The first good thing to say is that our waiter Jimi was fantastic, always had our drinks ready for us when we arrived for our evening meal, always made us feel welcome and nothing was ever too much trouble for him, he always brought my husband 2 beers instead of one too which made him happy lol. He was a lovely man and definitely the nicest person we met whilst there. He told us about his family etc, and we always gave him a tip after dinner, about 2 dinar which to us is nothing but to him prob meant a great deal.
On his day off we gave him 10 dinar to treat his kids. He was so appreciative, bless him and could'nt thank us enough.
The food however was terrible. There was nothing for our 3 yr old son, no childrens buffet as advertised. He pretty much lived on chips and eggs all week, not really what I'd want him to eat. For my self and my husband there did seem to be OK but then it was repeated nearly every night and I being pregnant would have preferred to have had healthier options.
The hotel was very clean and the cleaners are cleaning what seems like 24 hours a day although sometimes I did feel they would loiter round the toilets waiting for tips.
The staff were great, very friendly and always smiling. We only had a problem with one man who worked in the Skanes bar, we were watching the football one night and he just came over and moved our table and started re arranging the whole room ,which we thought was really really rude.
Reception staff were great too.
The hotels location is not so great, it is near the airport and is great for a short transfer as its a 5 minute drive, but then the downside is all the aircraft noise.
We were told there was no aircraft noise but to say that is daft, we could hear the constant whirring and buzzing of planes and then the extremely loud rumbles of take offs and landings really clearly and to tell you the truth it did my head right in.
The entertainment was non existent if you are English. There was no childrens club for our son to join in with (there was a hotel run one but he wasn't old enough). We went out one night to the outdoor stage to watch a show only to find that when it finally started at almost 10 in the evening that we couldnt even understand it, it was in French and German.
We were not impressed by this and us amongst many other English people got up and left.
if you do get the chance though go on the excurcions with the reps. we went on a pirates and gladiators trip to el Jem and then on a 2 hour cruise on a pirate ship round the coast with a BBQ and we really enjoyed that. we also went on a camel caravan which was great. i went on a horse and cart and my husband and son went on a camel and we loved every minute of it. all in all for both trips i think it only cost us about

We went on an all inclusive deal and honestly could not find any fault. The food was fantastic and both me and my hubbi being very fussy eaters left every night having over ate!!! Each night trying something different and never finding anything bad. Or waiter was called Jimmi and was very very good leaving us two drinks each and had them waiting on us. Oh and we both drink Bacardi and have to say there white rum was spot on and we enjoyed several every night!!! Hubbi said beer was very like Tennants.
The hotel cleaning staff do seem to work long hours and do an excellent job keeping everything spotless.
The hotel location really doesnt matter as you really have no need to leave the large complex as everything you want or could every need is right there. You can buy all leather goods, trainers (very cheap) and all other souvenirs in hotel though went into Monistair to the shops but if I get the opportunity to return would not bother. As you are situated five minutes from the airport you very obviously will hear aircraft noise but have to say you know this before you book and is nothing to complain about.
As for entertainment we made own having a laugh with other holiday makers.
Have to tell you the beach is brilliant and the men selling on it or actually very nice people and worth getting to know. Weather was fantastic around 35.
Overall would have to say this was the best holiday we have ever been on and would love to good back with our kids but having trouble finding a tour operator as Panorama are no longer doing this hotel.

We stayed all inclusive and being a Coeliac, hotel food is usually a bit of a trial for me (salads only), but this year I had a huge choice of good to suit me, the omelettes were fantastic made to order.
The hotel was very clean and our room was spotless and towels and bedding changed every day by chamber men (not women).
The location is only 5 minutes from the airport but you never notice the aircraft noise.
The entertainment was very good if you wanted it but you could easily avoid it if you did not want to participate.
I unfortunately had an accident an fell over breaking my ankle half way through my stay in the hotel and my estimation of the reception staff went down a bit as they did not want to get involved and help me - although they did call a Doctor eventually.
Our First Choice Reps, Sarah and especially James, were fantastic and we cannot thank them enough for all their help about getting me to a hospital by taxi (the hospital was a bit dated but very efficient)and please note although we had insurance, we had to pay for everything straight away and it had to be cash (no credit cards accepted)so be aware.
I was put into plaster and it was a bit scary as to whether I was going to be allowed to fly home but we managed eventually with our wonderful reps help.
We will definitely be going back next year because putting the accident aside, we still managed to have a lovely holiday.

This was our third time at this hotel and can find very little to fault. Yes the hotel is dated and could do with being modernized, but has loads of character and charm.
The food was excellent and plenty to choose from. We decided to tip our waiter each day (2 dinar)which did ensure a very attentive service and drinks waiting for us when we arrived at the restaurant.
The animation team were fantastic, best yet, and produced some fantastic shows.
All in all a fantastic hotel in an ideal location, with only a 15 minute transfer from the airport.

Back to hotel we have enjoyed every moment of our time spent at this hotel if you want to find fault it is easy there are plenty of them but if you want to have a fun relaxing holiday than there is no better place. To those who moan about this hotel -- upgrade try the 4 or 5 star hotels in Hammamet they are real palaces and quiet but then your problem will be your kids will be bored.
The animation team at the Sahara are a dream and second to none and most kids only want to eat chips when they are away from England plenty of them on offer, all my experience of holidays say if the kids are happy you will be.
Finally those who are going this year don't let bad comments worry you there is no pleasing everyone go with the intention of having a good time join in and you will. Also try having a cold beer /drink at Bar 69 (boat thing on beach)at 4 in the afternoon relax watch the world go by it is shear bliss although some people would moan about that not being part of the all inclusive lol couple of quid will make all the difference to a holiday

The hotel food was good but the choices never changed and the food hygiene in the restaurant left a lot to be desired. The hotel location was what we expected as the brochure did say it was a beach resort but it was very pleasant walking along the beach area and you could go into other hotels as you passed them which was quite good.
The hotel staff were very rude and only wanted to be tipped all the time we did this for every service we received and on our last day true colours were revealed as we were totally blanked as new guests were arriving and they had had their money worth out of us.
The entertainment was terrible we took my grandaughter to the kids entertainment but she was totally ignored by the staff who were too busy showing of their dance routines to the public and not paying attention to the the children. I complained to both our hotel rep and the entertainment team but got no satisfaction whatsover.
I have been to Tunisia on numerous holidays and stayed in other hotel but have never been treated by such rude ill manner people before I would never be returning to this hotel.
I just wish that before I had gone I had taken the advice of other reviews and not gone here.

As for the pools they were really well kept with plenty of beds around them. You do have to be down early to reserve a bed, but it is quite fun meeting the same people each more for an early morning chat.
The bars for the drinks near the pool had staff that could be a bit happier to serve. They did seem to be a bit rude at times but you can get by without them.
The entertainment round the pool during the day is good with aerobics and games etc. there is also belly dancing, darts and table tennis going on too.
The restaurant I found to be really clean and reading some of the reviews I don

To up grade you must send emails to the hotel email address can be fonnd on www.iberstarhotels.com do this sevearl times and one the day before you go.
Pools were great sunbed race starts around 6.30am. a good tip is to pay the pool attendants to reserve the sum beds that you want we paid 3td a day well worth it so you dont have to get up early.
Food was ok allways something to eat.
Camel trip organised by a local firm inside the hotel was well worth ot we went twice cost around 50td for the 3 of us.
The evening entertain was poor a part from Michael Jackson and the Lion King
Travel operator: Firstchoice
There was always something to do - camel trip and horse riding were particular highlights.
There are three outside pools and the hotel is right on the beach. Although at full occupancy we always found a sunbed, table at the bar etc.
We also took the Noddy train into Monastir which was interesting.
Te hotel is always being cleaned and we found a good variety of food (pizzas made to order went down very well with the kids)
The staff were all friendly and the waiters were very entertaining.
We did not find the shows much to our taste but the Michael Jackson was very good.
For a cheap all inclusive family holiday with excellent weather you can't go far wrong.
