To celebrate Julia's 50th we needed to "chill" out in the sun away from stresses and family. We were lucky we had a fabulous room (No.211) which had 2 balconies overlooking the pool, and very spacious and clean. Towels changed as promised and our room was kept spotless!

We enjoyed the food and felt that there was a good choice - even though we didn't have children with us we saw a great choice for the kids! and I took advantage everyday of the non-stop supply of ice cream!! yum!

Staff in all areas very helpful and friendly. Thanks Antonio for our "extra" drinks ahem! Thanks too to Van, Kieran (Pop Idol contestant) and Hayley and Matt. These kids are SO talented they should be discovered as entertainment top class!!

Pool is deep at the shallow end, Julia a non-swimmer did get in to cool off but at 5' 3" it came to her shoulders so only let your kids in with armbands or rings if non-swimmers. Kiddie pool at side but not very big! Plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas-you need them as one day it was 114 degrees! Roof sun-terrace lovely (though very very hot!!!) adults only (no umberella's though) and you do need one up there. Showers to cool off and sauna if you want to use it.

Food, bottled water and ice cream available up there too. Give it a try nice and peaceful!.... but beware you may cook so plenty of sunblock on! Thanks to Ocean Clubs own skin specialist Michaela who was on hand to advise about sun protection and kept reminding us throughout the day to protect ourselves especially the kids. Pool not big enough for blow up toys for kids really so can understand the ban as for no t.shirts to be worn - didn't know this myself but wet t shirts on kids in the sun is a no no as may dry in the suns heat whilst they are in and out of water and t.shirt could stick to the skin! So you have to have a supply of dry t.shirts ready to change. Kids club seemed popular as were the trips out.

There was this rule of NO music etc after midnight but felt the rule of moving you off the terrace outside whilst finishing your drinks or having a chat with fellow holidaymakers was a bit stringent and over the "top". Couldn't see the logic in this as many then went to their rooms and were noisier!!??? or went across the road to other hotel where Ocean Club residents were allowed (you had to BUY your drinks there though) Apparently it is NOT the hotels rule as an old established resident put in a writ to have no noise after midnight in Calloa Savaje and it was passed by the powers that be! Sorry folks but after a hard day sunbathing, swimming, eating, drinking and enjoying ice-cream we were glad to get to bed and have a good nights undisturbed sleep (we are oldies though!)

Going back the the entertainments, have a go at killer darts and killer pool it is great fun and gets you out of the sun for a bit. I haven't thrown a dart for years but managed to come 2nd with best out of three darts and knocked all the men out ha! Pool too, just whack the balls with the cue best out of three goes so no professionals here then!

The venue for the entertainment was very poor. Room had BIG pillars situated throughout the room and depending where you sat it was impossible to see the entertainer without craning your neck if able to see at all. Ocean Club can't you make the pillars thinner down the middle. I expect they are part of the hotel's structure but if you thinned them down left wide bit at the top and the bottom - could even have a table fixture round the wide bit at the botom at least the audience could see the acts from all angels then as the entertainers each night were very good and professional. Because you couldn't see the acts from different seating areas you tended to chat to fellow holidaymakers therefore making it noisy and appearing rude whilst the act was on because you were chatting. We only chat cos all we could see was the damn pillar in front of us. So ok food for thought - for next season Ocean Club - think THIN NARROWER - pillars. Come on Van get the room sorted as it is a shame as talent viewing is lost because of this building oversight.

I know some of the hotel rooms are grotty, we were lucky, so it is in their best interest to smarten up those that are not up to standard - so Ocean Club take your complaints seriously and First choice the rooms NOT overlooking the pool should be at a cheaper rate if possible. All in all for "US" anyway it was fine. It was so friendly that we made lots of friends that week, amongst the staff and fellow holidaymakers so thanks to Fran, Stu, Larry, Anne, Chubby and his wife, Paul, Laura, Zoe and Loren, Kathy and Eddie, we really had a good laugh bucks fizzing round the pool with Hotel Champagne (plastic cups of course) you made our holiday!!

Give the hotel a try it is not all bad honestly!!

We got to the hotel early hours had to book this holiday due to First Choice telling us the holiday we booked to Bulgaria had a lot of building work, I wish we had still gone.

Food left out always cold. Room very dirty big cracks in walls near door also bathroom. Cockroaches everywhere even in dining room. Husband woke one morning with one in bed, got video to prove this sent all VIDEO to Holidays from Hell. Staff were helpfull after a week of asking to change rooms so noisey over bar. Be aware room 112 and 113 moved to fourth floor lot quiter entertainment not to bad when fetched acts in.

I also looked at the reviews thought cant be all that bad. It was PLEASE PLEASE DONT GO TO THIS HOTEL. THEY ARE ALL TELLING THE TRUTH

Our family went in April! All inclusive - 4 adults 2 children, all different ages and we all loved it! The location was good because it wasn't right in the middle of everywhere but it wasn't far out either and there was buses along the road you can catch anyway! However, the food was good, the staff were excellent, the entertainment was good after 10 o'clock before that I didn't like it because it was bingo and quizzes. After 10 it was more lively but there's a few pubs down the road that are good called Beckhams so we went there a few nights. Only 2 mins down the road!

I would go back to the Ocean Club, no problem. It was clean, pleasant staff, good locations, not bad entertainment and stunning waiters!

We booked this hotel last minute and were pleasantly surprised, our room was spacious and very clean. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, they had to make some repairs to the plumbing in our room and asked if we would like to change, as we were happy with our room we were offered a day trip, on our return the repairs were completed and we were not inconvenienced in the slightest, we received a bottle of champagne and a large bowl of fruit in appreciation. We felt that the hotel was very well organised and the courtesy bus was excellent. The food was very good most of the time, there was even a microwave should you want your food a little hotter, although this was not used very much. I particularly like the lunches, as well as a hot selection there was an assortment of cold meats and cheese alongside the salad bar. We found the entertainment very good, we enjoyed Van who is a good alrounder and the two girl singers, although sometimes it could be a bit loud. The quizzes were great, perhaps not the bingo, all in all better than some 4 star hotels we have stayed in.

First time on a all inclusive Hol and enjoyed it.
Rooms where nice and clean.

I thought the food was just as good as a 4* Hotel that I have also stayed in many a time.
Free bus on so location did not matter
Hotel staff very pleasant & friendly
also First Choice resident staff excelent

Entertainment bit boring unless you like quizes and bingo.
Resident M/C totally useles, seen better pub entertainers.

Plastic 1/2 beer glasses by poolside, but pint size glasses in bar and your are allowed one person to get two drinks

Pool way to deep thus being cold all time, sectioned shallow pool for toddlers.

all sunbeds had mattresses dont see that in other 3* hotels.
Yes I would stay here again as long as the price is right

We stayed here over Xmas/New Year 2003/4. Our room was ok - at least we weren't overlooking cranes as other people we met were. The staff are very helpful and all spoke good English. The food wasn't the best we've ever had, but then again it wasn't the worst. The thing that us off was unsupervised kids dipping into to the food, having a lick and putting it back! Really off-putting!
The entertainment can be summed up in one word - NOISY. They did try hard, but too much, never left you alone, music by pool, games, quizzes etc. (BUTLIN'S IN THE SUN) most days took refuge on adult only sun roof - sheer bliss) At night ent. ok but some of the acts were impossible to see because of the shape of room - huge pillars blocking view of stage, but most of the acts we saw were good.
