The Resort of Port El Kantiou is a must for familles with children having a pleasure beach in the main sqaure the portis beautfil and there are quite a few fixed price shops where you do not get hassled although there are odd ones which do try to entice you in.
Before I arrived I thought that the prices of food & drinks etc would be quite cheap with the countries currency being closed but in acual act the prices where neraly the same as england, leather and pots however are quite resoanble but if you can stand bartering dirt cheap

The resort is OK with a lot of activities, e.g. parascending, quad biking, jet skiing, scuba diving, excursions, but these can add quite a bit of expense for a family.

Resort was ok, not alot to do. But it is near all other resorts and only a 5 minute taxi ride away from the marina. Taxi's very cheap! To make sure you get the best deals when shopping make sure you haggle and look around as you may find it cheaper somewhere esle. Marina is an excellent place for shopping, lovely jewelry, go in the evening it is very lively and beautiful!! A few shops opposite the hotel to buy some essentials e.g. water, toiletries and gifts too!!

The hotel we stayed in was a taxi ride away from the marina, only 3 diner. Going from the hotel to the marina the streets weren't so clean, but once in the marina, it was a differnet place. During the day, you could go on boat trips from the marina or visit the zoo. Other than that there was the bowling and that was about it. It is really a hotel based holiday.

At night time the marina was just full of people just going nowhere. The locals sat around chatting and drinking coffee, and the tourist were just every where walking around. We struggled to find seats at the few bars there were at the marina.

Also eating out, you will fing the restuarants cater mainly for the Germans or Italians. A few places we went to didn't even have an English menu!

ONce you get used to being pestered by shop keepers and learn to say no, its not so bad. But doesn't make for a relaxing wander round the shops! What was on sale seemed good, but if you smoke hand rolled tobacco take your own because you cannot buy it there. Felt safe but if you are female and on your own beware... better to stay as a couple.

the resort was really clean, up to my standards. the beach was great for sun bathing, couldn't really walk about with no shoes, because the sand was roasting hot!

Port El Kantoui is a must if you visit Tunisia. The pretty port area is lovely during the day, just sit and enjoy the world going by - perfect for people watching!! Loads of boat trips on offer. In the evening the Port comes to life and you just have to stroll around and join in. The dancing fountains in the square are also a nice place to enjoy a wander. All the shops expect you to haggle for every item you buy and although this is good fun it can become tedious when you just want to buy a postcard!!!!! We are returning to the resort in the next few weeks so that just about tells you how much we enjoyed our stay - cant wait for the next trip!

The Marina itself was ok - but once you had been round it that was it for 2 weeks. The shops are full of knock offs yet they try to persuade you that all their stuff is genuine!!!

A decent drink was extremly difficult to come by only one shop in the entire resort sells alcohol and its only local produce and not worth the money.

One of the small stalls sells amazing fresh fruit drinks - out of this worlds - really big and refreshing and only about £1.

The smell of hot nuts was everywhere - at times too sweet though.

We met a lovely lady called Lilia. Who worked in Port el Kantoui.

The beaches were beautiful and well kept. One thing though, please don't walk out of the hotel in nothing but a bikini! The men are modest compared to in other resorts, but you're just asking for unwanted attention.

The poor women sit in the sea with their children in full dress. And don't even take anything off to dry in public. I brought a thin pair of trousers from a jogging suit and put them on whenever I went out. It stops unwanted male attention.

We have our traditions, and I wear what I like in Cuba and Spain, but please let's not insult the residents to such an extent.

The hotel was very clean. The only thing was the pool was pretty jam packed nut if you didnt get a space at the pool you would definetly get a sunbed at the beach, which is about 50m away from the hotel

Excellent resort and would defintely recommend it !!!
