Kalamaki does not cater for kids whatsoever, therefore it is essential to book a child friendly hotel such as the Exotica if this is your choice of destination.

Overall we enjoyed the holiday, but we are all used to higher standards of accomodation within a much more child friendly resort. Would not return to Zante.

Outwith the hotel, the restaurants served excellent meals, especially Mermaids where everything was cooked fresh at a reasonable price; there was even entertainment on some nights.

The resort has plenty of shops/tervernas/and bars we spent the two weeks drinknig in a pub called the Drunk Corner its got everything you need but should you want the clubs etc then a short taxi ride will take you into Lagana.

The beaches are very clean and sandy we spent many a day walking up and down it.

Quiet resort with one main rd that has a selection of bars & restaraunts..but no "clubby" bars .The restaraunts we visited all gave excellent quality of food & the staff very friendly with prob the most scenic bar ive ever visited in all my trips abroad..the cave bar. the beach is quite narrow & not very golden but water is very shallow so ideal for kids & poss sightings of turtles. For more nighlife laganas is 10 mins in taxi or 40min walk along beach. Biggest minus point is resort is right under flightpath..but no flights after10 or before 6.30

The resort was kept very clean with no rubbish lying about which is not at all like britain.Plenty of bars and tavernas in the area which are child friendly and have a great variety of food available covering all tastes. The beach was also clean with plenty of loungers for rent which were well spaced out unlike some other places i've visited.I can't wait to return to Kalamaki again and to the Antonis Appartments

Laganas can take a leaf out of Kalamaki's book its never to late to become the old good place Eh. Drop the 18/30 club, don't turn that lovely island into another Rhodes or Ayia Napa.

Lovely place!!
Loads of variety of restaurants/bars/tavernas along the strip all at a very reasonable price and only 5 mins walk to the beach which housed the turtles.
Must see in Kalamaki - the Cave Bar - its GREAT!!

Kalamaki beach is occupied by turtles and is closed at night in order to protect them. During the daytime you can actually swim quite close to them and they are spotted a lot. The beach is dark and sandy, with a lot of seaweed but if you walk for 10-15 minutes you come to Lagana beach, where the water is a lot clearer and sand cleaner. We went to Kalamaki in May and found the entertainment to be okay but it is probably a lot better in high season.

Kalamaki was very quiet during the first week of May , it soon started to open up with new restaurants & bars unveiled every day . Due to large crowds in the summer a lot of the restaurants are now serving frozen food similar to that found in a well known German firm based in U.K ( i think this is for swiftness & convienience ) The Pandenesia among others is guilty of such things .
To avoid this visit the Garden , Laganas/Kalamaki road as you reach the pharmacy in Kalamaki turn left pass the large restaraunt you first see ( keep this one for later ) carry on past the small church ( outside w.c here if required ) and on for 200 / 300 yards onyour right is the Garden , brilliant food / staff / prices . try it !
Pavements are cr*p in Kalamaki but to be fair to most hotel / bar ownwres they all have ramps for chair users to gain entry , more so than in U.K . i'm mot in a chair but i just noticed it because a relative who was , visited a few years back and said it was terrible ten !
Traffic can be hazardous until you remember to look all ways at all times !
Great variety of shops all selling similar items but plenty of them .
A phrase of Greek goes down very well , and served me well on a few occasions ( a whole nights wine wiped off the bill , a free carsf here & there ) Try it , it will work . Simple as well to learn .
Efharisto Zante .
