We (the hubby, 2 girls then aged 7 & 4 and self) stayed in the Colina Mar Apartments in Dec 2002 for 1 week. And we had a great time. Except for the weather, the 1st 2 days they had torrential downpours but we can`t blame anyone for that.
The restaurant food was good enough for us. Enough choice as well. We went Self Catering but ate there every night. The girls loved the choice of different ice-creams!!!! With the girls, we decided to get there early every night about 10-15 minutes before they were ready to open. After about half an hour of opening it could get quite packed and it was hard to find a table. But other than that we found the food and the staff very good.
The entertainment staff at the time we went were GREAT!!!! Especially with the kids.
The pool was O.K. I think there were 3 pools. It was hard to get a sunbed by the pool unless you got their early. But that`s the same anywhere really. When we went to the pool we went to the main pool as because it was December the other pools were deserted. Above the main pool there`s a absolutely BRILL mural of a paradise/garden scene.
The lifts could be a pain sometimes, breaking down. The entertainment at night was quite good. And there was a club for the kids in the daytime as well, but our kids only went once as they were more interested in swimming in the pool. They have a couple of washing machines/tumble dryers if you want to get the washing done on the last day before you go back. Think I`ve covered every thing. I`ve surprised myself actually as it was 10 months ago that we were there.
Take care all. And ENJOY your HOLIDAY.

P.S. I nearly forgot the AWSOME views as its right at the top of the Mountain/Hill, especially at night time, with all the lights from Puerto Rico centre.

we stayed at the colina da mar for two weeks and it was one of the best holidays we have had.
there were a lot of cats around but they didnt harm you and would only become a nuisance if you started feeding them,so its your fault then if you dont want them hanging around!
The entertainment was really good, fantastic for the children.
We thought the food was great. Lots of choice, some things we had never tried before. I can honestly say we thoroughly enjoyed every meal,we were very adventurous, even my husband who's usually a meat and two veg kinda guy!
we liked the location, the only problem was the taxi ride down to the bottom, winding round and round i felt like i was on a roller coaster.
the rooms were basic but clean, the cleaners were always around,
we found the staff to be very friendly, in particular one man, we dont know his name.
we would definitely stay at the colina da mar again.

Food not bad at all,a good choice so,we were both happy,if you wanted to go s/c it was well equipt.
We liked being at the top of the hill, mainly because the europe centre was ideal for shopping eating out (not that we did much)and the bars there are much better in our opinion. The staff were BRILLIANT they couldn't do enough for anyone,The enterainment was very family orientated the dj was from manchester he was brilliant,i have to say its very rare we stay in the hotel bar,but the prices were so resonable what with 2 or 3 happy hours and friendly bar staff,we couldn't resist.By the way taxis are so cheap, the big hill is not a problem, but if you like to do a lot of flat walking!!!!forget it.Another thing, the first room we were in was right over the disco,we asked for a move!!!!no problem at all.

Having stayed here a couple of times (June 1989, February 1992), and having stayed in Puerto Rico many, many times, I can't understand all the people who are whinging on about things.
Our first visit in June 1989 was excellent. We had accommodation over the smaller pool. This was a bit of a bind having to hump our suitcases what seemed like miles to our apartment from the Reception Area, but the peace and quiet was well worth it. This is where my (now) husband actually proposed to me, so it does have fond memories for me.
February 1992 - again we stayed nearer the smaller pool, and this time we took my parents. They loved the apartments, the food, the bar and even the staff. So all in all another excellent holiday.
Although it is a number of years since we actually stayed there, we still go back every now and then for a drink in the bar.
For those who keep complaining about their holidays, why not try doing something about it. OK, so if the food's not up to scratch, go somewhere else. There are plenty of places to eat in the Europa Centre - having said that, when we went in 1989, the Europa Centre hadn't even been built (well the skeleton of it was there, but no shops).
If the accommodation is dirty, contact reception. If something's broken, contact reception. If the apartment is too close to the disco area, contact reception. If they don't do anything ask to be moved to a different hotel - easy! Might upset your holiday a bit, but at least you won't carry on whinging about the same things for 2 solid weeks!
Don't forget, you make your own fun on holiday, don't rely on your accommodation or fellow holiday makers - MAKE YOUR OWN FUN!
