We stayed at the Sahara Beach Hotel, location great for the beach but a bit to far away for shopping, although there are a few stalls and shops on site.Cleanliness at the hotel was very good rooms cleaned daily with fresh towels,Dining room clean, but we did find the food rather reoetative with little sign of vegetables, although generally well cooked, pizza and crepes were great with various topping and cooked while you wait, only a couple of minutes. You get the same waiter and chaimberman throughout your visit, they are lovely men,we gave them about 2 dinar a day tips and on leaving gave them 10 dinar each for such good service, they earn very little for such long hours.Entertainment was alright but not the best we have had by a long way fine if you have young children, always something for them.

my husband and I, three year old son went here for two weeks on our honeymoon. it is the largest hotel in tunisia with three very good pools. we travelled in september so had no problems with getting a sun bed round the pool each day as some people have said.
rooms were just the right size and kept very clean, we tipped the maid and she would leave a rose on our bed every day after that.
right on the beach which is great but we did not swim in the sea to much as there were to many jelly fish in the water, we were told that in september the numbers are higher than the rest of the year so swam in one of the pools.
the kids club was great and our son loved it, run by english staff who were very good at there jobs. we felt our son was very save there plus he was having fun.
the food was good lots to choose from and you had the same table each night while you stayed there so always had the same waiter which was nice, after two weeks the food did get to be a bit samesame.
entertainment was very good and ran on a weekly basis so if you were there for two weeks had the same entertainment twice on your stay, but we went each night and enjoyed what they laid on.
one thing I would say for us once you got out of the hotel there was nothing really to do or you had a long walk to get anywhere. so we went on tours with the hotel to see out and about.
they had a mini zoo on site which our son loved to visit and there were play parks in it also, makes a change from the beach!!
all in all we spent most of our time in the hotel for the two weeks but did enjoy our stay here and would go back again.

had a great holiday excellent for familys. went all in and could not fault it, at the end of the day its a 3 star hotel and thats what it is, but that doesnt mean its bad its for from it.
there was plenty of choice at meals i tried almost everything and most of it was fine couldnt fault it. the 2 younger ones 8 and 12 didnt starve and they can be fusy the young adults 18 and 21 ate fine and tried things and none off us had upset stomach.
the rooms are small,we didnt spend much time in there, we sleptin there and the beds are comfortable clean they only time we spent in there was to dress in the morning and changed in the evening and back to sleep why else would you want to speend time in a room on holiday.the shower went hot and cold and no shower hook botherd.
the hotel location its right on the beach but out the hotel complex theres nothing but a go kart track taxis to other places are cheep and i think safer than driveing yourself they seam to do as they like on the roads
the staff could not do enough for you but they do expect a tip but if you didnt they were fine with it. in the hotel the staff are respectful and not touchy etouchy to the ladys and girls out side the young men in shops cant keep there hands of them
entertainment didnt do much of the day time stuff coz that was round another pool to which we where. we spent the days by the big pool which was great for the young kids coz it sloped infrom nothing to 5 foot deep its big. the hotel was full and had no prob with space in the pool and getting beds and cushionsat 7 oclock in the morning then back to bed for an hour or 2. the entertainment pool looked good fun always something going on . on the beach there was jet skies

Just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Sahara Beach. Our party consisted of 2 adults, 2 young teenagers and 2 little kiddies. The location of the hotel is right on the beachfront and the complex was large but safe enough for out teenagers ( and their newly found friends) to go off and do their own thing. The little 'uns went into kids club on a regular basis , which gave us adults a well deserved break. The kids club team are fab, and the club itself runs for 2 hours morning and afternoon. Its really well organised with loads of activities for the kiddies.

The food at the hotel was good, plenty of choice...from fish, chicken, pork, pizzas, pasta and always chips. The pancakes with chocolate sauce were firm favourites with our tribe, who permanently walked around for a fortnight with chocolate sauce around their mouths and spilt down their clothes.

Only 2 gripes really....the public toilets were usually smelly and not that pleasant (Spain's standards of hygiene and cleanliness just seem a bit higher).... and the tipping culture can be a pain. The high tippers are shown better service, get glasses instead of plastic cups and are generally treated well. Yes, we tipped and yes, we got glass pint pots...but sometimes our waiter could get really grouchy until we gave him a tip to cheer him up. Ok, you dont have to tip much but sometimes it can get on your nerves tipping left, right and centre for each and every service...when on an all inclusive holiday you sometimes want to go around the complex without and money. Oh and yes some of the bar staff can be pig ignorant and downright rude...whilst the majority of hotel staff in general are all great, friendly, and good with the kids.

The weather was very hot, beach was fantastic. Water/beach activities were great for all.

This hotel on first entering it (peak season) seems a bit like a Butlins...but it really is great for families, loads to do for everyone, It's a buzzing hotel, full of energy.. but you can find quieter hideaway spots in the gardens, if you need them.

Finally the photographer outside the restaurant is fantastic. Paid about

This hotel is rated as a 3 star but we found it to be more of standard of a 2 star, which is in desperate need of a full revamp. The hotel is located away from all main towns so there is nothing to do or see at night unless you catch a taxi or you can put up with the below par entertainment.

The rooms are cleaned every day but we would recommend that you take your own towels as the hotel towels smell. The bar areas are not so good and the hygene of the staff that serve you is poor for exsample smoking while preparing food.

The food is very poor, the best meal we had on our two week stay was the plane meal coming back to england.

Iberostar sahara beach, skanes. While the rooms were very clean the toilets in the reception area were filthy. You had to battle with the flies each meal you
went for. We had two rooms and while we the parents had no problems with our room our children had a pair
of 80 euro trainers stolen, 35 dinars, a pair of sandals and another 60 dinars taken from a purse. We told the rep about this before we left. We are always
polite to anybody that we meet but despite this we
recieved only rudeness and the card was flung back at
you every time you used it. These people need to remember that they are there to provide a service to the people who come on holidays to their hotel yet they treat you as an inconvenience. We only got water
at the pool and beach bars for the whole two weeks as
both of these locations are filthy, flies on all the food. We have been to Tunisia before, staying at the Kanta hotel and we had no problems at this hotel. we will never go all inclusive again and we will never go back to Iberostar Sahara Beach again. By the way, we didnt get this holiday on the cheap, we paid 960 euro each for the two weeks.

We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Sahara Beach.

The staff were helpful and the cleaners just didn't stop. You would see the same ones cleaning at 11.00pm that had been cleaning your room at 9.00 that morning! The only thing that would occasionally let it down was the loos in the reception, but lets face it, who leaves them in a state in the first place? Ever likely the cleaners couldn't keep on top of them all the time.

I will mention the problem with the apparently 'local' groups of lads who sneak into the hotel grounds from the beach. You would very often see them escorted back out of the grounds by the security guards, but I was really dissapointed to see one guard take money from one group and allow them to stay. Admittedly, they generally want to use the lovely pools and watch the entertainment.

The are a small amount of cats around the hotel that one of the staff informed me are owned by the hotel, and they actually have vaccinated and neutered. They generally live in the trees and bushes but do come out when people tempt them. A lot of people actually do and feed but equally will run when scared away. I actually love cats and for any cat lovers out there, there is a little tabby cat with 344 tattooed in her ear (they tattoo them to monitor them)and she is a little sweetie.

The pools and beach are lovely and really clean.

The food was good. My family are very picky eaters and they found something every meal. My son loved the chocolate pancakes.

The rooms are clean and bright. We had two connecting rooms and had loads of space. We were in the very end building nearest to the airport and trust me, the noise is not a problem. I have seen write ups regarding the noise and I'm completely confused! I've stayed near noisier main roads!

Finally, the Entertainment!!!!! It was brilliant! I have to mention Madgi, Leelo, Maddie, Aribe, Kamara and Rico! These guys are amazing. They are non-stop entertainment. They work incredibly hard and for people who don't appreciate this, slating the entertainment, I think they are being unfair. Ok some of the nights entertainment were a little cheesey, but you have to appreciate the work that they do. We would watch them rehearsing in 95 degree heat in the afternoons, putting on daytime fun and frolics, running dance lessons and water aerobics and then putting on a performance at night! The whole team are brilliant! Thanks again to those mentioned, they really made our holiday. They would even come to say hello when they were 'off duty'.

I will definately go back to this hotel. I'm told it's closing after summer 08 for a big refurbishment, but I would go back regardless.

Hi there.

Let me first start off by saying that this hotel is an excellent property for families with children. I usually go with my "other half" on couples holidays as my daughter stays with her mum but this year we took her with us.

Normally I wouldn't touch this type of hotel with a barge pole because to be honest, it just isn't my cup of tea but as I said we travelled as a family and this is the type of client group which I think this hotel is best suited for.

This hotel is situated on it's own private beach. There is absolutely nothing in the resort of Skanes except beach based hotels, so if you like a wander into town or along a promenade in the evening, then forget it.

The hotel has 4 excellent outdoor pools and one indoor heated (even in July!) pool. There are 7 bars (at last count!) not including "Bar 51" on the beach which isn't included in the A.I. package.

There is a very large dining room which is split in two, a creperie, beach bar which does food and a Pizzeria (not A.I.).

The entertainment is worth a look. There is a very large outdoor area which must seat about 1000 people with a great big stage.

Some of the great shows include the Lion King, Grease and Michael Jackson. Please bear in mind that these shows are put on by the animation team and not professional performers and you will have a great night.

There is a hotel run kids club which runs from 10.00 -12.00 and from 15.00 - 17.00 every day except Sunday, so this leaves plenty of time for the grown ups!

They have a varied programme for the kids so they should be quite happy there.

I think the hotel copes very well with the amount of guests that it caters for but I found the choice of food to be very lacking and quite repetitive.

I stayed in the Iberostar Averroes in Y. Hammamet a couple of years ago and found the food to be great but then again it has a fraction of the guests that the Sahara Beach has.

I found some of the staff, particularly on reception to be rude and unhelpful. The hotels public areas were very clean unlike my room, which was supposedly cleaned every day.

Cleaner broke my alarm clock and tried to disguise it, so bang went her tip!

Our room was a room for two with an extra bed stuck in, so it was a little bit cramped and also there wasn't much storage space. One problem was the noise. Doors banging all night, kids running up and down, shouting and playing "chap door run away" and the cleaners start at around 7.30 AM and they don't care who knows it!

The biggest problem that I encountered was that while it was easy to get a lounger at most times, it was very difficult to get one with a parasol (they are the thatched type), so I found myself having to get up at 6.00 AM to sort out our beds.

I must say a big "Thank You" to our rep Sarah who was very good. Very approachable and was great for any info etc. we were looking for.

I'll cut this short as I could be here for some time! but to summarize, I would definitely recommend this hotel for families with kids who want a hotel based holiday with lots to do.

We stayed for a fortnight but one week would have been plenty.

Recently returned from 2 fantastic weeks. There was three families with 5 children (10-13 yrs) and we all had a great holiday.

The weather was fantastic during our stay nearly reached 50c. The beach was amazing but make sure you take your flip flops as the sand gets VERY hot. There was security on horseback going up and down the beach to warn off any hagglers. We had no problem with them during our stay. The watersports are a must as they are only
