It was kept spotlessly clean all day and we had clean towels every day we wanted them.
The pools were cleaned every day as were all of the surrounding gardens.
We ate well for the whole 2 weeks. Although there are some strange choices at times, chips and mixed veg for breakfast, there were also plenty of things you would expect and it was hot and well cooked. The only thing we noticed was the amount of times that eggs were available, boiled scrambled, fried and omelettes were there at practically every meal.
The hotel is right on the beach which is beautiful white sand and just a short walk from the pool area.
In the main the hotel staff were excellent and very friendly, the only exception being the Telegraph Bar near the pool. The staff frequently served French speaking customers first and if you complained your food was thrown along the counter at you.
The entertainment team are brilliant, they work so hard, very long hours for very little pay. Organising pool games as well as belly dancing, aerobics and evening shows on the outdoor stage.
Having read previous reorts about this hotel I was not looking forward to the holiday but overall we have had a fantastic holiday that was brilliant value for money.

Our children ages 12 and 16 were kept happy at all times. Our youngest was happy swimming in the pools which were clean and safe and our eldest joining in the pool activities such as water polo and rugby, and also in the disco at night with all the friends he made.
We were happy sitting by the pool and at the beach, where there were numerous water activities (at an extra charge.)
The evening entertainment was poor and very repetitive and if you are looking for lively evenings this is not the hotel for you.
The rooms were cleaned daily, fresh towels supplied and our cleaner even laid out our daughter's night clothes in different shapes and arranged her teddy etc.
If you have small inquisitive children then the balconies are a danger, the doors can not be locked and there are plastic chairs and a table which make them even more dangerous (the hotel has 7 floors!!)
The food! a good effort is made but it is repetitive and strange at times - green beans for breakfast! but plenty of choice for all and no flies, and our waiter 'Selme' was superb. It was my 40th birthday during our stay and he put flowers on the table and even decorated a cake!
Altogether a good, clean and friendly hotel- and I am a very fussy person!!!

daytime entertainment ok based around anamation pool plenty of games to join in with. evening entertainment awful inside a very crowded inside bar with only enough seating for a quarter of the guests staying ,shows started at 10pm over by 11pm, or 9pm finished by 10.15pm.nothing to do if you cannot get a seat inside.
hotel staff very rude and did not really want to serve you ,all inclusive card only allows you to get 1 drink,so stand in a long queue for a coffee and then rejoin the queue to get water.
A RAT ran accross my husbands foot at 5pm by pool on 1 july 2004 lots of unhappy guests. flies crawling all over cooked meats and cheeses in restaurant. flies swarming around outside food bars, twice had a pizza with cooked flies in.all inclusive card no longer valid on the day we returned home.
I would strongly reccomend that you do not stay at this hotel. on coach transfer to the airport for returning to the uk, all the coach gave a loud cheer glad to be leaving sahara beach.

We went to our room and agree they are not the largest we have stopped in but were adequate for the purpose of sleeping at night. Airconditioning was a god send and made everything very comfortable.Taking in to account this is a developing country we were pleasantly supprised.
We went to the Caravell Bar on our first night and the staff were very friendly so we tipped. Taking in to account the volume of people the bar staff have to serve they can be abrupt but a simple please and thank you smooths the way.The following morning we went to the restaurant and were given Habib as our waiter for our stay. He was a 5 star waiter I even confirmed to his manager how please we were with his service. Food was great but you have to be prepared to try different things otherwise you will just live of chips/rice chicken or sausages. We all tried everything and did not have a bad meal throughout are stay and had something different every night. We did Tip our waiter in the morning and at night. They only earn about150 a month. we gave him 1 dinar each occassion which is about 45p.
The entertainment staff for the hotel were excellent and again very friendly the shows were mixed some excellent some good and some not to our taste. The hotel has 3 pools but be prepared to either pay security to put your towels out or be prepared for a 15 min disturbance in your sleep to put your towels out for a good spot. What do you expect when the hotel holds 2,500 people.
We only went on the agent arranged trips but heard good reports on the Camel ride which seems excellent value for money.
If you want all mod cons and don't wish to get on with the hotel staff then we would suggest you go to a developed country.I had no complaints about the hotel and would recommend it to anyone. If we decided to go back to Tunisia we would chose this hotel again it is a 3 star so do not expect 5 star quality.

If you are planning to go on a singles holiday or a couples holiday I would reconsider. The entertainment is mainly based around children at 10 yrs under. There is nothing at all for adults to do except drink (if that is what you want). Looky for us the football was on at this time and we had a few hours of entertainment to pass. The main downside to the complex is that parents just let the children run around all day long and at night they are just as bad way past midnight.
When we arrived it was 30 degrees and we were informed that the a/c would not be switched on until the following week when it was their high season. This was very disappointing, because of the mossies that flew in your room you could not leave your door open.
The food is very basic and did not have much variety. We can say though that the service by the waiter 'Munjay' was very efficient. One comment we noticed was that the 'yellow coats' were always arguing with the waiters in a very loud voice and was rather disturbing. Going back to the food, well where do we begin. We both came down with a bug over the two week holiday and most of the other guests in the hotel did aswell. We think that the main reason was for the flies that are constantly flying around the food. The horse stables are quite close to the restaurant and this causes the problem and they could do with a fly zapper to sort the problem out.
The hotel rooms are always very clean and tidy and the maid did not move around any personal items. She was very helpful and pleasant and spoke very good English as did all of the hotel staff.
The hotel surroundings were very nice and clean aswell apart from the cigarette smoke. They could do with opening the entrance hall a bit more and having more doors to open in the Skanes Bar - which is the English bar. We mainly went into the Dugga Bar which is for the Germans and this was a lot more open and friendly.
The hotel location is fantastic regarding transfer from the airport. It is only about 5 mins away. That is it though. There is nothing to do in the area, but you can catch the 'Noddy Train' and go to Monastir and Sousse which are quite nice.
The zoo on the comples is not too bad, but a bid small for some of the animals. The monkeys are very funny, but looked a bit frightened. Pitch and put was fun, but could do with a lick of paint and it was really too hot to play tennis.
The service by the bar staff varied. The 24hr bar staff were very friendly, but the other staff were rather abrut and always threw your card back to you or said 'YES' very sharply.
Overall I do not think that we will be visiting the Sahara Beach Hotel ever again and not even Tunisia. Tunisia itself is very nice and has a lot of nice culture and historic sites, but as the saying goes been there, done that and got the t-shirt.

All we can all say is that we will never return to this hotel again, as it has become worse in the last 18 years and not better. We stayed on an All Inclusive basis, which was effectively a joke, and unless you like Pizza, odd Burgers and hotdogs, as well as chips for every lunch then forget it. Meal times in the restaurant were not much better, the first week, the food was bad, but edible, by the end of the holiday the thought of having to eat in the restaurant made us feel physically sick, it is very noisy which is to be expected, but for a so called 'Family resort' there was hardly any family entertainment, and what there was, was put on by the German reps...which i might add was very good.
So any good points.....the rooms were very clean, and most staff were friendly, and spoke very good English especially our fantastic waiter Mohammad, although some staff at the bars were just plain rude. I will not return to this hotel and will not recomend it to anyone.

Most areas in the hotel were kept reasonably clean. The toilets by the reception area could have used some strong air fresheners and a good clean with bleach.
The food was okay but the choice was very repetitive. More imagination would have been appreciated. Fly swatters on every table would have been appreciated too!
Hotel was right by the beach which was clean enough. However the smell coming from the camels and what they had left behind was not too pleasant. Also pestered by locals trying to sell you something. Never a hassle free experience
Waiters in restaurant were nice - tipped at end of each week. Bar Staff rude - never gave them anything. Entertainment zero: - in bed by 9pm most nights apart from when the football was on and up by 6am. Boredom is an understatement.
Took to horse-riding a few times which we enjoyed. Don't go to the Zoo - its cruel and sad to see the animals in such small cages.
I would never return to this hotel or recommend it.
