We have just returned from the Sahara beach hotel,

Ok , we arrived at the hotel on the 20th Sept really looking forward to our long awaited holiday. As soon as we arrived at the hotel we were ushered into a large hot room after having our suitcases took from us and left outside the main entrance, we were given a warm drink of cheap lemon squash and given forms to fill in for our all inclusive cards. Had our photos took and given our room numbers, our bags were then took to our rooms whether you wanted it or not, to be left by a man shaking his pocket and holding out his hand, at this point I had just arrived and no change, he walked off muttering. We then went down to dinner, walking through what I can only describe as an ashtray , the whole place stunk of cigarettes and really no pleasant for anyone who doesn

Just got back from 7 nights at the Sahara Beach, like most of the reviews of this hotel, you get what you get for a 3 star rating, The hotel was very very busy, so busy you could,nt get a sun lounger after 9am. this is a very big complex with ample loungers but if you want a good spot round one of the 3 lovery pools , you honestly had too be down there with your towels before 7am, a lot of people were down well before that but please take note, if you left your towels on the beds and went for breaky before 7am, sercurity would take your towels to lost property and you,ll have got up for nothing !
The hotel was very clean and tidy, the grounds and pools were immaculte, the beach was loverly and there was always sercurity on the beach and around the pools 24 hrs a day.
The staff were all very freindly and efficiant but they expected a tip all the time espeacially the guys who give out the sun beds, but tip the guys at the bars and they would look after you.
the food was ok, always something for everyone apart from the bacon at breaky ( Heart attack materiel ) fat and salty ! bit manic at times as its a huge resturant.
The entertainment is more for the kids ,but dont let
that put you off, The drinks are not bad, the lager is not bad and im a premium lager drinker.
The beach bar ,you get a better solection of food at lunch time.
Like i and other people have said, its a 3 star but dont let that put you off.
One more last thing, dont get a transfer from the airport, its much cheaper to get a taxi only 10 Dinar (

Hotel is as previously described by others. There is nothing wrong with it, but it is nothing outstanding either. If you want to, you will enjoy this holiday. The staff will be OK as long as you have your hand in your pocket. The hotel shops are about twice the price of shops in Monistir, but Monistir is not for the feint hearted.
Quad bikes, organised by the hotel reception staff is great value for money, and gets you out for a couple of hours.

Big problem with this destination is the airport. We would actually return to this hotel, but will never visit Tunisia again due to the airport. It is far too small for the area it covers and the staff is both incompetent and ignorant.

Thomas cook were especially disappointing, leaving us lay on the floor in the departure lounge for 23 hours on the return journey. If you must go, try to arrive and leave around lunch time when the airport is quieter, and avoid Thomas Cook altogether.

The reviews of this hotel are mixed and I would describe it as a Marmite Hotel.
Some people will love it others won't like it at all.
Built in 1975 it is beginning to show it's age and rumours persist that it is to undergo total refurbishment soon.
We also visited during Ramadan and this no doubt had some effect on the staff during the day, but on the whole they were pleasant enough.
The hotel is definitely of a three star standard. Our rooms was basic and a bit small but you do get a balcony and usually a sea view. It was kept very clean as was the rest of the hotel.
The beach and the pools are all very good and well served by the staff. We had no problem getting a sun bed after breakfast.
The food was plentiful and varied, but a bit repeative. Having said that if I went to my favourite restaurant in England for three meals a day 14 days in a row I would soon get bored with it.
But while we were there everybody we spoke to had had some form of stomach upset lasting from the odd day to a whole week. Some people had to cancel their planned and paid for excursions due to this.
There was also a bit, no lots, of non interest in this being reported or coliated so it was just dismissed as "too much sun" when there was clearly a problem.
The entertainment was not our cup of tea and we did not attend very much and the location of this hotel was the thing we had the largest issue with.
It is a bit isolated and getting about usually involved a taxi and a haggle over the price. There are buses but they stop running abot 8.00pm and there is no where to really walk to outside the hotel of an evening.
All in all though we had a nice holiday. We would not
go to this hotel again, but then we have never been back to the same one. We wouldn't recommend this hotel but nor would we deter anyone from going.
It's your money and your choice.

Just returned from 1 week A.I. at the Sahara Beach. Quick and efficient check in to get my photo ID card. Room tiny but adequate with a nice view of the pool and sea from the balcony.

Cleaners very busy the whole time, making the best out of a rather dated and massive hotel. Clean sheets and towels most days. I was not disturbed by the room maid at all, and slept in till midday on a few occasions.

Having read some of the reviews about the food, I was surprised to find a well stocked, good selection of hot and cold buffet food - no flies and no tummy upset! Also freshly cooked pizzas and omelettes and the occasional special night with a huge paella on the go. Pudding pretty much the same most meals - Strawberries, Dates and other fruit, Ice cream and cakes / fruit flans. Nothing particularly special, but well cooked and presented for a three star hotel.

The hotel is very near the airport, but I was hardly disturbed by the noise of take-offs and landings, and found this preferable to a slog of a long transfer time. The grounds and pools were immaculate.

The beer and cold juices were OK by British standards - you could do worse (and I have!).

The staff were almost exclusively male with varying levels of friendliness and attention, depending on whether you tipped or not - of course.
Reception staff were very helpful and efficient.

As for the entertainment, they seemed to work very hard at a butlins style programme. Great if you like that sort of thing, but not really my cup of tea.

There are several bars both inside and outside the hotel, most of which are smoking - a bit of a novelty after the ban in the UK if you are a smoker, a bit of a pain if you are not.

Overall a nice place for young families if you like the hustle and bustle of a very large hotel - not really for the lone traveller looking for a relaxing break though.

Ignore any bad reports on this hotel. It is a little dated but is being refurbished shortly, however the rooms are kept spotlessly clean and any problems are sorted out immediately. You are given a lovely drink of lemonade on arrival and the photos for the inclusive cards is done really quickly. Most rooms also have an excellent view of the pools and sea. The food is amazing, so much choice, some things are repeated each day but there is always something different to choose from. Omlettes, pizzas and pancakes cooked in front of you to order and are delicious. Have tried to cook the omlettes myself for my daughter when we got home as she loved them but she says they are not as good. You are allocated a table on arrival and the waiters give excellent service, bringing drinks when needed. There is not alot to do in the resort itself but the hotel has so much to offer there is no need to leave the complex. My children (and husband) loved the horse riding, jet skiing (small extra charge) as well as the other activities in the hotel that are free. We went to Monastir on the noddy train one day (this gave us a laugh as it pulled onto the dual carriageway to Monastir when leaving the hotel). You have a couple of hours which is enough time to visit the Ribat, Mourseleum and markets, but beware of street sellers and people in the shops - if you say you will leave if they don't stop hassling you, they let you look at your leisure. The shops in the hotel are in a long corridor down to the restaurant but they do not tend to bother you too much. The hotel staff cannot do enough for you and the animation team do try and get holidaymakers involved in activities, they also do the nightly shows which are amateurish but funny. There is always an abundance of sunbeds around the pool and the beach and staff will bring mattresses to you for a small tip (1 dinar which is about 40p). There are plenty of bars to choose from - my husband made very good friends with the caravelle bar staff in the pool areas and one waiter even came to see him when we left.
The all inclusive drinks are not second class and is well worth the extra cost. We met a family that had gone half board and had spent an absolute fortune on drinks during the week. Make sure you tip (1 dinar at a time usually and you will get an extra special service. My youngest daughter went to the kids club a few times and made some really good friends, as well as keeping the children amused it gives the adults chance to chill a bit.
My eldest daughter did the sahara explorer trip (over 2 days and 1200km round trip), which she really enjoyed but said it was very tiring - better to do if you are there for 2 weeks. We also went on the camel caravan trip with Ali Baba (selling in corridor on way to restaurant), beware because the camels do not sit for you - the men literally throw you on an upright camel but do not tell you this when you book. Apart from that it is a really good afternoons entertainment.
Overall you cannot go wrong with this hotel and you will have a really good holiday

Four days back from Tunisia and missing it already, myself and wife booked on the spur of the moment but knowing Tunisia as we do couldn't be more surprised as we actually thoroughly enjoyed it.

There are some bad comments which if put under a microscope will bear fruit however a lot of whats been said to me is nit picking and also you should be aware that you are not visiting England but a Muslim country which is proud of its history.

The hotel was great everyone was polite and helpful some more than others granted but even we don't like everyone.

The food well what can I say, I have a sensitive stomach and I ate everything no problems at all no runs no aching just good wholesome food.

Sorry but despite the entertainment team doing their best it wasn't good enough for me and definitely was aimed at the children but I had the bar and was happy with it I was there to relax and that's just what I did, got a lovely tan too.

The cleaners bless em were on the go constantly and I couldnt fault them at all not just the rooms but all over the hotel. Another thing which stood out is they restrict smokers to certain bars so I could avoid the coffin dodgers and their fags(stink)this was appreciated greatly.

Finally go with open eyes and enjoy we did. Met some lovely people there too.

We have just had a lovely holiday in this hotel, we found the food was good with plenty of choice.

The rooms were spotless although the hotel is ready for a refurbishment, which I believe will be done early next year.

The grounds, pools and the beach are all great, lots of greenery with hedges and palm trees, birds singing, lovely white sand on the beach and a very good beach bar serving snacks in the afternoon, which we really enjoyed.

The majority of the hotel staff were extremely helpful & pleasant.

We found it fantastic value for money and would certainly go again.

It's an ideal location to just chill out and enjoy the sunshine!

We stayed in the Sahara beach for 1 week , the 3rd to the 10th of October. Before going i was also a little concerned after reading some of the reports, but i needn't have worried.
We got a taxi from the airport which took 10 minutes and cost 10 dinars ( about
