We had been 'warned' that Yasmine Hammamet is a purpose built tourist resort and this is absolutely true. It is clean, with a lovely beach and numerous restaurants. This is good. However, the one and only thing we did not enjoy about our holiday was the constant hassle and pressure to buy goods from street sellers. We quickly learned to deal with this, but it was a bit waring. Whilst I understand the arguments of those who say they have to earn a living and you have got to expect this if you go to a tourist resort, it was still more intense than I expected. Also be prepared for children from the age of three upwards, trying to sell you flowers, on the street and in restaurants. Very sad indeed. The marina area is nice but all of the restaurants are crammed together so when you try to walk along and have a look, you are constantly pestered to go inside. We found one or two nice restaurants by walking in the opposite direction to the marina and our favourite restaurant was the Viking, just outside both our hotel and the medina. It is also not easy to find places to have a casual drink - we tried going in a few 'bars' only to discover they did not serve alcohol. This can be a bit awkward as you are unsure whether to stay and have a soft drink or simply to leave. The Noddy train is a fun and cheap way to visit different places. We found little resort entertainment but then, we usually prefer dinner and a few drinks. The medina seemed lively at night but being pestered is not our scene so we gave it a miss. You are aware that you are not in the 'real' Tunisia - it is a bit like Disney World in a sense - but we had a great holiday. If you fancy a relaxing beach holiday at a lovely hotel with fairly low key evenings, I would recommend giving Tunisia a go - it does have a different feel to other places, even in Yasmine Hammamet. We enjoyed it, but we probably will not return.

Hammamet is beautiful - the medina is full of narrow lanes surrounded by white-washed buildings. The market here is far better value and more peaceful than the weekly souk market at Nebhula.
The beach is a, long, curving bay, with Les Orangers' beach well maintained. A beach restaurant and ice cream hut mean you want for nothing all day. Make sure you try the paragliding - awsome!

I didn't know much about Tunisia before we went and was surprised to find it much less of a culture shock than I had anticipated. We did a few of the trips and they were pretty enjoyable - try Sebastian's Villa - which is just round the corner from Les Citronniers and a little oasis of calm in the midst of the town. Mint tea served beside the pool traditional style. Lovely.
Didn't really sample the "entertainment" as such so can't really comment. The resort seems as clean as you'd expect, the beach was beautiful and waters clear. We did visit a few cafes in town. Of the 3 times we visited Siddis (outside the medina walls) we were ripped off twice, but still small price to pay for enjoying this famous cafe. Try insisting on sitting inside of an evening, to watch the locals come out to play smoking their hubble bubble pipes in the setting sun.
Our buggest problem over all was the hassle. They really are unmerciless in the medina and we got constant attention whilst out and about. I'm not sure what that's down to. I'm no spring chicken, neither of us are stnning and we were considerably more covered up than lots of the Europeans around the resort. Maybe it's the single woman alone with her daughter. But it was just constant. Calling out to us, staring and shouting, bawling out of cars as we walked along the road. My daughter got really tired of the whole thing and it was wearing thin for me too. I think you really need to hang on to your sense of humour and remind yourself its a different culture.
Overall, we had a good holiday but am not too sure we'd go back again. Mainly because the attention and the pushy sales technique just get tiring. Though the wee flower sellers are just gorgeous. And what's a dinar for goodness sake (less than 50p!) to watch their wee faces light up with smiles.

I think it was pretty clean as there were always waiters and cleaners cleaning up all the time.
the entertainment was good but the best at night time!
i went to the beach only a cuple of times but i liked it most in the afternoon as the sand was nice and comfy to walk on and it wasnt too hot. they did do lots of things there like banana boats and parachuting but i never went on them but the rest of my family did and they enjoyed it.
And yes ofcourse i'd like to visit it again. it was defo my best holiday!!

This is our second visit to Hammamet, the beach it like paradise, beware of the jellyfish, if you are unlucky enough to get stung put wet sand on the area, it cools it down immediatly. Police patrol beach regularly, don't let the salesman on the beach pressure you into buying something, you have the upper hand as it's illegal for them to sell on the beach, watch them run when they see the police. See is fantastic for swimming in kids are quite safe.

We only ventured out of the hotel complex a couple of times in the evening to visit Yasmin Hammamet. Taxis are always parked at the entrance to the hotel and the drivers were friendly. When walking about the resort we attracted a lot of attention especially as we were a party of women. The Tunisian shopkeepers like to talk and indulge in banter, they do not mean any harm but if too persistant a "no thanks" is all that is needed.

please think 2 you have worked hard for your holiday like us
water parks are ok but not worth your time going 1 hour on bus for 3 hours there , they are small and not save , even though they say the are , they get more free things for you to go your money they want , and even more in english money

I love Hammamet! Luckily I remembered my way around from when I went a few years back and that helped. The locals are all very friendly, if you think they are too pushy just give them a firm 'no' and they will take the hint. I'd definately recommend this resort to anybody.
