Beaches

Resort was fine. Plenty on the beach lots of small shops though the owners are overpowering at times in their efforts to get you to buy.
It is very new well laid out and there is plenty to do especially if you are prepared to travel a bit. Roman ruins at Dougga are especially good but the journey there is a bit tedious.
Monastir airport is a bit hard work. Wouldn't recommend Hammenmet town. Stick to the new Medina. Plenty of water based activities/ look out for the pirate ships that go out from the new marina.

hammamet reminds me of the song hotel california by the eagles, 'you can check out anytime you like but you can never leave'!.
The resort itself is quite nice, but the beach access near where we stayed was at the end of a dirt track, where you had to pass 4 or 5 ripped open binliners of rotting food. Not the most pleasant sight or smell to welcome you especially on a hot day!!. The beach itself was quite clean, dominated by beach bars owned and run by the local hotels playing disco music, we decided to check out the beaches in hammamet town and yasmine hammamet instead.
In hammamet town, the beach is beautifully clean, the bars, cafes and town centre are only a short stroll from the beach. perfect for an afternoon sunbathing.
Yasmine hammamet was a different thing altogether. Dominated by huge hotels, the sea front is beautifully clean and tidy, as is the beach. Yes, there are a few bars on the beach but without the loud music.
Heres where the eagles analogy comes in. Getting out of hammamet is quite an effort. If you want to travel anywhere the only way is to travel by either bus louage or taxi.
For example, we wanted to visit sousse. We took a taxi to bir bouregba station [5 dinar = £2.00. cheap]to catch a train. No trains, told to go and wait for a bus to sousse. Waited for 3/4 of an hour, No busses go there. Took taxi to hammamet louage station [2 dinars] after 30mins wait managed to get a louage for 4.90 dinars each.
in conclusion if you want a beach holiday, hammamet is the place to go, but, if you like to travel around, its an effort

The resort was really good there was a big pool just outside that you could go in when ever you wanted.
Also a snack bar so if you got hungry in between meals you could just go up and get what you want when you want and there was a drink bar.
The beach was only a short walk away from the hotel.
The entertainment in the evening was brill and funny at sumtimes. the animation team were really friendly -Gaston,Kelly,Midui,didi,deborah.
WE CANT WAIT TO GO BACK NEXT YEAR!

The resort is kept reasonably clean just watch out for the uneven paths.
The resort entertainment I dont know much about as we never really felt the need to go out of the hotel at night as the hotel we stayed at put its own entertainment on.
The beach is lovely, the touts that are selling things do not approach you when you are lying on the sun lounger unless you want them too my advise is if you hear them shouting what they are selling dont look up.
We would definitely go back to this resort again

Resort is good. Came here 8 years ago, and then 20 years ago. Things have changed, there is much less to do and see there now as the new 'Yasmine Hammamet' was born 7 years ago so everything have moved to there.
The Excursions (few), Taxi (hair raising) and louge is the only way to get out to see things outside of Hammamet.

Hammamet is quite rundown, everything has moved to new development of Yasmine Hammamet. Old medina has a few shops all selling same things. Bartering is expected.
Lots of trips to do in daytime. Advise do them independently either with a local taxi (cheap) or via hotel. Tour reps trips are double the price.
Cant say much about evening entertainment as we did not go out of hotel at night.
Beach was fine, although spoiled by millions of cigarette ends. Usual watersports, parasailing etc.
I would visit Tunisia again but not this resort.

The resort of Hammamet has a wonderful beach and a beautiful Medina however you cannot shop here without being harrassed and conned beyond belief. I have never encountered such continual pressure to look and buy - it was overwhelming. Watch out for conmen who pretend they are from your hotel then take you to a carpet shop pretending they are taking you to a festival. As soon as you are in the shop you are highly pressured into buying. They grab you to drag you into shops too! We ended up leaving after visiting only 3 or 4 shops - nightmare!!!
