Buggiba is a resort for the mass tourism market, with pizza places, all day English breakfasts and bars such as the Victoria and Fat Harrys serving english beers in quasi-English pubs. As we were there in the off-season it was quite fun, but would think in the peak the place would be packed, noisy and more suited to the 20's age group.

Access to beach area was via hotel. Casino next to hotel and quite a few bars, shops and café's within easy walking distance. People very friendly and meals very reasonably priced. Didn't actually go on beach so can't comment! Lovely area to walk around with good views of St. Paul's Bay. Many car hire places, again reasonably priced.

Timeshare touts everywhere in this area. Even the driver of a car stopped for us on the crossing near the hotel jumped out to pester us.
One day approached by approx 10 touts in 2 hours. dont engage in conversation, no need to be rude, just keep walking if you arent interested - they get the message.
No beach to speak of in this area, dolmen hotel has a lido area but not in use when we were there.

We have been visiting Malta since 1983 mostly in the Bugibba area but the standard of cleanliness has deteriorated. A Maltese friend told us there is going to be a sandy beach in front of the Dolmen which would make it better.
There are some lovely cafes in this area, Granny's is very good value for money. Mary's is the best for changing money and she is very friendly, recognising you from one year to the next.
I am sure people are fed up with the Timeshare in Malta, there seems to be more every year. They will not take no for an answer and keep following you. By the end of the holiday we got really annoyed with them.

The resort is quite clean. You see bags of rubbish on the street but it because it is collected daily.
Entertainment is available locally for all types from nice local bars to entertainers in bars and night clubs.
There isn't a beach but plenty of rocky areas to swim from.

Nice harbour, long promenade walks round to Quawra . Bus station 10 minute walk from hotel and you can travel all over the island very cheaply maximum bus fare 50cent mostly 18cents-24cents.
Lots of little bars and shops up the hill behind the hotel.
