Kalamaki has the usual assortment of bars and restuarants, the Down Under bar is by far the best bar, we ate in a different restaurant most nights, the food was generally good everywhere, not much else in the way of entertainment though.
The beach is full of locals at the weekend which must be a plus vote, water clear, warm, shallow, sunbeds cheap, good bars and food available, sand gets too hot to walk on in bare feet, we prefered the beach to the hotel.
Zante airport is a nightmare, you queue outside in the heat for 2 hours to check in, then you get herded outside again to wait for a call your flight is boarding, then they'll let you through passport control to the departure area. The First Choice reps did a runner as soon as we were checked in and we had to rely on the Olympus reps to let us know what was going on as you cant hear any announcements outside, must be a few missed flights home I would imagine.

Really nice place!
Restaurants were lovely. Good craic n most of the late bars.
People seemed friendly.
Quieter compared to Laganas but when we visited there we thought it was rough and tacky place.
Beaches and weather were super!

I loved this resort!
Some nights out on the tear and some just chilled out in a pub.
Drunks Corner was a great spot! All the latest sport's events on TV (All the GAA games on as well) also had TV show's on too.
There are some lovely spots for dinner in the evenings too.
The Mermaid Restaurant is nice spot but a little extra than some other places. Another really nice and cheap place is the Laganas side of Kalamaki, a little Italian place, I can’t remember the name but it’s just be itself on the quieter part of that road.
We rented out a car and travelled around the Island. You would get away with doing this in one day. Truly amazing and worth doing.
We visited nearby town of Laganas. We were so glad we didn’t stay there, as it seems really dodgy place. It’s full of teenagers and drunks and doesn’t come across as being very safe. Saying that we did only visit it once. Defiantly wouldn’t go back there!
There are a couple of good shopping malls here too. For handbags and clothes etc.
We had one of our best holidays here. Really friendly place, and looks amazing!
I would defiantly advise doing some of the trips around to other beaches and tour around because it is an incredible place!
I would most certainly recommend Kalamaki as it is a wonderfully holiday destination!

Kalamaki is basically one long strip, there are quite a few bars lots of places to eat and 1 night club and lots of shops.
The beach is the best beach on zante but unfortunatly people use the beach as a giant ashtray and it is full of fag ends even though there are ashtrays on the sunbed tables.
Sunbeds cost 3.50 euros a day and you can hire pedalos for 10 euros an hour for turtle spotting but some people see turtles and others never. The sand is very very hot so buy some beach shoes availiable from all the supermarkets for just 5-6 euros.
You can book all your trips from offices on the main strip as they are a lot cheaper tha buying from your reps.
One place to eat that comes highly recommended is Mermaids great food very reasonably priced (kids meals cost just 90 cents (64p)). and thier Greek night (fridays) is just fantastic.

Kalamaki as a whole was lovely! The resort was great, if you wanted a quiet dinner then to return to go to bed then you could, or if you wanted a wild night out then you could do that also!
Kalamaki is fit for anyone! The standards of the beach was good, it was clean etc but I personally prefered Laganas beach it just depends whether you go to the beach to sunbath or go in the sea!
I would love to visit Kalamaki again!

Loads of restaurants to choose from with great entertainment in most.
Beach was clean and safe with very shallow waters ideal for kids, brillant adventure out to see turtles on a pedalo at Laganas beach.
Remember to visit greek islands restaurant on beach front in Laganas excellent food, excellent service and excellent entertainment from all waiters definitely one to visit many times.

Kalamaki basically consists of a main "strip", along which there are many restaurants, bars, and souvenir shops. There is also a cash machine and a pharmacy. If you are looking for lively nightlife, then go to Laganas, as you won't find it in Kalamaki. However, if all you want from your holiday is to go somewhere for a nice evening meal followed by a stroll and a few drinks, then you will find Kalamaki very acceptable.
The beach straight down from the hotel was quite hard to get to (due to the dunes in which the turtles nest), so we made the stroll down to Stani's beach (about 15 mins walk) and found that to be very clean, calm, and with a taverna in easy reach. 2 sunbeds plus an umbrella were 8 Euros per day.
We ventured into Laganas once, which was an experience - we were just grateful not to be arrested by the fashion police for being either too old or too ugly to join in the fun. Suffice to say, Laganas is loud, lively and full of bars and nightclubs - great if you are a lively teenager, but one night of it was more than enough for us.
We also ventured to Zakynthos town, which is very interesting architecturally, and was well worth the trip (8 Euros in a taxi, one way). The sea front and harbour are pretty, but the town gets VERY hot (42 degrees when we were there), so we kept our visit brief.
Overall, Zakynthos was much the same as many other greek islands I've visited. It wasn't as breaktakingly pretty as I expected, having seen all those postcards of Smugglers Cove, but the weather was great, averaging 37 degrees each day we were there, and that's really all you can wish for on a summer sun holiday.
