Beaches

Hard to give a fair review on a November visit but beach was very clean although it sloped steeply into the sea.The main shopping street running parralel to the beach seemed to go on forever-we never got to the end.

It was a surprise that the resort was so clean after visiting a dirty hotel.
We thought it would follow that the resort was the same. We had arrived at the end of the holiday season so there was not much going on in the way of entertainment but the shops were nearby and they stayed open late each night including sunday.
The resort has a good rail link to other resorts along the coast so a trip to Barcelona took only 50 mins and the cost was 6 euros return. The beach was similar to very small pieces of gravel. It was soft and cleaned every day.
Even in October the sea was warm enough to swim in and the water was very clear.

This was the first time I have visited mainland Spain and was very impressed with the cleanliness of both the streets and beach area.

The beaches at the resort were clean and well looked after, the town was and old town so the streets were a bit narrow.the market town was good as it was mostly pedestrianised.so made it easy to walk around all the shops.on the whole I liked the resort

Calella, on the whole, is pretty clean with plenty of litter and recycling bins, even on the beach[British resorts take note]. The difficulty of kerbside cleaning is the same as we see in England, cars permanently parked thus making it very difficult. It would be unfair to judge the entertainment as we didn't go in search of it. The beach is one of Spain's better beaches, very clean and with plenty of beach bars, all of which have toilets. Plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas available at 4euros each. Be aware that when swimming the depth changes very quickly due to steep shelves close to the shoreline. For those who enjoy shopping the long pedestrianised walkways make for an interesting time.

Can't fault the resort it was kept clean and tidy.
Loved the trolley train that runs every twenty minutes to everwhere you need. The beach was spotless and the shopping good. The one thing I would like to see improved is the promenade having a paved finish instead of sandy, otherwise great. If you can brave the steps at the south of the beach the walks on the cliffs are stunning. We walked to the next resort and got the train back, highly reccommended.

The resort was lovely with lots of little streets to wonder around and a lovely church to visit. The beach was lovely and very hot, hotter that the roof sun terrace I think. From the beach there is a slight hill up to the hotels. If its flat that you want try malgrat. You can walk for miles along the front there

Resort of calella was great. loads of bars for young and old. plenty of places to eat lots of shopping on a huge high street. Train station nearby which was also cheap, only six euros return to barcelona. a road train which can be caught outside all the hotels which takes you to the market or any other place you would like to go for only 1.80 euros each return or 1.20 single if you fancy a walk. The beaches in calella as with all the costa brava are shingle so a bit rough on the feet but was very clean non the less. It was the second time we had visited calella and both times we thoroughly enjoyed it.
