Candolim is quiet but has a great selection of restaurants and bars (All extremely cheap compared to UK prices).
The beach is reasonably clean, but has the usual dogs and cattle roaming throughout the day, although they don't appear to be aggressive or cause any trouble and are just part of the 'beach scene'.
Great selection of beach shacks, all offering good service & food, recommend 'Ram Shack' close to the River Princess.

Candolim is wonderful. It avoids much of the hussle of Calangute which is just up the road. There are many many good restaurants and bars (Ice & Spice) was our favorite.
The beaches are clean and relatively safe but they do get big waves here so you need to be a strong swimmer if you are going in out of your depth

Candolim is the 'quieter' part of Goa however it can still be hectic on the roads and very busy. The beaches are fantastic all the shacks supply great food and drink and the service is ussually great. Candolim has a great Jewellers for diamonds Guru and a local shop The Elephant shop where you can buy anything and use the phone and internet.

Candolim is absolutely everything that we wanted. I have fallen in love with the place so I'm going back there.
The beach was beautiful. We ate at Steve's shack nearly everyday which was great, and we met his dog Buster. The boys - my boyfriend and other friends - played football with the shack boys just before sun down when it wasn't too hot.
The ship that is beached on Candolim beach apparently is going to be moved this year as the owner has been given 116 days to do this so the view will be lovely too next year.
There are so many restaurants here, you can play pool, darts and if you don't mind getting a cab (they're really cheap) you can go to Club Cubana for a dance, a swim and even a free massage.
