The actual resort of santa susanna is really quite pretty and the beach is clean. The sand is quite course but i wouldnt call it a shingle beach. Shopping in the evenings at the lit up stalls was lovely

The beach is terrible, no sand just shingle.
And not safe for children,as there is a shear drop as you get in to the sea.

The resort we stayed in was very clean, but not much entertainment we went a ride into the mountains on the wally trolly which was very nice and the driver was very friendly and made us all laugh ,the view from the top is very nice and the houses in the mountains are gorgeous. the beach was nice but there was a big drop into the sea so it wasn't very good for the children.
we will go back to this resort again

Santa Susanna is a quiet resort and as such has no entertainment other than that provided in the various hotels but a 5 minute walk takes you to the night life in neighbouring Malgrat de Mar.
The area is always very clean and tidy except for a while after the Tuesday Market.
The beach is of gritty sand and always clean, but access can be a bit of a problem as the main railway line is situated between the beach and the promenade with a limited number of subways which can be prone to flooding.

I have to say that I did not really like the resort it caters more for senior citizen than families. Even my daughter commented on all the grannies around!. The sea is not suitable for young kids as it shelves quite sharply but it is wonderful to swim in for adults. Beach is not sand but small stones not very pleasent really. Excellent railway links. We went on a few trips one into Barcelona - take the tourist bus around - it's well worth it. Also went to Mairneland and Aqualand. I prefered Mairneland as I had young kids both under 6. We had an enjoyable holiday but I would not recomend this resort.

Resort was lovely, very clean and a pleasure to walk round at night listening to the entertainment from all the hotels.

All the stalls at night lit up, and pipe music playing, beach good, bit hard to walk on with it being shingle but you can always find a quiet spot. Lovely walk to Pineda de Mar, great location for the station hop on the train and in a few minutes you are at another resort yes I would go back to this resort again

Santa Susannah and Malgrat are pleasant Costa Brava resorts, somewhat cosy and lacking excesses of tack.

The only down side is the railway line which cuts the resort off from the beach. so you have to find crossing points to access it.

But the railway was built to cater for tourists as much as anything. To its credit it is a safe and quick way to travel to Lloret or Barcelona and far cheaper than paying the tour company to go on mass on a coach.

The resort was clean and had a freindly atmosphere. The area was quiet with mostly entertainment provided by hotels for the guests. Each night there are stalls which sell unique gifts and artists that offer drawings of yourself. On tuesdays the road in the resort is closed and a market visits. A 10-15 minute walk will take you to the neighbouring resort(Magret De Mar) here you will find it more lively and there are a large number of shops and pubs.

The beach is a relief from the hot days as it has a nice cool sea breeze. There a number of huts on the beach that charge double the price for drinks and food so it may be worth taking drinks etc with you. The cleaniness of the beach was not the best as there were a number of fag butts in the sand. I would not visit this resort again as it is not ideal for couples and more directed to the dutch/german. Most of the pubs were dutch.
