When we got to the Grand Kaptan Hotel the bell boy brought up our cases to the room for us which was nice.
The hotel was spotless and tidy, the pool area was clean and so was everywhere else you looked!
We had two seperate rooms in the hotel which both overlooked the sea and the pool. The rooms were big and very clean, they had big mirrors, hairdryer, air con, mini bar, a t.v with music channels but most of the other channels were in foreign there was also lots of storage space for clothes. The bed sheets and towels were changed every day and the rooms were cleaned daily.
The food was very nice, there was lots of different choices.
BREAKFAST: toast, jam, honey, pancakes, fruit salad, melon, scrambled egg, fried egg, sauage, mushrooms, tomatoes, different meats, cheese, cereals and lots more.
DINNER: soup, salad, chips, different choices of fish and meat each night, vegetables, mash potatoe, gravy, and lots more.
PUDDING: there were lots of different puddings each night, some nights you could have ice cream cones, panckaes or doughnuts, there was also fruit every night.
over all the food was lovely how ever the chips wernt always hot.
The hotel was out of Alanya town but there was a free bus from the hotel into town and back every day and night, it took about 10 minutes to get there, there were always taxis and dolmus buses around as well so if you missed the bus from the hotel you could still get into town easily. If you didn't want to go into Alanya at night time but wanted to go out of the hotel there were two pubs near by, the Blue Parott and the Orange Grove both were good and really friendly.
There is a underpass by the hotel pool which takes you straight onto the beach, on the beach there is a place to eat and also activites to go on like jet skis and banana boats. You could also play volley ball if you wanted too.
The pool was nice and big music was played daily around the pool, but if you wantd to get away from the music you could go and sunbath in the gardens which were very peacful. You could go over a small bridge in the gardens which lead you to the annex this was where the water slides were.
The staff were really friendly and most could speak good English, they were always happy and polite.
The entertainment was pretty good, in the day time by the pool there were lots of different things you could do such as: belly dancing, arobics. darts, and water polo. At night time the animation team would put on different shows, such as bingo, leather shows, snake shows and lots more at 12.o.clock there was a disco you could go to down under the hotel.
Inside the hotel you had a wrist band which the waiters scanned when you brought something, then at the end of the holiday you just paid the bill off in one go. Inside the hotel there were shops, a hairdressers, t.v room, pool table, table tennis, computers, fitness suite, and a place where you could have a turkish bath, face masks or massages.
There were alot of foreign people in the hotel but I think there were the same amount of Englishe people as there were Germans, most of foreign people were friendly and didn't ever bother you.
I really really really loved this holiday!!!! we will most definitely go back next year and I can't wait!!!!

Long journey from the airport to hotel, although we had the fastest turnaround ever, our luggage was waiting for us on the carousels when we got there. At the hotel bell boys took our luggage up and we were given the option to have breakfast, we got there at 10 to 10, breakfast finished at 10am, it started at 7am. We decided to give it a miss and retire to our rooms to catch up on some much needed sleep!
The rooms were fantastic, as already mentioned, king size bed, single bed, two chairs, table, tv, mini bar, loads of storage space, fully tiled bathroom with bath and power shower, plus a decent supply of toileteries. There are safes in every room, for a 20 lr deposit, from reception, you're given a magnetic bar to activate it. Our room was in the main building, with views of the pool, sea and the castle in the very far distance.
I was a bit dubious about the wristbands, but there was no need, we spent about

The Grand Kaptan is a clean hotel in a nice peaceful area, there are some small bars near to the hotel, the Blue Parrot which was ok and the Orange Grove behind that, does good food and to our amazement has an estate agents. Indeed, have brought plenty of brochures back to England to look at as we are going to view some properties at the end of summer, and hoping to stay in the Grand Kaptan then.
Would definitely go back the Turkish people are lovely

The entertainment is very poor although the entertainers do try hard. During the day entertainment is ok it is the evening entertainment that sucks. We went once but did not manage to stick it out.
Although the hotel was good with a free regular bus to the resort centre, the location was in the middle of a massive building site with flats on either side that will overlook the hotel bedrooms later in the year.

Rooms.
Very nice lots of space good bathroom, lots of storage space cleaned regular by a lovely maid.
Restaurant.
Do not go all inclusive the food was repeated so often you can set the menu yourself after 2 days all tasted ok just ok and this was 5star.
Staff.
Wonderful staff, real friendly try to make you enjoy yourselves. Cannot do enough for you all smile at you and most speak at least 2 languages they work a lot of hours and we could not fault any of them.
Location.
Very out of the way. Real long transfer. Free bus into town the beach is dirty and you get people trying to sell you stuff whilst you try to sit in the sun. Be pleasant but firm and they eventually go away.
First Choice rep.
The rep is Karen she is the best rep we have ever had with First Choice and we have travelled with them a lot. She is knowledgeable about the area and tells you all you need to know. Whilst there our son got an ear infection and had to go to hospital. Rang First Choice office and Karen phoned us back, she was waiting at the hospital when we got there and stayed until we were ok with what was happening. After she checked several times that he was ok like I said the best and I can't thank her enough.
Wrist bands.
These are put on and zapped each time you have a drink an ice-cream, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, basically anything. Be aware that on all in not all is included and on half board if you don

Rooms - Our room was lovely and definitely of 4 star standard. It was very similar to Hilton Hotels which I have stayed in in England. The bathroom was beautiful, good shower and marble from floor to ceiling. The rooms were cleaned every day.
Food - We found plenty of choice and the food of a good standard. However, the decor of the restaurant did not match its 5 star rating, although it was very clean and depending were you sat had lovely views.
Staff - All were pleasant and helpful and wanted to practice their English on you.
Entertainment - Oleg holds an excellent morning streach class, well recommended. We're not great ones for evening entertainment, however Oleg did try to do his best to get people involved and give them what they wanted.
Location - On the seafront, however, there is a main road that runs between the beach and the hotel. This was quiet after 11p.m. Hotel bus into Alanya was great. We personally prefer to stay on the outskirts of the resort, so this hotel was great for us. We like walking and it takes approx 1 hour to walk to the harbour and you can walk to Dimcayi picnic area in just over 2 hours.
If you want to see Turkish village life the walk to Dimcayi is great.

Overall perception on arrival
A large hotel placed outside of the main resort. This is not a problem as transport via bus is extremely cheap and regular, even late into the night..
The hotel is very clean and well decorated, and staff are mostly very friendly. On arrival, you are told that you cannot spend cash in the hotel and are issued what can only be described as what looks kike a large watch battery on a wrist strap. This is credited with 1000 euros about

We enjoyed the roast beef - done perfectly, [with gravy!] There was a fish choice every evening, and usually chicken or lamb on other evenings. Rice or pasta was available but the potatoes were usually chips [ideal if you really can't survive 2 weeks without!]. They also made an attempt at providing a 'low fat' option which looked pretty unappetizing and usually consisted of boiled rice or potatoes, boiled fish and plain veg. Desserts were plentiful too - and very sweet!
Our room was in the annexe and although the hotel was classed as 4 star+ I would probably consider the annexe rooms to rate only a 3 star. Yes, they were clean and towels were changed daily; the room was huge - we had a double and a single bed, 2 huge armchairs and plenty of extra space - but it lacked that 'certain something' that you would expect from a 4 star hotel.
The main building, however was all polished marble and brass and the staff were very smart and friendly, despite very few of them being very fluent in English. There did appear to be a majority of Germans and Scandinavians in the hotel, with even one or two Russians - as Brits we were definitely in the minority!
The pools were very clean, and, being situated in the annexe we were ideally placed for the pool with the water slides - it
