty, which we loved as it was great as a platform to go snorkelling - sea was crystal clear. However, there was only 1 pedaloe and a couple of canoes - no mechanised water sports,

The resort was very lively with lots of shops, bars and restaurants.
There are not many sand beaches and those that exist are not very big.

We were in between Hersonissos and Stalis, both of which were lively, entertaining resorts, catering for all ages and tastes. The beaches at both resorts were clean, there were always plenty of sun beds and umbrellas to be had.
Would definately go to both resorts again.

Hersonissos resort is very lively and great for young families and couples. The beach resort has everything - a waterpark, bungi jumping, watersports, bars, restaurants, clubs - more for the younger end.
The old town up the hill is beautiful with an abundance of charm and narrow greek streets. Lots of lovely tavernas and a relaxing place to spend time.

Gorty’s the local shop at the bottom of the hill is great. Lovely people who make their own honey, wine, raki and olive oil. They also own the Zorba’s taverna at the bottom of the hill and make some great meals, adjoining the taverna is a freshwater swimming pool that you can use free of charge.
The beach in Stalis is much better and less crowded than the one in Hersonissos but your may have to pay to hire the sunbeds. If your missing home cooking the Robin Hood in Stalis is great value for money too.
Crete is a lovely island but the Semiramis Village should be appearing on a Holiday from Hell on a screen near your shortly!

I loved Hersonissos I went on a single girls holiday. You should eat at Johnny's restaurant in the main street and the temple bar and Shenanigans are class!
Beware the rocks in the water at the beach I really hurt myself. If you walk to the end of Knossos beach it is rock free and really beautiful!
You have to pay around 3 euros for a sun lounger at the beach though there is something happening in every bar.

Hersonissos was a lovely resort, lots of nightlife but not too much and the people were all very friendly. Lots of lovely restaurants right on the beech and lots and lots of shops to buy thigs in. The resort was always clean and the weather was lovely.
