Location
The courtesy bus into town was not big enough or frequent enough, therefore was crowded. Instead of rushing our dinner to catch the 7.30pm we took our time and caught the "City bus"(40p)plenty of room, air conditioned and you got a seat. Just as good on the return.
The restaurant in the harbour was excellent(waiter service)The romantic cruise was good also.
Maybe not 5* but 4* We hadn`t any complaints.

We were put in the annexe which I can only say is not in the hotel grounds and the rooms are more like something at a holiday camp. They are situated above shops and bars, not the quietest places. These rooms are definitely not 5* (4* First Choice) more like 2 - 3*. We asked why we could not go in main hotel but were told that the rooms were only for up to 3 people but we spoke to many families who had 4 people in a hotel room.
The entertainment was diabolical and during the day it was virtually non existent.
The food was quite good to start with but it seemed to go down hill towards the end of our holiday. We went all inc, but it was far from worth it, it was more like full board with drinks if you could get them. The only so called snacks were served in the dining room 3-4pm but it was just what was leftover from lunchtime. You could eat at the beach bar but only drinks were part of all inc you had to pay for food. You had to get dry and dressed and go into dining room for all food nothing was served outside.
The bar staff would only bring you a drink when you had completely finished yours which was very difficult when there is a group of you. you end up ordering 1 persons drink at a time.
On the good side we met lots of nice Brits and the weather was beautiful - some day as high as 54 deg. very hot.

Well first of all me and my family got stuck in the annex building which was like a holiday camp room but the size was ok, but the maids were rubbish. Every morning they would come round and you had your bed sheet and then you had an orange top sheet and they would fold up the bed sheet nicely and then they would take the orange sheet and but it on the floor in a pile and not even fold it up...
Now for the entertainment at first for 13days of our stay in the day the animation team were hardly doing anything apart from the waterpolo, but then on our 14th (last) day they decied to start doing pool games and surfing but the night time enterainment was abit better.
Food was not very good at all.. an the staff were very grumpy.
The only good thing about this holiday was I met lots of cool people.

We had a good time but there were a few problems with the hotel. We were chucked in the annexe hotel which is across from the hotel itself. It was horrible, more like a camp site. They say it is a 5 star hotel. First Choice say 4 I would say (1-2). The room was a good size but very tacky.
The hotel itself is pretty clean and the food is ok. Not much on offer and basically every night the food is the same.
The location is ok, the sea is beautiful.
Alanya town is very big. The shopkeepers can get very aggressive if you change you mind about buying something.
Nearby from the hotel there is the Oba centre that is very beautiful, where people are not as aggressive. It is only 10mins walk away.
The entertainment is ok. The shows are alright. The best ones are when they bring up people from the audience
.
Around the pool there is hardly any entertainment. Every hotel I have been they have always done something around the pool. On the last day they started to do the group hotel dance around the pool. We were a bit annoyed as the next day we were leaving.
There are no snacks to have around the pool you have to wait till dinner and go in the hotel. You would be sent out if you weren

The food was OK but it was virtualy the same evreyday.
The entertainment was awful, it stated at 21-45 and finished at 23-15, by the time they had explained everthing you got about 45 minutes, there is a disco at 00-00 underneath the hotel but smells like a cespit and left after 5 minutes.
In my opinion I would give this hotel a star rating of 2.

The hotel was full of Dutch and German people, as was the whole of alanya. Don't go to this hotel expecting fun filled nights, because you wont get them. It took us 2 hours to play one game of bingo, because they had to say each number in 5 different languages.
Alanya doesnt really have much to do either, exept from sit in bar upon bar drinking.
Round the outside of the hotel there are 3 bars, Adanus, Blue Parrot, and Orange Grove, they are great. Try them.

The Grand Kaptan in my opinion is not worthy of its 5 star rating. Our room in the annex was a good size but that was the best thing you could say about it. It was shabby to say the least! We faced the junction of the two roads, the traffic died down between 2am&5am!
We had turkish residential flats facing us{complete with barking dogs}and to complete the set a building site. Oh yes, if you squinted a view of the sea in the distance.
The hotel restaurant is a joke, It's 37 degrees outside and theres no air con or fans,so even if your lucky enough to find something edible its too hot to eat it!

The food was a joke!! all you could see in some dishes was slop! Although the deserts were good with ice cream cones and pancakes with a lovely vanilla sauce.
The entertainment was pants!
The hotel was full of Germans, Russians and more! and it's not as if they were nice either.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
For us kids there was a kids club but I didn't go to it because I was too busy playing on the slides. They were really fun!
Overall I had an o.k time.

There was plenty of choice for everyone. Assortment of cereals, continental or fried egg and toast etc or fresh fruit and pancakes. The evening meal was soups or salad to start with good variety of cooked meat and fish and the best sweets you could wish to try.
There was a free bus service every hour to and from the Grand Kaptan into town and back every day so it was really easy to get into town, although it is just as easy to jump on a dolmus bus as they will pick you up from anywhere.
The entertainment group worked very hard around the pool with different activities like water polo, darts, keep fit, belly dancing lessons. At night they would do different shows with bingo and childrens mini discos up on the roof bar, and also a disco for adults in the basement.
My husband and daughter and also myself have all agreed that we will be going back to the Grand Kaptan next year. We have been to Turkey many times and stayed in hotels, but we all agree that you will not beat the Grand Kaptan for cleanliness, variety of food and the friendliness of all the staff.
