You can catch a dolmus for around £2 to altinkum which is about 5 to 10 mins away. On an evening it is impossible to walk past any bar, shop or restaurant with out being pitched to. Apparently it is now illegal in turkey and the premises could be shut down, but altinkum they seem to forget this. Down the road from the hotel ,about 5 mins walk along the unlit, half built footpath which was full of pot holes and missing curbs is the fair which had about 10 rides and various stalls

We were in Olu Deniz 5weeks prior to this holiday and felt that the resort would be hard to beat but Altinkum ticks all the boxes. There are 3 beaches, all are sandy and have plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. 2 beds and an umbrella costs 12TL. Locals identify them as beach 1,2,and 3.If you are centrally housed then you are close to beach one. Beach two is within walking distance but beach three requires a trip on a dolmus costing 6tl for a round trip for two.The beaches are ideal for families with children because the water stays shallow for 200 metres out. There is no tide therefore the water is crystal clear. There are plenty of places to eat, whether its fast food or restaurants.Pint bottles of local lager (EFES) costs 4TL, steaks or local specialities cost no more than 23TL (£10)each.Pasta dishes are between 10-15TL.Most restaurants give a free starter consisting of a large turkish bread with a side plate of garlic butter, salsa and a dip.The temperature in July was extremely hot 40-45degrees.The transfers from Bodrum airport is about 2 hrs but this includes a sheduled stop for refreshments and the toilet.

Very lively place with almost 24 hour entertainment availabe, but be prepared to be dragged into restaurants by men wanting to shake your hand!
Clean sandy beaches with some rocks near the shore but than it becomes sand again when you walk in further. Shallow calm waters, but the beaches get very busy.

It was only a 10 minute walk into the town centre, do be prepared for alot of hassle, we found some of the shop staff to be very rude if you did not buy anything. Main beach and beach 3 is very busy and we always got hassle on the beach, we prefered Kamachi beach, which was quieter with no hassle and had it own friendly cafe. The fair ground is great value for money, each ride was 3 lira and the rides lasted a lot longer than the UK rides. We have been to Turkey previously, different region, but dont think we will be going back to Altinkum again, it was just lacking any atmosphere and there was 12 people in our party, and all out looking for a good time which we just did not find in Altinkum!!

Altinkum as a whole was very nice, plenty of shops and restaurants and bars, would reccommend Cheers in Dolphin Square and Ali G's for eating!!
Taffys British Boat gives good value for any Boat trips as well.Only thing to watch out for is poor pavement quality, lots of trip hazards!!
Would come back here.

Altinkum is the english version of blackpool, especially between july and august, the busiest place ever. There sre some great places to eat and the beach is lovely, but again, it is very busy. I would not visit this resort again.

the resort is great it has something for everyone.this year tho the beach was a little messy it is usually so beautiful but if all us holidaymakers tidied up after ourselves then i suppose it would be a different story. bignose bar is a great place to go and the parasol foam bar. lots of lovely places to eat and the boat trips are great too. i just love the place.
