The hotel complex is faced by the sea to the East south East, with the sun rising to your left and bathing the huge expanse of demerera sugar beach, until sunset on your right.
As with much of this part of the world, their is a large litter problem around the nearby local township, but the comoplex is kept immaculate, with the beaches raked daily. In high season their is an out door theatre, and the entertainment team do a pretty good job of encourageing many physical, albeit very noisy pursuits, like pool aerobics, volleyball, table tennis etc. In the evenings, the inevitable Bingo is combined with 'Mr Universe'type frolics, which somewhat dissapointingly from my perspective, makes the guests the entertainment, and seems the norm in most family hotels in the country. The music is very modern, very loud and very repetative. Despite a wide spectrum of age groups, the young animation teams evidently cater for the less discerning client.

The resort of Hammammet was beautiful! Considering Tunisia is classed as a 'third world country' you would never know! It is spotless! I can't really comment about the entertainment as my family and I tended to stay at the hotel in the evenings unless we had any trips booked. The beach was the most beautiful and the cleanest I had ever seen. There were plenty of sun loungers for all! Well worth a visit.

Hammamet itself was pretty clean, certainly tidier than any large English city. Lots of shops selling souveniers, but it was pretty much the same in all of them, so my advice would be haggle, haggle, haggle, as you can just move on to the next shop if you dont get the price you want. It can be over powering as the Tunisians will try ANYTHING to get cash out of you with the exception of stealing it. They may try and trick you, be pushy, play on your conscience (you are probably much richer than them) and so on. There were plenty of restraunts we would love to have tried, but we made the mistake of booking half board. The beach was AMAZING. Scrupulously clean, well maintained, good entertainment and safe calm waters. Be warned though, THERE ARE NO DOLPHINS!!!! Dont be taken in by people pushing you to go on boat trips offering a swim with the dolphins. We never even saw a fish! There are a lot of discos here,as the tunisian teenagers like to think they are "westernised". They are a lovely crowd, and have their own brand of dancing, somewhwere between traditional tunisian and eminem hand waving/crotch grabbing! Very amusing. We had a lot of fun in Hammamet, and will definitely go there again one day.

Hammamet is a beautiful resort which really made us feel welcome. We met many local people and were overwhelmed by their gemerosity and friendliness. They love children and always made a fuss of them wherever we went. We stayed in North Hammamet and although the beaches throughout the resort are clean and well managed, we prefered the beaches in the North as they seemed to have less seaweed and stones and have a generally cleaner feel to them, they were also less populated. The town is fascinating particularly in the evening sitting and watching local life in all it's richness!

Tunisia was a poor country but tourism has transformed it and all the touristy things are neat and tidy; there is some poverty but there's not all that much habitation so it can't get too bad. Hammamet is pretty ordinary but it's just that, ordinary.
The Tunisian trips take you thru ordinary, rather parched countryside--I think all that sand is called The Sahara Something, but the places that the trips take you to are of serious interest to serious people : the trip into the Sahara is a bit tough but loved by everyone. Evening entertainment is limited. This is a beach holiday destination with a bit of Carthage thrown in.
The northern Hammamet beaches are excellent : the new, south 'Jasmine' side is man-made and a bit duller.

The hotel complex itself was very impresive, the food was wonderful, the pool area was very nice. Most of the hotel staff were helpful and professional.
It was impossible to go to the beach or walk into town without being hassled regularly by people trying to sell you things or get money from you.

North Hammamet beach was lovely and well kept. Plenty of beach activities for those wanting them, although not a lot to do in hammamet area itself. Incredibly cheap to eat out - £10 for 3 good pizzas, drinks and Ice Creams. If going on excursions from hammamet, the Pirate Ships from yasmine hammamet are a great day out for £15, with barbecue, soft drinks, entertainment and swimming from the boat all laid on. The worst excursion is the waterpark at Port El Kantouia, which is small, too crowded and has all the big rides for over 12s only.
Although the hotel was not in the centre of Hammamet it gave us the opportunity to see some of the areas we probably would not have seen otherwise. The whole resort was clean and tidy and was bustling during an evening. Well worth a visit
