We have just returned from our second holiday at the Son Baulo. We went last year in June for 7 nights and booked to go back as soon as the 2010 prices were published.
This time we went for 10 nights in October, and it was just perfect. Our children aged 6 and nearly 4 loved being in the main pool and would have stayed there all day, every day if I let them. It was lovely to have the beach on our doorstep and my children loved it, mainly at the end of the day when it was quieter.
This hotel is very popular with British, also German and Italian, I feel that adds to the holiday feel and was good for our children to experience other languages around them. My daughter's favourite part of the day was seeing and joining in with the Mini Disco with Gill Even after 10 nights she didn’t tire of it, and as grownups it is just lovely to see all the kiddies enjoying themselves.
I emailed them a week before we went asking for an upgrade sea view room and they obliged. I am sure they always try to meet any requests. The food cannot be faulted, even the desserts were delicious!
The beach is lovely with shallow water for quite a way out. Great for jumping waves though. We had an excellent holiday at the Son Baulo and would recommend it to everyone.

The hotel is an excellent position. We have been here 7 times over past 5 years, so we must have the hotel ok. This time we had a very good offer from Thomson, especially for 11 nights.
This has been again a wonderful holiday from the start to finish. Everything about the hotel is first class.
Excellent service from all the staff. Very clean, even if we were late in the morning and had Do not Disturb notice out, cleaner would come back later in the day to do the room.
Great food.
Flat terrain for walking - we like to go for a long evening stroll. Stunning views.
Excellent area for beach and buses. Can´t fault anything.
Would not go anywhere else.

Fantastic!
This year will be our 30th year visiting Majorca and staying at the Hotel Son Baulo. I suppose 30 years staying at the same hotel is not everyone’s ideal, but we have tried other hotels and been disappointed and we feel that if you are lucky enough to find a little bit of heaven, you should stick to it as long as it lasts.
After 30 years I can still say that we love the place as much as the first time we visited in 1981.
True, it is not the Ritz, but what the Hotel Son Baulo is, is a superb, friendly, welcoming and helpful hotel. All the staff give 100% in effort to help guests have trouble free holiday. True, it is a family hotel built right on the beach and giving children lots to do, but the hotel is designed so that there are still secluded areas if you want a few minutes peace and quiet.
We have seen many changes in Majorca over 30 years but what has not changed is the friendliness of the locals, the professionalism of the hotel staff and the beauty of the island.

A dated hotel built in 1967/8, but don't let that put you off immediately. It has been refurbished somewhat although the bedroom furniture is definitely 1970's style. The hotel is very good as to wheel chair or push chair access.
We were a family of Dad, Mum, Son and Daughter in law with a Child almost 2. We asked for adjoining rooms and got them, together with a huge patio area. And I mean big, the only downfall being the sea view was somewhat obscured by a large fig tree and did not get much sunshine but the patio made up for it in the evening having a large area for drinking outside.
Bathroom well laid out and nicely tiled, although ceiling looks as if it needs re-doing. No locks on loo door. Nice big safe in room also. Air-Con very good, flat screen HD TV mainly Spanish.
Irons or kettles you have to hire, same for a fridge. The main areas of the hotel were spotless. I did find that the toilet facilities were small for the size of the hotel, unless there were others I didn't see.
Food was excellent! Could not fault it, and I'm an ex-chef of 22 years’ experience.
Hotel location was perfect, right on a sandy beach. There is a river that runs to side of the hotel. Pleasant to look at from a distance, but was quite smelly when you got really close. So I would advise any kids to paddle in it.
Take a trip on the C'an Picafort Express. It's a mini road train that runs every 40 mins on a circular route and costs 3 Euro for adults, half for kids. Note, it has a siesta time from midday to about 5pm. You can get off in town and get back on later if you retain ticket.
Hotel staff were very very friendly, all of them. I got to like being waited on.
The entertainment was very repetitive each night for kids, but it doesn't last that long so don't leave. The acts that follow are very very good.
So my overall opinion is its a very good family orientated hotel that is well worth a visit.

This was our second time, previously visited in September 2009 and the same as last time; we had such a good time. The Son Baulo is a very good 3 stars hotel in a superb location, the beach is one step away, with a very good service, food and entertainment at an affordable price.
We had a nice room with a double bed and 2 very comfortable single beds, nicely decorated. It seems to have been recently refurbished, double glazed windows, nice bathroom, flat screen TV and lovely air cond. Everything spotlessly clean. We requested a non smoking room at the time of booking, and we got it.
Restaurant is also very clean and service is very good, all waiters were efficient and friendly. About the food, I felt that some of the comments were unjustified, breakfast selection was very good, fruits, cereals, meats, eggs, bacon, cheese, a range of teas, pastries.
Both breakfast and dinner are of a high standard, and we always found the choice to be of more than acceptable.
And we have travelled extensively and are not easily pleased. Very good service from restaurant staff. At lunch, 2 bars serve burgers, omelettes, chicken filets, salads, baguettes, sandwiches.
The rest of the hotel was also very clean; pool area never crowded, and gets the sun all day long. Plenty of sun beds never had a problem finding one.
There is a game room with TV, machines and pool tables for children, which we thought it was very good idea as this room is near the main area when entertainment is hold, so children can go there after the mini disco. We never ventured there, as our children loved the shows.
The walk from the hotel along the sea front it takes you to the resort centre and is a lovely, easy flat walk of about 20 minutes. The beach and the sea were wonderful.

We stayed at the Hotel Son Baulo in July 2011 for 2 weeks. Its a great hotel if you have young children as the entertainment and general set up for kids is fantastic. Even down to having their own utensils, plates etc in the dining room and microwaves in the bar to warm milk.
The location of the hotel is fabulous and it is worth paying the extra to have a sea view room as you have views right over the bay to Puerto Pollensa.
The sea view rooms have just had new furniture put in them, brightening up the rooms and new upvc balcony doors open onto a good size balcony. The bathrooms are also new.
The food at the hotel, again was great if you like home cooked family meals. There was always a great salad buffet, show cooking every evening and fabulous desserts. No matter what time you went into the dining room you could always get a table and the waiters would be over within seconds with your drinks.
We didn't stay in for the evening entertainment every night as there is only so much 'bingo' one person can take, but what we did see was very professional (even the reps show was very good) and the kids seemed to be having a ball.
What I will say for the hotel is that every member of staff we came across did their utmost to ensure that we were having the best time possible, they all made time to talk to you even though you could see they were very busy on some days. I will definitely be returning to the hotel and would recommend it to any family after a good beach holiday with special touches!

I cannot think of a bad thing to say about this place it was amazing and by far the best holiday I’ve ever had. My children were 14,11,6 and they loved it too. Fabulous and friendly service and the food was lovely and there was a lot of choice too.
We have booked to go back next year and we can’t wait.

We read some reviews on another website and were concerned on what we would find, our concern disappeared on arrival. We arrived very late at night and were greeted by a very welcoming receptionist, Wayne, who after the check in took us to the Restaurant for a hot drink and something to eat. We were very pleased, so a good start.
Our room 457 had a double bed and 2 twin beds for our twins, the room was nicely decorated in lively blues and a view to die for, the beach and the sea were wonderful, and the sunrise in red colours is breath-taking. (See our photos).
Our room seems to have been recently refurbished, new door, veranda, balcony doors (double glazed), bathroom, very comfortable beds (not so comfortable pillows), flat screen TV, phone, lights and air cond., everything seems new and nice and kept spotlessly clean every day. Very quiet even though our room was near the lift. Sometimes we could hear the music from the hotel next door, but never until late, and not very loud. We asked for a non-smoking room, and we got it.
We talked to other guests in the hotel and most of them seem to be very happy.
Restaurant is also very clean and the service is very good, all waiters were efficient and friendly. The breakfast selection was very good, and offers fruits, cereals, meats, eggs, bacon, cheese, a range of teas, pastries.
After reading some reviews about the Suites, which are situated at the end of corridors and are a set of 2 rooms with impressive views, we request from reception if we could upgrade to one of them. Receptionists were extremely nice to us, we could not upgrade as the hotel was full (as it seems to be for the whole season), but they showed the rooms, and they said they would inform us if one eventually became available. And one became available on our last night, and we were given it for free, and receptionist apologized for not having been able to offer us this for more nights. We really enjoyed that last special night, and we thank them deeply for their kindness and friendliness.
The rest of the hotel was also very clean, pool area never crowded (see photos taken on 30th July morning and afternoon), and gets the sun, practically all day long. Plenty of sun beds never had a problem finding one.
The hotel only offers bed and breakfast, or half board, and both breakfast and dinner are of a high standard with good variety. And if you are a fussy eater and do not like to go for new tastes or sauces, there is always the ‘show cooking’, with friendly chef Filippo on the grill offering plain fish or meat.
If you wish to have lunch in the hotel, there are 2 snacks bars where you can have light meals like burgers, omelettes, chicken filets, salads, baguettes, sandwiches... If you wish to have a proper restaurant meal, there are a few good ones very near, some of them along the pedestrian promenade following the coast from the hotel to the resort centre of Can Picafort (busier that the Son Baulo beach and area).
We thought it was a very good idea to have a games room with TV, machines and pool tables for the children, this room is near the main area when entertainment is hold, on a lower level, so children go there after the mini disco if they are no keen on shows. We never ventured there, as our children loved the shows, and they sat there every night in front of the stage until end. There is also another room, on another level, which is for adults only, with books, TV, newspapers, much quieter.
The walk from the hotel along the sea front it takes you to the resort centre and is a lovely, easy flat walk of about 20 minutes, you first pass the ancient part of the village with small fishermen houses with terraces, some of them are now restaurants or bars where you can eat tapas, then it comes the harbour with the yachts and smaller boats (sea our photos), and finally the busiest part of the place with many things going on. If you are looking for shopping, the main street is parallel to this pedestrian promenade.
In my opinion, as far as I know and after other guests comments who seem to have been visiting this hotel many times and who we met in the hotel, if there is a problem in this hotel this is for some guest booking basic or standard rooms (apparently nothing wrong with them apart from the view) with no sea view and then pretending to be accommodated in an upgraded room by putting pressure on poor receptionists.
The best, on our point of view is that you can have a good 3 stars hotel in a superb situation with a very good service, food and entertainment at an affordable price even in high season. Having its big terraces with plenty of sun beds right on the beach it saves you a fortune by not having to pay for sun beds and umbrellas on the beach.

This is very good hotel in great location, only few steps from the beach.
The hotel is very clean and the rooms were definitely larger than average with TV and air conditioning. The ladies who clean the rooms do a marvellous job and are extremely jovial and always greet you with a smile. The whole place was spotless.
The food was good, especially when you think they are catering for so many people. They had a large choice of meat/fish dishes, salads and good desserts too. Breakfast had a very large choice suitable for all. There is a snack bar that serves terraces, literally on the beach, and also another one by the pool, they sell pizza, burgers and salads from 10-6 each day.
Kids were well catered for, no complaints at all on that front, and buffet always handy for kids as can keep going up to find something they like. Kids club was great, my 6 year old had a great time.
Pool was fantastic, never had a problem with sun beds. There was a children very shallow pool which is quite small but is excellent for very young children and another one for babies.
The evening entertainment was good, with children time from 7.30-9 which was the same most nights but they enjoyed it, followed by bingo, then a show. These included an excellent flamenco-rock show, hypnotist, singer Claudia and tributes.
All staff were friendly and approachable and seem to enjoy working in the hotel, especially the bar staff.
The beach is lovely with an unforgettable colour of sea and distance mountains. There are plenty of shops, and a great market to visit once a week.

It may not be the trendiest place, but its position and staff makes it unbeatable.
There was nothing about the holidays we were unhappy with, we could not have asked for more.
The hotel is excellent and away from the busier part of the resort.
The restaurant provided food for all tastes including dishes for the children to choose their own if they wanted, and for vegetarians. Even a fussy eater like myself had more than enough to eat.
Rooms are a good size with centrally controlled air conditioning, cleaned and fresh towels daily. It is well worth paying a bit extra and getting a sea view or pool view. Bathrooms are also a good size with an excellent powerful shower.
Nice gestures like having a free baggage room, and a courtesy room for late leavers.
Overall is an excellent place, right on beach, pool, shops, etc. In 20 years of foreign travel this is one of the few hotels I would recommend to anyone. We have already booked for June.
