The resort itself is very nice. If youve never been to Goa its a bit of a shock when you first arrive and may take a few days to get into it but the people are so nice. you can eat and drink for next to nothing and gold and diamonds are very cheap too !!

Having just got back from Candolim for our 11th year you have to accept Goa for what it is - ignore the stunning pictures in the brochure, Goa does have problems with rubbish strewn around, power cuts etc.. but Candolim is still better than it's neighbouring town Calangute.
You make the night life as you wish, if you want rave/trance music head to Baga - next to Calangute. Candolim is easier on the ear apart from British owned bar Ruffles, with live entertainment and kareoke (not what Goa wants). Most bars are there just to sit in and chat the night away, music laws still apply and goes off at 11pm but if you still want it - look for it ! it's there to be found.
Many good restaurants around are to be found ranging from currys to fish and steaks - you can't go wrong here !!
Enjoy xx

The resort was fine. From having explored the other nearby resorts it's not as busy as Calangute or Bagga so it had more of a sort of local feel and I think the best. Loads of bars and places to eat as you'd expect. Kingfisher 70 Rupees for a large bottle and decent curry with rice and bread for about £3 or less. Plenty of choices. Suggest you get a Time Out Guide or Lonely Planet as a guide. Went to the Stonehouse, a few times (turn left out of the hotel and about a 10/15 minute walk along the main road), great outside setting and good food. Tried the Bomra, again left out of the hotel and a 5/10 minute walk, Burmese style food, more expensive but so good. Found a great Italian (The Fannon)down a side road opposite the ice factory on the road to Calangute. An old house with roof terraces to dine at, great food and inexpensive if you fancy a change from curry. Got a bus to the Mapusa (pronounced Mapsa) Market on a Friday. 10 Rupees each person each way by bus, when you get there just follow the crowds. Tourist stuff plus local produce for sale, barter hard but you'll still pay over the top but you'll be happy and so will the sellers. There's a pub just across the side road from the market...called The Pub, you can see the balcony and it's up one flight of stairs. To get the bus "home" just ask anybody for the Candolim bus and they'll point it out. Went to the Spice Plantation Trip with Johns Boat Tours, was good but reckon you could do it cheaper by using a taxi. Beach was fine, used the Boat Shack and didn't pay for sunbeds if you drank/eat there otherwise it would cost a massive 50 Rupees!!!! Tried various places for changing money but found Bruno's on the way to the beach on the main road usually the best. Other reveiwers have mentioned Newtons Supermarket. If you forget anything from home you can get it there, no trouble and if you need a plug converter for English appliances they've got them for about £1. Went to Panjim , enjoyed it but hot.
So, all in all had a great time, people were friendly, food was great, weather lovely (in the 90's most days)and it was cheap. If you go you should enjoy it!!!

The resort has a fair amount to offer - from local trips (either with the Tour companies) or by local taxis and plenty to see in the local shops and stalls. The tailors and leather jackets are well priced (you could not get the same at home for the price). Eating and drinking outside of the hotel is not a problem as there are plenty of small/meduim sized bars and eateries around.

This is our 8th year visiting Candolim, so they must be getting something right.

Not much point adding anything here if it is an old Goan hand reading this. Some say the Candolim/Calangute strip is now too commercialised, others like its bustling night life and eateries. If you want a clean sandy beach, reliable weather and a big choice of places to eat and drink, then go.

I am a regular traveller, and am fortunate to have visited many many countries in the world. Having stayed in both top end and humble locations I can confidently say that the Prazeres Resort is by far the worst hotel I have ever visited.
If you are accustomed to staying in a clean, safe hotel then avoid this hotel like the plague.
The management are rude, the rooms small and filthy (extremely basic) with very poor lighting and in desperate need of some TLC. When my friends informed the hotel we cannot stay in such a place - the management threathened my group with 'goons'. So please be fully aware of the 'cancellation policy' prior to booking a room here.
The Air cons did not work in half the rooms either.
Please spend your money in a more deserving place.
