The cleanliness could be better but to us it was bearable.
The enterainment was ok especially one of the bars in Bugibba square but you had to get thee for a decent time if you wanted a seat.
The beaches were very rocky but we went to one that was sandy and was much better and quieter.
I would go back again to Bugibba or Qawra.

Malta has changed from when i visited 9 yrs ago. It's more like Blackpool,it's very expensive,it smells of sewerage, there's rubbish left all over the streets & for gods sake watch where you tred,it's DOG DIRT CITY.The shops on Buggibba front are full of overpriced rubbish except for the jewellery which is lovely.
Myself & my family wont return to Malta again EVER X

St Pauls Bay has plenty to offer for entertainment.
Day boat trips and coach tours reasonably priced. Rocky beach clean enough.

No beach nearby but there are plenty of days out that you could arrange and the staff are on hand 24hrs a day.

St. Paul`s Bay is a lovely location. Very quiet and clean however just a few minutes walk away you are in Bugibba, a lively resort. Rubbish is lifted every morning and the streets cleaned. I would like to see the edge of the sea on the walkway from St. Paul`s to Bugibba cleaned more often, as it is such a beautiful walk and away from traffic. Loads and loads of different restaurants and bars are to be found. I would say that 99% of the locals were very friendly and helpful. The new chap who took over Pearson`s Bar is a lovely person, serves good food at resonable prices. I Left my husband there to order lunch and popped into the Post Office next door where he followed me to take my order! (He did this for a laugh).
Sylvia and her husband Joe who own the Hormblower are lovely people. No matter how often we passed Sylvia she always had time for a chat. The harbour visit was lovely and the snacks freshly made on board when you order. Drink cheap too!
If you need any drink, cigs, milk, crips etc then you can do no better than De Best, in Summer Street - up from Pearson`s on the right hand side. Paul and Tania Vella are so friendly and helpful. Always a smile and cheery word. Look forward to seeing them again this year.
There is no sandy beach in Bugibba however those who like to swim don`t appear to have any problem swimming from the rocks.
At night time, particularly Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday the majority of the locals (including many Maltese from the rest of the island) converge on Bugibba. The resort is lively with the sound of music playing from variouds venues, children laughing and playing and everyone having a great time. The Maltese are great family people and you often find groups of children, parents, grandparents, cousins etc all out for the evening walking along the seafront or in the many restaurants. The local clubs are very friendly and welcome tourists with open arms.
Buses are cheap and plentiful to help you see tbe rest of the Island, which is a must.
Have been to Malta now (various locations, including Lija and Mosta) on about 18 occasions now and keep coming back.
Tip: Take Malta as you find it. Go at the same pace as the locals and you will enjoy yourself. Never be in a hurry to get served in a restaurant or cafe. Sit there and enjoy the atmosphere and the view, after all that is why you go on holiday - to relax.

Malta is a beautiful place,if visiting various places take the local buses, very cheap, if visiting the Capital Valetta, take the ferry from Silema, only five minutes across the Med, if you stay in Buggiba or Quawra get the local bus to Silema quicker than taking the bus all the way to Valetta. A must visit is the Blue Lagoon, Hornblower goes on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday, full day trip and costs approx £8 sterling, you can go on a speed boat into the Comino caves (small fee) this is fun and it is very beautiful. Buggiba town could do with a clean, be careful when walking, pavements uneven, by the way Malta is NO SMOKING in public places, brought in last October, have to stand outside the bars if you want to smoke, maybe a good thing or maybe a bad thing, time will tell next season on how many tourists they loose. Maybe none, maybe more will visit now it is a NO SMOKING island.

St Paul's Bay was a ideal place from which to explore the islands.
Bus service excellent and cheap. To get to a sandy beach involved 15 mins on the bus. There are very few sandy beaches on Malta.
Lots of interesting places to visit. Plenty of good restaurants in Bugibba. People friendly and welcoming.
Malta looks a bit scruffy but after a day or two you don't notice!

St Pauls Bay is a reasonably picturesque location with rock skirts.
I enjoyed walking along the half mile waterfront daily and there are very adequate seats to contemplate from. There are plenty of shops for basic needs and regular cheap bus transport to Valetta etc. and plenty of excursions to buy from agents.
Many car hire firms (but I would not risk the apalling driving conditions even as a driver of nearly 50 years experience).
Most houses and simply block built small and archetecturally un attractive but Malta needs to "get a grip" if it hopes to be mainstream in the EU - prices high in Liri and may increase if converts to Euro.

St Paul's bay and her neighbour Buggiba are well located on Malta : a lot of buses, not far away from Gozo ferries, well placed regarding to the sandy beaches of the island, direct line to Valetta, possibility to avoid traffic and traffic jams in the cities when driving to the southern part of the island.
Nice place to stay and walk a bit.
No beach but flat rocky places equipped.
Entertainment is not my cup of tea, so no opinion.
