Really clean place I could live there quite happily very old with narrow streets etc and plenty of sea food restuarants. Cracking beach with fine shingle but watch out for the kids the sea shelves very quickly. We have been ther twice now and probally go again next year. If you want peace and quite and relaxation go to Tossa its spot on.

The old town of Tossa de Mar is excellent, lots of restaurants, bars and shops, lovely and spainish, lots of history, very pretty up at the castle.
The beach is very good if a little busy in July. The worst part is the other side of the dry river it has no real character.
Generally the whole area is clean and well kept,we would definately go back to Tossa it has a lovely atmosphere and just about everything we required from a holiday.

The resort is beautiful and clean the beach lovely but very hard on the feet more like gravel.
There is no touts or even anyone trying to get you into the restaurants, the castle and old part is a delight, we walked the maze of streets finding a new one nearly every night. There is'nt many English bars but if you have small kids Hollys has a PS2 and games etc (owner has a small child called Holly) also theres a quiz on a monday. For us it was Tipic bar run by an american called Roberto who is so laid back, he was visited by the police while we were there as he was flounting the noise laws and is expecting a 600 fine,(again) lots of nationalities call here and he knows them all. Dont go if your easily offended as he likes the ladies.
For meals we used panos bar decent meals for 3 of us with drinks about 17 euros you can go higher or lower. There is loads of excellent restaurants near the seafront but expect to pay a bit more.
Theres lots of shops with decent stuff in them. We went in the municipal museum didnt know what to expect and unless you like pretty bad paintings I recommend you dont go, mind you it was nice and cool.
Roads were narrow and busy but sometimes drivers stopped at the zebra crossings for you.... just sometimes mind.
We went on a glass bottom boat up the coast it was ok would have been better with a bit of commentary to tell us where we were.
All in all we loved it and would go back though our 17 year old wouldnt.

Clean, tidy, beach fine shingle and busy.
Most things more expensive towards the 'castle', good range of restaurants and smaller shops, overall great value.
For the most part people are helpful & friendly.
Would go back, kids really enjoyed it.

The resort was great it was nice and clean with plenty of bars to visit!! In all fairness though the beach was a bit of a let down with the sand not being sand just small pebbles, but overall not bad.

Tossa is a lovely resort but I would not recommend the beach as the sand is very gritty and uncomforable underfoot.
The town itself is full of bars and restaurants, with some really interseting ones around the castle.
Good mix of Spanish and other Europeans. This is definately a place for families as it is relatively quiet and civilised.

The resort was very clean and tidy no litter anywhere. Entertainemtn wise - ideal for the more mature adults (30+) who just like tore lax by the pool and enjoy a beer at a beach front cafe watching the world pass by. I would not visit the resort again with children but would do by myself as i felt completley safe walking into town on my own.
The beach was a compelte let doen. We only vstied the beach twice as it was impossible to walk on without diving type shoes as the grit (not sand) was very painful after about 10 minutes. the sea was lovely and clear but be warned that after about 2 metres out it drops to unknown depths so parents be warned.

Tossa de Mar is one of the nicest resorts I have visited for a long while. Beaches were lovely, bars and restaurants were friendly and food was exceptional in a lot of the places we tried. We were booked into Half Board, but once we tasted the food in one restaurant, we wanted to try the other.
A must visit is Bar Berlin. 3 courses for 8 euros and lovely food too... lovely people and lovely restaurant...
