In terms of general location, it’s brilliant.
The Son Baulo caters for all down to earth people whatever their tastes. It is clean, pleasant with homely environment. We are two adults and an 11 year old son and landed lucky with this excellently cared for hotel which is superbly situated on a beautiful blue flag beach, abutting a totally unspoilt nature reserved boasting significant archaeological ruins dating back to 800bc.
We had a family room which was tasteful and clean, with TV, hairdryer, and a fridge and more than adequate bath/shower-room with hair and body wash provided. Our balcony overlooked the sea and mountains and the edge of the nature reserve and the interior garden of the hotel.
The hotel staff were fantastic and work extremely hard. We had such fantastic excellent service from all the waiting staff
The pool is fine with a reasonably priced pool cafe/restaurant, but with the sea as warm as a bath and perfect safe bathing for all, spent little time there. There are free sun loungers there too. There are buses to Alcudia, Puerto Pollensa which is pretty (and you can take an onward bus or walk to Pollensa which is lovely) and Porto Cristo and the Caves of Drach and various other places. The local market is on a Friday.

This hotel has a fantastic location right on a beautiful beach with a direct access to the beach from the hotel terraces with free sunbeds (you have to pay for them on the beach, and also for parasols).
The pool area is brilliant with a pool bar, snack area, toddlers swimming pool and play park. The staff are amazing. The children enjoyed the kids clubs. The entertainment was good.
Rooms very comfortable, big, and nice. Good shower and plenty of hot water. Very, very clean. Buffet breakfast and dinner plentiful, and good quality, in particular the mouth-watering desserts. Even a fussy eater like myself had more than enough to eat.

Very good value for money and very close to the beach. Ideal spot. We went on a late deal on Thomson website, very good value for money.
Third time we have been, excellent every time. We so enjoyed the great food, beautiful room (222) and helpful, happy staff which provided us with a lovely relaxing time. We look forward to revisiting them soon.

This is the third time we have stayed at this hotel as we have always found the staff very helpful and friendly, the one exception this year was being hassled to get out of our room despite paying extra to stay there!
Bar staff are always cleaning their area when not serving; and the staff are the same every year so that must be a good sign.
My only gripe is the tea is not up to much, so, take some tea bags and use them instead, also the cappuccino is still filter coffee with spray cream!!!
Entertainment is much the same as other years, although this year they had an American, George Pena, who was really good and well worth seeing.
Yes, we would go back again as have others we met there.

Have stayed at the Hotel Son baulo in July. We had an excellent two weeks. The hotel is great value for money located in a perfect position to get to the beach, away, but not far from the main resort area, however there are still bars and a few shops in the Son Baulo district.
The Thomson entertainer and reps at the resort are good and really made our holidays. The weather has been absolutely fantastic. The staff are polite, helpful and pleasant.
Food excellent, of a high standard, varied, with options for vegetarians and a children buffet.
The hotel is spotlessly clean.
The hotel is geared towards families with young children and probably not for children much older than 10-12.
The rooms are lovely with excellent views of the bay and the natural park, again the cleaning ladies keeps them very clean and tidy, they seem to be working all the time to achieve this.
A good day out visiting Alcudia and Pollensa on the local bus (stop just outside the hotel).
Would truly recommend.

Comparing prices with similar hotels, 3 star, and front position, this is one of the best in Alcudia Bay. As said in many other opinions, the position of the hotel is unbeatable, on a white clean dandy beach, next to a Natural Park, 20 minutes walking by the seaside promenade to the Main resort centre. Quite a few shops and cafes in same area.
The hotel is a traditional 3 star beach hotel but very well run, with an excellent service and an outstanding care of guest.
Rooms are nice and comfortable, air conditioned with flat screen TV, fridge (you must pay 2.60 euros extra for fridge), double or twin beds. Bathroom has bath and shower and again is very spacious.
Guests in the hotel are a mixed of nationalities, most English and German, but we also met some Spanish.
Food is buffet at breakfast and evening, very good indeed in quality and variety, fresh and well cooked with an special dish daily for children, and 2 special for vegies.
Entertainment is focused on children from 7.30 to 9.30 approx., and then the main professional shows come. We had also some bingo (we won 130 euros).
Weather was very good considering it was May, although we had a big storm while there (only 1 day).

We stayed for 2 weeks in October, end of season, but still very good. The hotel was not so busy, but service was even better than usual. Staff extremally kind and wonderful to our small son. Food delicious, specially the home made desserts. Weather some days good, others not too good, a bit windy. We enjoyed the walks in the natural park and beach. They gave us a free upgrade as the hotel was closing for the season and were not fully booked, reception staff were very nice, the room was magnificient, with a four posted bed, and a lounge, both with outstanding views of the whole bay. ( The room we booked was overlooking the street, not bad but not the same)

We had a very happy holidays at the Son Baulo. Our son aged 3 enjoyed the stay very much. This hotel caters very well for toddlers. I have read the rewies, and I must say that this hotel does not offer self catering, so there is some misunderstanding in one review. The situation of the hotel is the bst of the bay, I think that everybody whos has written a review agree with this. The food is very good, taking in maind that they cater for different nationalities and ages. Everyday there is an special dish for children, which they enjoy. We are a young german family, most of the guests in this hotel are english, but we felt very confortable and had no problems at all. Most of the staff spaeks english and german and are very polite and helpful. We ercommend to hirte a car for a couple of days and visit the island.

I wish to share with you mine and my family’s joys of staying at the Hotel Son Baulo, Can Picafort, Majorca.
We discovered the Son Baulo purely by chance in 1981 when my family were quite young and we were looking for somewhere suitable and safe for my daughter and son on our first holiday abroad.
Little did I realise that the Son Baulo has the best beach position in Can Picafort and probably one of the best in Majorca! No road or even pavement in front of the hotel. Simply walk out of the hotel onto the terrace then onto the beach and into the sea. The beach is large and the sea is monitored by Lifeguards in the season.
The hotel is run by a Majorcan family who are very down to earth, friendly and caring - as are all their staff who return to the hotel every season. In fact there are still several staff members present who worked there on our first visit in 1981.
The hotel offers all the usual things that most hotels do. Good food, good drinks and excellent entertainment with clean and comfortable air conditioned rooms (but they are delivered in a way that makes you believe that anything is possible and nothing is too much trouble).
We did try somewhere different in Majorca (1982) but were so disappointed that we have returned to Hotel Son Baulo every year since - including a fantastic 50th birthday holiday and a 60th birthday holiday when not only my daughter and son came along but also my grand daughter/grand son.
We have visited many different places including - France, Germany and Malta and enjoyed each holiday very much but we have always returned to Hotel Son Baulo - our little piece of heaven in Can Picafort, Majorca. We are looking forward to our 30th anniversary of visits to the Hotel Son Baulo next year.
