The closest resort to the hotel is Jandia, a small and fairly low-key town in comparison with some other resorts. At the same time though, there's plenty in the way of shops/supermarkets for duty-frees, although, like others have said, I'd strongly advise against buying anything from the electrical shops... some of them will just rip you off! I was particularly impressed by the cleanliness - it didn't feel untidy or cluttered at all.
A few bars and the like are dotted around in the shopping centres and on the beach, but nothing in the way of clubs... definitely not a place for those looking for lots of action! I didn't leave the hotel very much, so didn't sample any of the entertainment in resort so can't comment too much, but there didn't look to be an awful lot.
The beaches in the Jandia area are absolutely STUNNING... golden sand, turquoise sea, exceptionally clean and tidy, and I found there to be plenty of space... easy to find yourself a prime spot.
In conclusion, a good place for chilling out, but with enough for what you need... not for the party crowd though!

The resort was as clean as you would expect. There was some building work going on in the Jandia area and also a new fast road link from the airport to the south being constructed but this was not a problem.
The resort had all that we were looking for and more. If you want a bit of night life it was there but if you wanted just to browse the shops and stop at a few bars you were spoilt for choice. The beaches were spectacular. Miles of golden sand and clear blue sea. You could make the mistake of thinking you had been dropped in the carribean.
It is the nicest part of the island. We will be going back!!!..

We walked to Jandia along the beach one morning. It took about 1 ½ hrs to walk at quite a slow pace. There are tide times on the gate that leads to the beach – so make sure that you check these before you set out. The walk is quite rocky at the start but gets easier the nearer you get to Jandia (the lighthouse is by the centre of the resort). We saw some chipmunks on the way, plus a lot of nudists!
Jandia itself is nothing to get excited about – it’s just hotels, shops and restaurants – but we did have 2 nice meals there and got some very cheap vodka to take back home.
We caught a taxi back to the hotel and it was less than 5 euros.

Jandia is a small, clean village but has a reasonable choice of restaurants and bars, all of a high standard.

The resort is very clean. Every day you will see handymen trimming palm trees and sweeping the path.
The beach is the best I have ever seen (I have been to most holiday islands). Lovely long and golden. The wind
is a nightmare though and on one of our rare sunny days the wind was blowing a gale and whipping the sand up so hard that it stung. The wind also takes the edge off the temperature and on some days it was too uncomfortable to take your t-shirt off.
The resort itself has good Italian restaurants that do great pizza.
For English people the place can get a bit lonely as you very rarely meet non locals who speak English. It is a very German resort.
There is a great English pub called the Boot and Ball, which is run by a really friendly English family. They were also opening up a second bar near to the Punta Marina apartments. They have all the TV channells including all the football.
The sub cat trips is really good, where you go 30m under the sea!!
I liked the resort, it was quiet and relaxing but the February weather spoilt it completely. We went for sun but had 8 days of rain, and only 4 days of sun of which one was blowing a gale. The temperatures struggled to get over 20oC.
I would warn all holiday makers going to be mindful of the wind and the unpredicatable weather in the winter months. It not a guaranteed week of sun worshiping.
One other point is there are not many young people there. The resort is mainly old couples. I would have loved it, only had the weather been good, so don't let it put you off.

Jandia is a growing town- clean and tidy with a selection of shops, etc.
Mainly German tourists catered for. Beaches in the area are first rate. Good bus service and improving road system.

Can't really comment on the resort as we loved the hotel so much that we did not venture out. The only times we did was to walk in both directions on the beach.
Beaches very good and clean, sea was a bit rough, there were no swimming signs. Quite rocky in places if you walked towards Sotavento beach - more open if you walk towards Morro Jable. Quite a lot of nudists when you walk towards Sotavento beach.

The Princess was about two miles from Jandia, the bus and taxi service was excellent.
Many walked along the beach to Jandia or Morro Jabble, not for the less mobile. Jandia is a purpose built resort, a little on the plastic side, Morro Jabble is an old village that has retained some its charm, with quite a few good fish restaurants on the front.
The resort is popular destination for the german tourists and as such genrally caters for them. Both parts of the resorts have their own personalities but are a little low key for the younger element.
