Lassi is the main resort on Kefalonia, and was purpose-built for tourists after the earthquake. It's got pretty much everything you'd need: supermarkets, tavernas, bars, gift shops etc, but the capital city Argostoli is only 15 minutes by taxi which you can hail down on the main street with ease. There are no cashpoints in Lassi so make sure you've got plenty of Euros on you or you would have to go into Argostoli and back as there are loads of banks there.

The beaches are stunning: clear blue water which is shallow enough for little ones to play safely, very clean sand, and if you go to the main one (Makris Gianos) you get table service of lunch, drinks, snacks and ice creams, which was really luxurious! You do have to pay about 5-8 Euros per day to use sunbeds on the beach but we thought it was well worth it. There are plenty of watersports on offer and as the beaches are relatively narrow you'd have a hard time losing sight of your children!

The restaurants are all pretty similar in terms of menu, and most did a mixture of traditional Greek food and more "mainstream" food like pizza, steak and pasta. Most of them had children's menus, and the seafood is superb as it is caught every day. Phaedra taverna on the main strip was the best restaurant in our opinion.

All the locals were lovely; really helpful and friendly with impeccable English... but be warned: if you get caught stopping to look at a menu outside a restaurant, they will go through the ingredients of every dish!

Most of the time, the fact that Lassi was purpose-built makes it a really easy and pleasant place to have a holiday, but if you're after traditional Greek life you'd be better to stay elsewhere on the island as it caters solely for tourists.

All in all, Kefalonia lives up to it's expectations and it caters for all ages and requirements, from bars and nightlife right through to family holidays and relaxing breaks.

The resort of Lassi, is mainly a strip, with all the bars etc on the main road. The hotels and apartments are on either side of the road, either up a hill or down a hill towards the beaches. Plenty of bars and tavernas to keep you going for two weeks. Excellent beaches. Entertainment was low key, with the odd singer in some bars, but we prefer it that way. Resort is kept nice and clean. I would visit this resort again.

Lassi is lovely, especially if you have children or want to be near the town. We have been visiting Kefalonia on and off for 11 years. This was our least favourite resort because in the day time it really lacks character with it just being a line of restaurants and shops along quite a busy road but now we love it because we have a 4 yr old and it is just so easy. There is a really good cross section of places to eat. There are a good choice of supermarkets. There is a 24hour doctor in resort. There are a few really nice bars. The beaches in Lassi are very good, they can get busy but they are sandy and clean. The sea is shallow and safe. There are a good choice of watersports/activities should you want them or peace and quiet if you don't. We love to walk into Argostoli of an evening which is only about a 20-25 minute walk but it is up and down hill with a pushchair so be warned but its great exercise after a meal. Very friendly, welcoming, safe resort. There is no where on Kefalonia over commercialised and you get nice people generally going there. Highly recommended - its truly beautiful!

Lassi is a lovely resort. Whether you want to spend your time relaxing or partying it is all there for you. The beaches are clean, the water is clear and to swim with the fish is fun.

Lassi is a man made village and it shows. Do not be put off by this as all the bars, restaurants etc are very Greek and seem to compete as to which is the more authentic. The standard of food and service was very high and prices reasonable. Not really a suitable resort for children apart from the beach.

We are both well travelled and although Lassi isn't the best resort we have ever stayed at (we have been there 4 times now) we love it because we find it a good base from which to travel around the Island (and this you must not miss). The beaches are great and it's a short walk to the capitol Argostoli. There are many lovely scenic walks to enjoy and lots of good restaurants to choose from. All this and only a few minutes drive from the airport. Also I must add that the local people are so warm and friendly.

I liked the resort, everything was to hand that needed to be. A lovely island that is explorable on bike or car. Lassi had enough to keep us entertained via food and music. There were plenty of beaches with or without facilities within easy walking distance, as was the main town of Argostoli.

Lassi was the perfect location, just outside the capital, but had the ideal balance of life in the evenings and peacefulness that we wanted as a couple on a relaxing week away.

The beach's were beautiful, and not too busy whilst also not being empty.

The selection of restaurants was impressive, with a few bars to give you somewhere to finish the evening. On top of that, just a 5 euro taxi ride into Argostoli provided you with a plethora of bars and restaurants in a safe and friendly environment that you don't see much these days. Couldn't fault it.

Lassi is very central as a base for getting around the island. Buses are frequent and run on time. Whilst car hire is a great way to explore most travel companies run tours which are great fun. We find the island to be clean and the beaches first class. Entertainment is low key. Singers, instimentalists and dancing is available which adds to the genally laid back feel of the place. Would we go again - you bet!
