Meals and drinks are reasonable prices and the waiters all speak good English and are ready to provide advice on local food and wine. There was some live music in the bars most nights and also a number of karaoke evenings.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course, but don't let anyone tell you that this is anything but a great place to stay! We have a pre-school child and a 6 yr old and they loved it! The people on the island were tremendously hospitible and very friendly towards visitors, especialy kids. We got to see a few tutles which was amazing and the aeroplanes taking off and landing nearby was actually an enjoyable feature (if you're anything like me!) Places to eat were many and varied, but using the info from this website, we didn't have any bad eating/drinking experiences. I wouldn't go over the top about 'Mermaids' as some do, but it was ok. There were lots of other good places to eat and a wide variety on each menu. The local pharmacy was very helpful and not too expensive, although seeing the doctor would set you back £100 at least. And if you want to watch films which haven't even been released in the UK cinemas yet (eg Spiderman2 on July 8th) then there are lots of restuarants showing them!!! And if you can't bare to miss Eastenders while you're away then there are places to cater for your needs too! One word of caution - we didn't hear about the Mosquito problem until we had been bitten multiple times (my wife has never been attacted before). We found burning an anti-mosquito candle (in bars / restuarants / at night) and using Jungle Formula (buy it before you leave the UK as it's not easily available there)were the best solutions. Zante Town is an 8 euro trip and about 20 minutes away and is a great visit for more shops and restuarants and most especially if you need a bank. Anyway Kalamaki was great and we would go again!

Kalamaiki itself is nice but very British ....well English, with 'Full English Breakfast' on almost every chalkboard outside bars. Nights are sometimes quiet and family orientated which was fine but a little too tame for a young couple.(Laganas better).
If you like to eat, drink, and live British on your hols you will like it here but it was wonderful to hire a car for a couple of days and tour the island as we did and see the real Greece- you can eat English brekkie anytime!

Kalamaki is definietely a family resort as well as for couples. Plenty of places to eat and drink but without the loudness and brashness of Laganos which is only a short tax ride away. Recommend you try the Castello restaurant and also the Cave bar which is a the rop end of the resort.
The beaches were also excellent. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming.

It was as clean as streets and roads can be in hot countries!! good bars and restaurants on the main strip with good food.
The Beach wasn't that great very sparse with not much around but this due to the turtles which we did see on a luxury boat cruise, amazing!!
We would for sure go back to this resort and recommend it highly!!! Have fun!!!

The resort was quiet, but up and coming. Lagana is a lot better for younger people, but as Kalamaki is so near to it, it doesn't really matter! Kalamaki is definetely a family area and has lots of good restaurants. We would recommend escape which does literally everything! I cannot express how much of a good time we had in Zante and we will never forget it!
