Been visiting the Cala Nova twice a year now for approximately 6 years. It has a lovely location, however there are still lots of steps to access the hotel. It is about 15 minutes walk to the beach and about 10 minutes to the commercial centre, so ideally located with lovely views from your balcony!
The staff are always wonderful, especially Victor, the bar manager who is a scream!
The entertainment was really good, with lots of kids games early on and then adults games for later once you have a few drinks inside you!
I read another review which said the pool was too small to accommodate 600 rooms - the hotel has actually only got about 40 rooms, so the pool is ideally suited. There are eight floors with about 6 or 7 rooms on each floor, and 3 rooms on the ground floor which are slightly bigger.
The Cala Nova is a really brilliant hotel, much better than numerous others I have stayed at in Puerto Rico, and I would definitely reccommend it to anyone for a great holiday!!

The Cala Nova Apartments are well situated at the base of a steep hill and very close to the main shopping centre that hosts about 120 restaurants. There is a lift service for guests and cases.
The pool and pool area is quite small and in my opinion not big enough to cope with guests in over 600 rooms. That said the pool area was immaculately clean as was the pool.
The bar was well stocked and clean with very good service provided by staff. Food was only served until 5.30 pm but drinks served until 12.30 pm.
The entertainment was o.k. and varied and a standard karaoke evening included.
The apartment was very clean with a bath/shower provided. The maid service was first class with towels changed as often as you wished.
All in all we would probably go back because of the location of the apartments and the standard of cleanliness but the small pool and pool area is definitely a downside.

The Cala Nova is situated in a good place at the bottom of the hillside. There are still quite a few steps to reach it but in comparison to some other it is not bad at all.
The rooms are nice, with a seperate bedroom, and a bath and shower, everything you need, and the maid was in everyday except Sunday.
The pool area was nice although a little small, and the bar was good although they don't provide food after 5pm unless you hare attending the barbacue night etc. There is only one lift which seemed to take along time to come sometimes, but not a major problem.
Overall very clean and nicely done out, the only thing was for me that with it being so closely situated to the commercial centre, I could hear all the noise when having a quieter night.

We stayed at the Cala d'Or this is the second time we have been here had friends the first week with us then family the next. The only complaint that we have is that we had no hot water for the two weeks but who needs it.
Many thanks to Dave the entertainer our daughter Riley (Hi Dave if you see thisxxx) Brought her right out of her shell we arrived back last night and she was still up til 1.00 this morning singing King Caracticus, Cheers.

The hotel was nice looking and clean. Situated half way up a hill it gave good views.
Maid service was good and flat kept clean.
The rooms were on the small side but ok for the week.
It was hot when we were there but still ok. If it were summer I would've not liked it so much as no air-con in the small flat and even with windows open it would be uncomfortable. Also too noisy for young kids.
Staff very nice, 1 lift which can be a pain on arrivals/departure days.
Small pool which was ok but even with no Germans it was surprising how all the sunbeds were "reserved" at 8am but not occupied until 11! This lasted until the Newcastle flight was leaving then there were empty beds.

We stayed at the Cala d'Or, which belongs to this hotel.
It was a most brilliant holiday, the hotel was spotless.
The entertainment was good, dj Dave was really fab and brill with the kids.
The reception staff were very helpful. There was some repair work going on and the workers were ace, I needed help getting rid of the one and only cockroach seen all week and called on the lads for help, they couldn't have been any nicer. When we left they carried my case down the short flight of steps.
There was a BBQ night and the food was lovely, thought we could have done with more than given.
The weather was lovely in the day but at night was cool, only to be expected for the time of the year, apparantly it had only just turned nice, it had been quite cool for the past 6 weeks with rain and a bit of snow!!!
For a real nice, quiet drink go to Patalavaca, 2 mins away by taxi and go to the Juke Box bar, it has been a favourite with us for many years and the same people run it, it's just lovely.

I love this hotel and the resort I would recommend this hotel to everyone, it was clean, it had very nice food, the bar staff were nice and the entertainment was good.
The hotel olso owns a newer hotel called the Cala Dor which has much better entertainment for the kids and family.
These hotels ( apartments ) are both very nice but I prefer The hotel Cala Dor.
