Beaches could be cleaner with a lot of effort from Didim Belediesi. Resort was in full swing with lots of bars and karioki for us youngsters.Best karioki bar in Altinkum was Pinochio`s.NOT PEYDA Aas that short FAT WELSH GUY would have you believe!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beach was quite shingley once past the shingles it was lovely.Would go back again.Would not go back to Peyda unless we knew for definate that a new team would be to take over. This is what is needed ,.

Altinkum itself was a really nice resort. I particually liked the beach and watersports and stayed there majority of the time. Friendly locals and good nightlife, plenty of resturants, bars and clubs.

The resorts beaches were lovely especially first beach, although if you didnt want a beach quite as busy third beach was good too. There wasnt much entertainment around, we used to go in sky bar quite a lot which was really good. I visited again a month later but thats it for me in Altinkum now, i wouldnt go back.

There is a restaurant on the way to town from the Sultan called Casserole and one of the waiters looks like Uncle Fester out of the Adams Family and the other one looks like Tin tin. I can recommend the food there its excellent and quite cheap and the staff are very friendly. I can recommend A "julie special" which consists of a chicken schnitzel with cream and mushroom sauce on it was to die for. Its not on the menu but if you ask uncle fester or tin tin they will know exactly what you want.

Out skirts of resort very untidy but in town v good. Loads of bars, restuarants and shops, although beware of the very pushy shop keepers - don't be afraid to say 'no' or haggle with them. Great if you want to pick up designer gear and dont mind fakes! Beaches lovely and even some good snorkelling and diving to be done. Visit the 'Temple of Apollo' by local dolmus (bus) very cheaply and arrange other trips with a company such as 'Oracle Travel' (3 offices throughout resort).

The resturants all served the same boring bland food. Very expensive. We were accostted by waiters as we walked along the road calling us into their resturants. They were very hard to avoid. I can't tell you how rubbish the food and wine was. Glass everywhere on the beach. Ugly place. Never again.
(Weather fantastic though)

Altinkum needs your cash and thats all they are interested in. Chronic exchange rates nicely cartelled around the resort. I just didnt see the great value for money etc that everyone raves on about, main courses £7-9, £4.5 for a scotch, starters £3, icecream £2!!!!! and so it went on. If you just want ripping off on food and sitting by the pool or on a beach and shopping and drinking this is for you, its dearer than Europe and alot dearer than UK.... so the value for money bit is twaddle. The resort Turks seem to think we are all rich!
We blew our budget big time as meal prices very expensive and for the money not that good.... We went 300 yards up hill and paid half the price with nicer staff.
Beach crowded and dirty, Beach 2 & 3 Ok.
Good shopping for fakes but the hype re a major bargain is just that...HYPE. Silver shop in shopping centre excellent as was the Jesus shop for watches.
Basically the resort is Blackpool but more expensive to eat and drink.
Get out the resort and its a different world (we are talking just a few KM here...) We were spoiled, respected, charged Turkish prices, helped and fussed over... We had a wonderful holiday by travelling out of resort by car and bus. Meal for 8 was 100-120 Lira, nice empty beaches, very friendly locals who could not do enough for us where ever we were.
Go to Turkey by all means but see the real Turkey as its superb.
I do a lot of international travel and will finish on this note, The Turkish resorts are expensive for what you get, £7.50 for a beer and £5 for a can of Coke in Bodrum airport.... dearer than Hong Kong, Singapore etc by far.... just another rip off.
IF YOU ARE GOING TO TURKEY GO TO THE REAL TURKEY... ALTINKUM IS BASICALLY A HOT EXPENSIVE BLACKPOOL... which is fine if you are young with lots of money.
Going back to Turkey but it won't be a big resort that I go to. The resorts let the turkish people down.

Altinkum is a lively & entertaining resort. Lots to do. Usual boat trips etc. Beaches are clean. Lots of fantastic bars & restaurants. Queens Head Bar & Restaurant highly recommended, opposite Tuntas Hotel. Staff are fantastic, helpful & friendly. Sunday lunch recommended with the best Yorkshire Puds anywhere thanks to Bruce & Billy. Lots of shops & markets in the area. Mavisham night market recommended. Guaranteed a great place to holiday if you have the right hotel. Ezra Hotel, Seabird or more upmarket the Tuntas Hotels are recommended.

There are plenty of bars and restaurants to pick from to eat or just to drink. The best restaurant that we found to eat was Nigels, the food quality was very good and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The best entertainment that we found was in the Cheers bar, there was dancing, and quiz, and staff were friendly. If you dont want to go far from Esra then Zanzibar across road is great. The lads there work really hard and are really frindly, especially Alex and James. If you turn left from hotel and go 5 minutes down road opposite Zanzibar, you come to a lovely little beach, with clear blue sea, the only down side is that it is a bit stoney at first when going in water. We went on lazy days boat trip twice because it was so good (booked through rep, but make own way to boat for about 9.15 to get a top deck sunbed), the sea is gorgeous, and you stop off about 7 times to swim, and have a nice lunch of rice and pasta and salad and beef burger type things (got really good tan those days). Would definately visit Altinkum again!

Its a building site around Altinkum, during the week that my family and I stayed we did not see any entertainment. The beach was a two minute walk from the appartments and were ok. No I will not be going back to Altinkum again, neither will i recomend it to any one else.
