Well what can I say it was the best holiday I've ever been on.

The food and staff were great.

I'm going back next year definitely.

I would recommend this to anyone

The self catering appartments were shabby, and in need of refurbishment. The bins were emptied each day but I know there was no cleaning done because I purposely left something to be swept up which was still there the day we left. The Toilet needed bleaching and had I not cleaned the bathroom myself it would have remained the same. Our bed linen remained unchanged during the whole of our stay, and on one day during our stay we were without towels from 9.30am to 6.30 at night.
There was an invitation in reception to upgrade to a better room ( at extra cost) these were obviously the rooms shown in the thos.cook brochure, and on the website, but why should we be expected to pay extra for what we beleived we were getting in the first place. Also we were amazed to find the Thos.Cook rep trying to get us interested in Time Share of the new hotel at Golden Bay.
We did find Malta interesting and the people very nice, but should we ever return, it will not be to the Buggiba Complex.

We stayed in the Bugibba Holiday Complex on a self catering basis and despite some of the comments we could not fault it. The corridors leaing to the rooms are a bit dark and could do with a bit of a paint job I am sure it is all down to room allocation and we were extremely lucky with our apartment. When we walked in the apartment was the same lay out as a Travel Inn and the furnishings were very similar but with the addition of a kitchenette. We had a full cooker(oven/grill and 4 plate hob), a fridge, toaster and we ordered a starter food pack which included everything we needed for the first couple of days. The bathroom was very clean and was cleaned thorougly every day as was the room. The cleners were very friendly and if we wanted a lie in- they came back later.

We had an air conditioning unit and a wall fan which was great as it was very stuffy at night- the only problem was that they were very noisy but after a couple of drinks we did not notice.

Our apartment overlooked the main pool and if we sat in the corner of our balcony we could see the entertainment.

The pool was lovely - warm and clean- the only complaint being that you had to be out of bed at 8am to reserve a sun bed and then some of them lay empty until 11am at least. There was a notice from the hotel advising guests that they should not reserve sun beds but no one(including myself) took any notice. I decided after a couple of days if you can't beat them join them.

The entertainment was not brilliant - I think there could be a little bit of work on that but Danny J De Vito is well worth watching. He was very funny and entertaining and during the day he came round the pool to chat to the guests.(He looks like Danny De Vito)

We did not eat in the dining room as part of the holiday for us is to eat out but we had a take away pizza from the hotel pizzeria and it was lovely.

This is the first time we have tailor made our own holiday and it definitely works. Our apartment was very good and the hotel organised the pick up from the airport and there were no problems. The driver was waiting for us even though our flight was 5 hours late.

The drive was a bit hairy as they undertake, overtake tailgate and the first one to sound their horn at the junction goes through. Quite an experience.

We enjoyed our holiday and the only reason we would not go back is that there are so many places to visit we never go back to the same place.

We stayed in the Buggiba Holiday Complex, when we arrived immediately asked for a higher floor as we were at pool level and thought it would be too noisy. What a mistake, the room was very basic. There was an air conditioning unit in the room but unfortunately did not work, only a fan on the wall to keep us cool. Not a lot of good when it is 40 degrees!

Decided on the first day to visit the pool area. No sunbeds left, plenty not being used only by towels. Like that every day we went there.

Complex was very basic and looked like it was about to fall down with cracks appearing in the brickwork.

Plus side about the complex were the friendly and helpful staff.

Prices around the pool very quite expensive.

Only went down for breakfast once. There seemed to be quite a choice of food on offer. We prefer to eat out and the reason we went half board was because it was cheaper that self-catering.

Location was very good though, very near all the amenities.

We cannot believe people would actually visit this complex for a second time as we know we shall not be returning.

We have just come back from B.H.C and I have to say it was the worst place I have ever stayed in my life, it is a disgusting dump.

When we arrived our rooms were not ready for three hours and we had been travelling since 3.00am in the morning. On first impressions the hotel did not seem to bad, the reception was ok and I thought it would be alright.

Once we finally got into our room I nearly cried, it was the most basic, disgusting room I have ever seen. The bathroom was dirty and grotty and the plug and taps were red with rust. Our friends room was even more basic and was very dated. The sheets were dirty and our pillows were covered in black dirt. The mattress was worn out and looked like it was 15 years old. I woke in the morning to find a massive puddle of water leeking in to our room by the kitchen and our toilet would not flush at all.

The rest of the place was not much better, it had a really cheap and tacky feel to it. Probably some people with young children would have found it acceptable but we certainly did not. At 8.00am people running out to put their towels on sun beds and by 8.30am there was none left, but no one by the pool!!! It just seemed stupid and very selfish to me.

After a few hours we complained to our Thomson rep who refused to move us and offered us alternative rooms, at this point we discovered that we had been upgraded to what they called a superior room, well if we had not have been so upset we would have laughed as there was nothing at all superior about our room.

After the rep had a look around he agreed to move us straight away with no extra charge and agreed that the accommodition at this hotel is way below standard.

We were moved to Sunseeker complex up the road which is beautiful and the staff are so friendly I highly recommend it to anyone.

Malta it's self is nice, the people (accept at the Bugiba Hoilday complex) are very nice and the food and wine is great. we went on the catamaran cruise and it was fantastic.

Malta depends are tourism for it's economy but it needs to clean it's self up and places like the B.H.C will put people off returning to a lovely island.

Although we love malta, the BHC has got to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, had to move rooms as there was no balcony, you need to be up at the crack of dawn to get a sunlounger.

People were putting 6 towels out at a time then they would go off to the beach all day, there wasn,t even anywhere to sun bathe if you couldn't get a bed, it was very cramped and I wouldn't rate it any more than 1*.

I must admit though they were always cleaning. But dont let that put you off going to malta as the beaches are well worth a visit,we are going back this summer.

We had a very pleasant stay at BHC. We had a very spacious room overlooking the pool which accommodated a king size bed and a single bed without being cramped, fully equipped kitchenette and bathroom. The funishings were comparable with any other 3* hotel we have stayed in on the Med. The staff were very friendly and pleasant. We were given a complimentary breakfast on our first day to encourage us to pay half board supplements. We declined as we did not want to be tied to meal times although the breakfast was substantial and the waiter told us we could replenish our plates as often as we wished.
The entertainment was OK - the Danny J DeVito act being the best. I think I also saw him in attendance in the restaurant !!
The location was fine being in a good position for the promenade and the shops without being too noisy.
The bus terminal was just up the road - a must for exploring the island. A good holiday all in all.

If you want a good holiday, by all means, visit Malta (Buggiba) - it is probably the best holiday location that I have visited for many reasons - weather, people (very friendly), scenery, shops, entertainment etc....

but dont stay at this hotel - its the worst hotel that I have stayed at anywhere in the world - the reception staff are diabolical, although the maids were very nice.

every day there were a few people complaining about rooms - mostly because they were too small or filthy (or both) and in one case a couple's furniture had been completely removed when they were out to lunch.

the hotel is very near to restaurants, cafe's, a brilliant pub about 10 feet away that sells pints of beer at 0.80gbp which is handy. it is such a shame that the staff and rooms let it down so much.

otherwise, the location, and Malta itself is a beautiful place and is highly recommended.

our friends stayed at a hotel called Topaz which was near and much better than this hotel, so i recommend that you enjoy Malta there, and do not spoil your stay by staying at the Buggiba Complex.

If Malta itself was not such a nice place, then this review would have been even more damning.

My name is melissa and i've just come back from malta i stayed at the buggiba holiday complex and i thought it was really good. It was very clean and in a nice area. The hotel food was very nice with a cavery style buffet. You could have hot or cold food and had a choice where you wanted to eat. For example in the restraunt or in the pizzeria. The staff were really nice and very friendly and the atmosphere was great. I cant wait to save up some money i would defenetly go again. I really enjoyed the entertaiment. Especially the danny divito entertainer. He was so funny and got everybody involved in his act. The buggiba holiday complex is situated in a really good area as once the entertaiment finishes usually around 11.30pm if your still in the party mood there are lots of kareoke bars and nightclubs in the area which are really close (walking distance) I am defenetly visiting buggiba holiday complex again

The Hotel itself appeared clean, but really it is just grubby and old. It almost had the feeling of the war to it, dark winding corridors in a horrible colour of beige. There was carpet on the corridor floor leading to our apartment which was thread bear and dirty. The plaster was coming off walls in particular the indoor swimming pool - the upstairs part of the indoor pool was falling down and was covered by a brown sheet, it looked bad. We only ate breakfast one day and it was quite good. Before going on this holiday we were a bit scared of what to expect and I guess 75% of what we read prior to arriving was true. The Hotel staff was friendly yet seemed perplexed because it seemed every time we reached reception somebody was complaining about their room. For the seven days we were in this complex we had nothing to sit on but a dirty table and four uncomfortable dining chairs. The apartment was large and clean but very grubby and the living area was just a space with no furniture. We had no seatee to sit on and no air conditioning as stated by our Travel Company. Air conditioning is essential because it is so warm. (one of the reasons I booked this complex). The location was good just a short walk to a very nice Bugibba square which nice eating places. If you like clean, basic, bright accomodation don't stay here.
