This was our second visit to Tenerife but our first in the Cristian Sur Complex. Our first impression was very favourable
The complex is only 3-storeys high so we were never overpowered or overlooked by other apartments. The view over the beautifully laid out and spotless pool area was magnificient. The location of Cristian Sur is within a short walk of the main pedestrianised shopping centre of Los Cristianos.
The most impressive part of our holiday was the help and assistance given to us and all others by Gaynor & Richard. They own a property management company, Atlantic Horizons, from an office on the site, letting their apartments, changing currency, selling excursions, renting security boxes, etc., etc., but nothing was too much trouble for them regardles of whether you were a customer of theirs or not.
Tenerife is certainly an island we shall revisit and Cristian Sur shall be our specific destination.
Gaynor & Richard - if you do read this, we shall be in touch soon to arrange accommodation and thanks again for all your assistance and patience.

The accommodation was the best we'd been to. It was well equiped and spacious, the surrounding area of the apartments was well kept and the pool was great. I would differently recommend this to anyone!

My boyfriend and I went there in the first week of May 2002 and I must admit the apartments were beautiful. We were located close to pubs/shops etc and found it easy to find our way around. Be warned though....we were staying in a ground floor apartment located on the main road. On the second last day of our holiday, our apartment was broken into and all our money, jewellery, duty free, credit card etc was stolen. Unfortunately, our apartment did not have a safety deposit box. We had been away that day on a boating trip between the hours of 1pm and 7pm. When we returned home, the patio door had been busted and the whole frame had been buckled. When I reported it to the reception desk, the attendant was not too concerned. Luckily, there was a local Englishman who was able to give me advice on who to report it to etc. We had to travel to the local police station in Las Americas the next day (in this country, the police do not come to you), where we spent two hours reporting the incident via an interpreter. I noted that our apartment was broken into on a day that the cleaners were not present. If you don't have a safety deposit box in your room, there are boxes available at the back of the complex (which we did not know about until the day we were leaving). Be vigilant and take care of your possessions and don't leave anything lying around in your room. This complex is a mixture of residential and holiday accomodation.
Still, I wouldn't let this put you off. There is a fantastic chinese restaurant straight across from the complex and a few karaoke bars. The one we liked best was called Winstanley's, which is a British owned pub. Not too far away is a local supermarket, which is great for bread, cheap alcohol and loads of goodies.
If you go here, you'll have a fantastic time, you'll thoroughly enjoy yourself and feel completely relaxed by the time you leave. Just be careful though and look after your things. Even after being burgled, I would still go back there. Next time, I'll take more precautions. Have fun!

Staying at the Cristian Sur Apartments in May 2002, we were absolutely delighted with our accommodation. Apartments were a very good size, well equipped and maintained. There are varying styles of accommodation, the typical one bedroom apartment with bathroom in hallway, the one bedroom en suite apartment with additional toilet in hallway, and 2 bedroom apartments with two full bathrooms, some of which are duplex style with roof terrace. Maid service was six times per week with general cleaning and making up of beds, plus linen and towel change every second day. The complex itself is very well designed, with most apartments set around two swimming pools, each with separate children's pool. There are three floors to each block with no lifts, anyone with walking difficulties would be advised to request a ground floor apartment as the stairs are rather steep. A number of the apartments face on to a busy and noisy main road, specifying a preference for a pool or sea/mountain view may help avoid being allocated one of those apartments. On site facilities include cafe/snack bar, 2 very reasonably priced supermarkets (one sells lovely not to be missed baguettes), doctor's surgery, exchange bureau and excursions office, and very cheap internet access. Reception is manned 8am until midnight, with security patrols outwith these hours. Guests also have full use of all facilities at the Tenerife Sur.
The complex is in a very good location with a small selection of bars and restaurants nearby, the best of which is undoubtedly Philpotts. Just opened a couple of weeks ago by an English family, it serves the best food in the area.
A stroll to the centre of Los Cristianos would take around 15 minutes, or to the beginning of PDLA around 25/30 minutes. The bus terminus is near the complex, with services to all parts of the island. Take extreme care around bus stops or on board busy bus services, pickpocketing is on the increase. (See other topics in the Tenerife section of Holidaytruths Forums about security). If travelling locally around Los Cristianos or PDLA, taxis are plentiful and reasonable. If phoning home, street call boxes are ridiculously cheap and reliable.
The Cristian Sur Apartments are available in the UK through JMC and Direct Holidays. However, if you have access to cheap flights to Tenerife, you can book accommodation directly through the on-site apartment rental agency, Atlantic Horizons. This way, you will know in advance exactly which of the above styles of accommodation is available, and any specific requirements you might have can be guaranteed. Atlantic Horizons is operated by an extremely helpful British couple, Richard & Gaynor Heppolette, who can be contacted on 0034 922 790299 or by e-mail at info@atlantichorizons.com.
Cristian Sur has to be one of the best self catering complexes in South Tenerife.
