The food at the hotel was lovely at the delegated meal times although the snacks were the left overs from the previous meal. The reception staff were rude and not helpful at all, the pool was like a funny farm full of screaming kids and people fighting over sunbeds! Other than that i would visit the hotel again but not when the children are on holidays!

Wow!!! Just got back from the most awesome holiday ever!!! Better than USA!
Where to start...well i went to Palma Nova with my friend, mum and dad. We were all unsure about what to expect from the mixed reviews.
The flight was fine, one or two mix ups at the airport - but nothing that couln't be sorted!
Arrived at the hotel - Sol Mirlos - the flinstones theme is great!!! Lots of photo opportunities!! The two hotels are very big, and you an use them both. There air con in the hotel reception is just the biggest relief ever after you have been out in the heat. The lifts are quite small, but we didn't use them that much. We were on the sixth floor too!! We had a sea room view, and my mum and dad had one out the back - our room was slightly bigger (only the bathroom), and our room seeemed to be a bit cooler. They were very, very clean despite what some say on here and they were big enough for two of us. The air conditioning is just a ceiling fan, but if you take a card like a credit card shape and leave it in whilst you are out it makes the room much cooler.
We preferred to spend our time arund the tordos pool as there are loads more activities there!!You have to be out before 9 though to get sunbeds. Make sure you take part in all of the activities, they are great fun!! We did rifle & pistol shooting, archery, water polo, water basket, water volley, volleyball, french boules, aerobics, aqua gym...the lot!! Even Miss Bikini! We got lots of certificates too on the night!
The entertainment team were fantastic, and it was probably them who made my holiday so much fun!!! The night time entertainment was good as well.
Make sure you stay by the pool and join in with the special day on thursday - i'm not sure whether this was a one off because there was a tv crew there, but there are lots of teams competing in all the events!!
Make sure you get to know the staff, they are so much fun!!
The food was very nice aswell!!! Its just a help yourself buffet! Wide variety of choice for both tea and breakfast. There are PS2's, computers, pool tables, pin ball machines, tv's (we watched some of the olympics)
Some things that we did during the day were:
Golf Fantasia: was ok (but only do 18 holes though) 52 is too many
Aqualand: we went here rather than western water park, (but you hear lots of different things about which is better. It cost about 16 euros, but it was great fun - especially the boomerang.
Palma: we went shopping here for half a day, was great especially all of the shops near el cortes ingles. Lots of busses running from just outside the hotel.
Palma Nova Beach: it is very very nice, but i am much more of a pool girl - i made sure i was back at the hotel for the water activities!
We went out almost everynight, make sure you stay at the hotel for the transvestitie night though!!! and the acrobats. We went into magaluf most nights, it is only a short walk along the beach. Make sure you go to the 5 clubs for 10 euros (babas, carwash, boomerang, tokio joes. An almost certain thing that you have to do is boomerang on a saturday night!!!! - Pat Sharp baby! BCM is wicked aswell. 20 euros, all inclusive bar (thats in first floor, bcm, and millenium). And you get free stuff - we got a tshirt, body board, hula necklace and vanity mirror!
Bars which are a must are Chaplins, Revolution, Mulligans (where you can see the 2 in 1 toilet), Juniors, Coyote Ugly bar, (dont go to stop near boomerand - not very nice). There arent really any clubs in Palma Nova - just a karaoke bar.
A night out at the Pirates is a must aswell, shop around for tickets because the prices vary a lot. Despite what some say they arent totally sold out. We went to the wednesday night adult show - freestyle night. So there was a lot of banter - wicked though! Try to get there for just after 10ish because there are massive queues.
I think that is about all i can say!!! I hope it has helped alot!!
I could not fault this holiday whatsoever, and despite what you say at the beginning of the holiday about people reserving sunbeds, you will be doing it by the 3rd day!!
All I have left to say is that next year i am definately going back and staying in the same place.
*Please do me a big favour though, and if you go make sure you say hi to Carles the entertainer from laura the mosquito girl, and please say hi to Dean the entertainer from the Redcar girls!
Bye x x

The hotel was a nice surprise, clean well situated, the staff were really friendly and helpful, always (with one exception) a smile was given, which this day & age is rare.
We stopped half board and found the breakfast was really good (back bacon would have been nice though), the evening meal was adequate and very english ,which suited me & my partner very well.
It is an ideal location right on the edge of both resorts, relaxed Palma Nova or livlier Magaluf.
Reading all the other reviews, yes there are things that could be better ie air con, pool layout etc, but would certainly go again.
I've stayed in a lot worse Hotels than this.
Can't comment on entertainment went out everynight.

We had a lovely family holiday... despite a few problems! We met some lovely people and the hotel and staff were, on the whole, great! However, we would not stay at the Tordos again because of these problems.
CLEANLINESS - The hotel in general was kept clean, and you could not complain about the rooms at the height of the season.
Linen and towels were frequently changed, but not always for clean ones (some were badly stained). I took the liberty of putting the children's 'dirty' bedspreads in the wash when we arrived... and they were not replaced for several days.
Despite the hard work of the maintenance staff in dealing with the many guests, around the pool area was awful and a health and safety hazard (partly due to inconsiderate people leaving half drunk cups on the floor, which often tipped over). The residue and 'muck' from the day made the area immediately around the pool like an ice rink. Whilst we were there, other guests had sustained nasty injuries, such as broken bones.
FOOD - The food was good and plentiful, if a little greasy and repetitive (especially the vegetarian choice).
LOCATION - Couldn't fault this. Plenty to see and do within a short walk.
STAFF - The bar staff maintained a good sense of humour considering the job they had to do (with one arm behind their back!). Be warned... there are 3 'all inclusive' tills to serve around 1000 thirsty, frustrated guests = queues, queues and more queues.
In the main, all staff were pleasant and helpful. However, one instance when my son was bit on the forehead by a mosquito (his head swelled up quite badly), the receptionist was most unhelpful and totally unsympathetic. In the absence of our reps, we had to resort to looking for the nearest medical centre with no direction or guidance.
ENTERTAINMENT - Some of the external shows were excellent, and so too were some of the hotel run ones. Miss Transvestite night was a riot! The staff work so hard, from very early till very late.
WARNING>>> Did have a problem with the Children's Club. On our first full day there, our son (aged 6) asked to go along. My husband took my daughter to the pool so he could 'keep an eye' on him (the club is run by the pool area). I took the opportunity to unpack up in the room. I ventured out onto the balcony to see my son wandering aimlessly around and heading into the hotel... alone! Unable to attract my husband

We found the Tordos fantastic. All staff were very helpful and friendly.
Food was superb and plenty of variety.
Rooms are air conditioned which was great and cleaned every day.
A little disappointed only 2 lifts in such a large hotel.
Beach is just behind hotel and is beautiful.
Good all round entertainments progamme and the kids loved it when Fred Flintstone came out to say hello every day.
Palma Nova strip 2 minutes away and Magaluf 10 minutes.
We have already booked to go back June 2005 so that must tell you what we really thought of our holiday and the Sol Tordos itself.

We stayed in the hotel Sol Tordos. It was allocation on arrival, our parties ages ranged from 10 to 71.
It was an excellent hotel and we will be returning this year.
Food was excellent, staff very friendly and helpful.
Our only complaint is that the sun loungers were stacked far too high for smaller people and OAP's.

Hotel - Was immaculate. Air conditioned lobby with loads of seating (big fat couches!!. A bar and pool table and TV in english.
Rooms - Well impressed. Spotless, cleaned everyday, modern and we had the view overlooking the sea. Similar to holiday inn or travel lodge style. Bed was really comfy and bathroom was like something out of a designer catalogue. Decent sized balcony aswell
Good tip is to open your doors in the room and the windows in the corridor opposite and youll get the the best breeze !! Rooms have celing fans which you could not do without.
Food - Was not so impressed. It was fine for a few days but then the same food seemed to be repeated over and over and there was a lot of german food on offer which is like vomit. But you will always find something to eat ( no english breakfast when we went).
2 pools - Both too small really but you can make doo and defo not enough lounging space. Kids seemed well taken care of though.
Location was perfect - Everything you want within a few footsteps including the beach which is massive. You can walk right to Magaluf or left to Palma Nova ( nice walk at night and no touters. The touters in Magaluf will get on your nerves cos they blag you till you give in. Just keep walking and saying no.
Entertainment was tacky and relied on audience participation. Bit intimidating sometimes if your not the caberet type.
Trips out - Avoid the caves of draque, pearl factory, and wood factory tour. What a waste of sunbathing time that was. There was a guide who sounded like Margarita Pracatan and you couldnt understand her if you were spanish, let alone english. The pearl factory was shut and the wood factory was shut. Caves are one of those things you only need to see once. Better off hiring a car to do the caves.
Thats it folks - Hotel was fine and there is nothing to be concerned about. Food was a let down for me but I didnt exactly starve!! and pool was cramped but I still got burned so go on Enjoy it.
