3rd time at the Lagotel. Food this year was better although for young children not so good. Location is less than 10 minutes from the beach (turn left at the hospital and then right at the end of the road for a quicker way to the beach!)
Entertainment was poor. Out of 14 nights maybe 5 good nights with the rest absolute rubbish......Stars in their eyes for kids was very poor and not evening entertainment.
Arnold Gutbuckle - very poor and the TV quiz night was cheap rubbish.
Entertainment needs to improve before we would consider going back.
Hotel staff very good except for one of the restuarant staff who moaned if no one gave him a tip (people will know who I mean, shirt/tie in the evening and sold the drinks!)
Pools, fantastic but why do the reps say they will remove tools from sunbeds, if you can not be bothered getting up for a sunbed then tough!!

The team were great and made us all feel very welcome, the entretainment was okay until we saw a comedy vocalist Arnold Gutbucket, he was hilarious and made our night, go see if you see hs name on.
We enjoyed the food and in general it was a very good holiday. We would return.

The food at this Hotel was fabulous I am a very picky eater but every night there was something I really enjoyed the food cannot be faulted. The beds were made every day and clean towels supplied if needed. Hotel was very clean and staff very friendly and helpful.
Entertainment was OK but if the weather had been bad not sure what the children would have done as only heard of outdoor activities. Would definitely visit Hotel again but be more prepared against the mozzies

Stayed at the Lagotel for two weeks and had a fantastic time.
The food is buffet style and has a wide variety of choice, even for my very picky 2 year old,although the rush for food by some people did mean it was a less than relaxing experience with a 4yr and 2 yr old in tow.
Be warned... the desserts WILL ruin any diet, I dont have a sweet tooth but found myself indulging as they were so nice.
The rooms are very basic but were more than adequate as all we did was get changed and slept in them however I think the addition of a fridge would be most welcome.
The maids were lovely and the room was cleaned every day to a very high standard and we had our sheets changed three times, they also provided hand and bath gel which was a most welcome surprise.We were on the fifth floor over the kitchen but we were never disturbed and there was no smells usually associated with this, and our view was amazing.
My only concern was the balcony railings which a child could easily climb you really need to be on your guard.The reception staff were excellent and very helpful, we hired a car and reception contacted us when the car had arrived which we didnt expect.
The Hotel entertainment team were fantastic and the standard of entertainment was very high (the kenyon boys and arnold gutbucket highly recommended)the pool over the road was a lot quieter and my kids were never out of it. As for the First Choice reps and kids club - didnt have much to do with them but a smile wouldnt have killed them.
All in all highly recommended for famillies but watch the mozzies!

i stayed here last yr with my 8 yr old daughter.i never saw her until she was hungry .she went to every kids club going and cried when we had to come home.the pool on the other side is much quieter but has a bar. much more relaxed.evening entertainment was usual hotel type.parrot show ,hypnotist was good.lots of mozzies at night as its by a lake which you can take rowing boats on.[we never did]5 minute walk up to the shops and hair braiders,burger king[cant get away from them].a man does little pony rides by a bridge on the way.mini golf by hotel and football and tennis courts.trip to rancho grande is a must for horse lovers.you can go in sangria cart or walk ,trot or gallop groups.nice views of sea and through wooded area,then back for line dance ,music and barbeque. we have been twice now and this time we went in trotting group.i cant comment on the beach as we never made it from hotel. a very nice relaxing holiday.this may we are ging to ibiza with my 19 and 9 year olds my friend and her 2 yr old so will be much more hectic..have fun.

Great hotel, accommodation very clean. Buffet style breakfast and evening meals were extremely well varied and even the most pickiest eaters are able to find something to suit.
The childrens club was very well organised and the two pool areas were brilliant for children of all ages. The evening entertainment was very well received by children and adults.
My only negative comment would be the amount of mosquitos - do remember to take lots of insect repellent although this wouldn't put me off visiting again and recommending it to anyone with a young family.

We travelled to this Hotel 1st week in Oct 06, nice time to visit, not to busy or quiet. Food okay and I'm a vegetarian. Hotel staff and holiday rep's very helpful and polite. Very clean hotel, not a bad word to say, plenty of wheelchair & pushchair access. Our daughter was under 2 when we went so not much for her to do, but with a choice of pools and lovely weather, you can't complain. Would recomend this Hotel.

Just back from a fantastic holiday at Lagotel. The hotel is immaculately clean.
Food is fantastic with a wide range to suit all tastes.
Rooms spacious.
Pool area clean and welcoming.
The only downside is the dire night-time entertainment. The shows don't start till 10pm so it's a bit late for little ones. Jimbo the bingo caller is so bad he's good.
Overall we would recommend this hotel just don't expect a great show at night.

Having arrived in the afternoon first impressions of the outside of the hotel could do with a coat of paint. Inside reception was very clean and tidy, staff were very helpful and could speak good English.
The apartment was also very clean, spacious and a very lovely view over the lake. The kitchen area is very basic 2 electric rings, toaster and fridge, you have to hire a kettle if you want one. Towels are changed every 2 days with regular maid service.
My only complaint of the apartment is that the walls are thin and you can hear everything going on next door from talking, kids crying and furniture moving around. We went self-catering but dined in the hotel a few times, food was very good a running buffet and at a very reasonable price.
There was a main pool by the hotel but if you went across the road there is a smaller quieter pool with a very good snack/bar area. Also on that side of the road are the tennis courts, football pitch and a mini-golf (played many a game) Stayed once for the entertainment that was enough! walked further down the road to Cheers bar and the Swan. Kids loved the snail racing at the Swan.
