A family resort with a huge choice of bars/eateries, contained in one long strip which make for a good after-dinner walk with plenty of shops to browse. stalis also has a very long nice beach with lots of sun lougers...some of which come with a free toastie. I cerainly recommend.

Stalis was clean and friendly with quiet tavernas, bars and clubs, perfect for families and a nice alternative to the rowdy Malia.
Beach was lovely, the general area could have been cleaner though we weren't sure if this was down to tourists or the locals with litter dotted everywhere.

stalis is very noisy with quad bikes up and down beach road all day and night but there are plenty of bars and resteraunts that offer good value for money food. The beaches are first class and cleaned daily.
Lots of nick nack shops if you like collecting souvenirs

Stalis - Aprt from dodging the Quad bikes this is an Excellant base to exployer the Isle of Crete.
The Main street has a ban on Quads after 7 oclock..
It has plenty of Bars to try - Vilisakis Bar was one we spent many hours in, Manos and his family even organised a BBQ for us to sample a BBQ Greek style.
On the main street - Minos eating house was one of the best we found for quaility food and for the entertainment value - Billy the Greek (a dead ringer for a Jerry Springer looky likey) had the pleasure of our company most nights . After several Rakis then Ouzo you stagger off back to your hotel.
Cost of food is roughly the same in any of the bars and Restraunts, and every taste is catered for so something for everyone.
Beach was clean and not a rip off - 3 euros for all day use of 2 sunbeds and a table & Umbrella.. Bargain !!h
Malia the lively part of Crete is just 5 mins on the bus. If you are a people watcher then this is the place to go .. I will say no more
The place still pumps out music until 5 in the morning and people staggering home in wee hours is most common.
Take the Happy Train in to the mountains this is well worth the trip ( but watch out for the old guy that sells you Raki instead of water )

Lovely area, close to Malia for the nights, but far enough away to have nice days to do your own thing and remember that you are on holiday for more than to sleep off a hangover in the sun!!

the beach around us was very clean and at a very high standard. there were lots of bars that were offering nightly entertainment, and some for just relaxing and having a drink

Stalis is a lovely resort with plenty of eating places. It was fairly quiet when we were there from 02/06 to 17/06 2009. The "Amici" Italian at the other end of resort is excellent as is "Sergiani" and "Anytime" but we never had a bad meal anywhere.

Greece at it's Greekest - keep away from the strip at malia if you are over 17 and watch for the quad bikes on the coast road
