Location
We found the hotel to be kept very clean, rooms were cleaned every day, staff were very friendly and polite.
The only problem we had was noises coming from the pipework in the rooms next to and above us.
Food was excellent.

The room was quite spacious and cleaned every day.
The hotel was at the top of "cardiac hill", but its not as bad as it sounds, if you do find it a struggle, there are plenty of bars to stop at and get your breath back. At the bottom of the hill you can find many bars and restaurants, if you cross over the road and go down the steps you end up on the promenade and the beach.
The hotel staff and the Thompson reps where very helpful and pleasant.
We didn't spend an evening in the hotel but there was always some entertainment on and they seemed to cater very well for the children. This would probably be an excellent choice for families.
There were many things happening through out the day for children of all ages.
The weather was also a plus, 30 degrees most days (not bad for October)!

Food wise we would say salad bar was ok the main course was a bit sloppy, we ate out most nights. The maids are great every where was spotless.
The location is on a steep hill cardiac hill but you soon get used to it!
The reps are great they have great manners and are very polite too. The kids club was great, Carl, Mandy, Camellia Nikita and Amy were fab.
Very friendly hotel good day and night entertainment for all ages. Would go back again on a self catering basis.
Try the Chinese in Bonanza Square.

The food was excellent and there was always a good choice, the children always ate well as there was always plenty of chips etc for them,it's no good if you're trying to diet as the breakfasts are good(plenty of bacon eggs and sausage),and the deserts are superb.
The location of the hotel is okay except for the dreaded cardiac hill as it is known,it's a short walk down the beach and various shops, pub and resteraunts.
The staff cannot be faulted and were always pleasent and helpful,
The entertainment seemed good although we spent a lot of time at the beach in the day and out and about at night.
This was our second visit to the bali in 2 years and won't be our last.

Bali studios were beautful and very spacious, great for families. The hotel was very nice also staff too(very friendly).
Plenty of entertainment for kids and adults.
Maids were in 3 times week which was good for self-catering. The hotel was at a good location with plenty of bars resturants and shops not to forget cardiac hill if you have kids make sure the daddies get them up on their shoulders as its a killer!.

The reception area has obviously been upgraded recently and is bright, airy and welcoming. The staff on the reception are very friendly and helpful. we were certainly glad of Sara McLean who was from Glasgow and spoke excellent Spanish. She was a godsend. There are two lounges off the main reception area with sofas and tables but little else. They seemed superfluous as they were rarely occupied.
Directions to your rooms were well marked. The main bar itself is big, with games machines for the kids although with the low ceiling and the 70's furnishings and decor it could do with a revamp. We found it quite smoky when busy and consequently did not spend much time there. The lifts in Bali 1 and 2 are quite small and prone to stopping every now and then. Not a great hardship for young couples but the older clients and us with pushchairs were sometimes quite frustrated.
The rooms were basic in our block, however there were clean towels and maid service daily and the bed linen was changed regularly. We had enough room for two singles, a smaller child's bed, a cot, and a fridge.
We started on the 1st floor of Bali 2 but moved after the 1st night due to excessive noise during the night.
A hint for those allocated Bali 2, try and get the rooms higher up as due to the construction of the hotel there are less rooms on the floors higher up. This cuts down the chances of being disturbed. We were on the 7th floor which had only 10 bedrooms and an amazing view. There is quite a strange loud noise from neighbours toilets flushing during the night but we kind of got used to that.
The childrens entertainment team work very hard for long hours to keep things going and we saw how many of the guests benefitted from that. There were sports, archery and shooting as well as pool games, skittles, darts etc. There were certificates handed out during the evenings entertainment. These reps were mainly Spanish or Dutch and were friendly and enthusiastic.
The Water Polo for adults in the afternoons was not for the faint hearted but whilst being competitive was not dangerous in any way. A great way to build an appetite for dinner.
Speaking of which the food at the hotel was good and there was plenty of it, The only slight problem was choice for the kids however we managed to find something for all of us. Lots of fish dishes as well as more familiar fair well cooked. I heard nobody complaining and we never had tummy problems.
Our daughter ,6 was in the kids club between 1330 & 1530 most days. The room was air-conditioned and the girls who took it were really pleasant. There was also an evening session which ran most days and was prebookable at the Thomsons desk in the mornings.
The evening's entertainment was varied and a bit have-a-go by the reps. They made a decent fist of miming to popular musicals and whatnot. The mini disco kept the children going for 40 minutes and although it was the same songs in the same order every night the kids loved the routine and predictability.
We had a great holiday at the Bali and would definitely go back.

Food was great (over half a stone weight gain in two weeks is very bad!!). Choice of soups, gorgeous salad bar, about 7 choices of main course and a dessert bar to die for! Not a lot of choice for picky kids! The reps said noone else had complained, but everyone we spoke to agreed with us. Would be much better with a kiddie menu each night. Breakfast good too and would fill us up way by lunchtime. Coming from selfcatering world, thought eating in every night would drive us crazy but it didnt.
Found bar staff unfriendly and impolite. They expected to be tipped every time (even when the kids went to get an icecream) and felt you were an inconvenience to them. Great location, very british, family hotel and would def. go back.
