The beach was amazing it is clean and sandy and goes on for miles. Not far up the road from the hotel there is various restaurants and pubs that offer great entertainment with real live bands and comedians a bit further up the road.

Baga is a great resort to visit as it offers the best of both worlds. If you want to boogie in a club you can, if you want to watch football in a bar you can and if like us you want to sit outside of a beach shack, be waited on hand and foot, and talk to some of the incredibly friendly locals about their lives and customs then you can.
The Beach is fantastic. You have the obligatory beach vendors (if you dont want it just smile and say no thank you). The breeze keeps you cool all day (Factor 20-30 definitely and we are dark skinned)and the sea is like a warm bath.
The standard of the food out of the beach shacks is phenomenal. The Big Banana shack cooked me the best steak I have had anywhere in the world. Visit Bobby's bar for the friendliest people ever. Recommend the massage on the beach also.

Resort not dirty at all, lively place with lots of places to eat and drink.
Some very high quality restaurants within walking distance, others just a short taxi trip away.
An excellent resort to be staying in.
Beach at Calangute one of the best.
Would visit this resort again.

We last came to Goa, and Candolim, 6 years ago and it's changed a lot. Some for the better, some for the worse. There appears to be a real effort going into cleaning the place up.
The entertainment is still iffy in parts, ranging from Andre, Goa's answer to Neil Diamond! to the excellent live blues nights at the Stonehouse. There appears to be an influx of English bars which is a shame really.
The beach is still in good nick, even with the ship there.
In our view Candolim was preferable to Calangute and the other resorts up north.

From Baga to Fort Aguada you either love it or hate. My wife and I love it. Candolim is becoming very busy I think some of the Benidormites are trying to take over -I hope not.

This is a busy resort, lots of shops and restaurants and entertainment.
The beach was really busy and you get harrassed alot by the sellers, some of whom are very very persistant. Most of the shacks on the beach provide free sunloungers but make sure you agree this with them beforehand or you will find you will be charged over the odds. The people who work there will wait on you hand and foot and the food is also very good. Beware of the beachtowels that they provide for you which probably have never been washed and have other peoples sweat absorbed into them (take your own).
I can only describe this beach as Asian Blackpool. Not the cleanest and certainly the busiest beach I have ever visited.
The choice of food in this resort was excellent. Did not have a bad meal in Goa during the two weeks. Especially recommended is the Planten Leaf vegetarian restaurant which I would gladly turn vegetarian for as the food was that good. It was cheap, fresh and so so tasty and all the locals eat here so you know it is good.
If I went back to Goa I would probably go somewhere quieter such as Candolim as I like to see a bit of culture. However, I had a great holiday and would recommend a visit.

Calangute id India "lite" but is stil a bustling town where people live and work. Lots of great restaurants and although it shuts down generally quite early you can still enjoy a beer on the beach 'til late. Worth visiting nearby towns and markets for the "expensive rubbish" and entertainment.
