Gumbet is a very lively and commercialised.
If you are looking for night life then this is the place to go to.
Most of the bars were clean but I had the misfortune to have my bag stolen in one of them.

Gumbet has a lot to offer with many restaurants, bars, boat trips and excursions, and all establishments fiercely compete for your custom which can eventually be a turn off, especially when you’re being approached day in day out by the same people.
The beaches I found where very clean with waiters regularly coming round to tend to your every need. The boat trips and excursions are a must as the resort is quite small so it was always nice to get away and see new and interesting surroundings. (Try the ice cream waffles!!)
Bar street can become a little hectic but fun with all bars trying to out do the others in a battle of sound systems and who can be the loudest.
Restaurants are in a abundance, I tried to make sure I was going to the busier ones as this is always a good sign, but saying that there a few smaller quite places to go where the staff are very friendly and the food is very good with "Kenny's" being one of them.
Overall I have enjoyed Gumbet, its a good destination for cheap getaway with everything you could want whether it be an authentic full English breakfast with real HP sauce or a opportunity to submerge yourself in true Turkish culture.

Gumbet is great lots to do and lots of fake things to buy have fun bartering with shop owners and if you friendly to them they will be friendly to you.
Lots of resturants to eat in highly recommend windy bay and calypso to eat in.

Gumbet is like a small Blackpool. There are a variety of bars and restaurants offering a wide range of cuisines to suit all tastes, but very little in the way of authentic Turkish food. The people are all friendly and we found a nice little bar that had Sky Sports and were willing to let us watch the Ryder Cup all day!
Bodrum which is only a short bus ride away is a much nicer resort with a historic castle and harbour.
This was my second visit to Turkey having previously stayed near Fetiye. I found the excursions rather limited in comparison.
Bodrum airport is very expensive charging £2.50 for a can of coke so take your own food and drink!

Gumbet is lovely. So much so we are contemplating buying a house there one day! Plenty of bars, restaurants, specialist shops and little ditty places that you will find when you go....
The pavements are a little un-even so take some sturdy shoes when venturing into town, the pubs are varied (We like Smilers and Mermaid for the dancing, and Wilma & Ken @ the Corner house for breakfast when sleeping in!) Warning about the X-bar though; we heard some bad things about there, all the hotel staff go to Shakers but late on at night, all pubs are fine but you pay when you leave, so be careful and keep an eye on what you order...
The Beach is a little to be desired, rather small and not very inviting, seems clean enough but you won't want to bury Dad up to his neck in it... There isn't much entertainment for younger children at night I'm afraid... but the hotel is situated perfectly so you hear little noise from any of the surrounding resort. The Dolomus's (Local buses) are ace - you have to try them. Turgetris market on a saturday is well worth a visit, Bodrum is very nice, but Halikarnas (Big open air nightclub) is only worth going to in high season, it is very quiet otherwise. Go to Dalyan and get muddy - its one of the grossest things you will ever do, go and see Pammukale it's amazing, see Efes - just go...!
Only bit of advise is, be warned if you go to Marmaris - it is nothing like Bodrum or Gumbet and is very full on - only go there if you are not easily insulted.

There is plenty to do in Gumbet, the night life when we went at end of September was a bit quite but there was still plenty going on in the bars to keep you entertained.
There is also lots of nice restaurants which serve wide variety of food and food and drink is very cheap £7 for 3 large beers & a vodka and red bull!!!
Dinner was usually about £50 for four of us which was a 2 course meal and drinks.
The beach is shingle but the bars provide free sunbeds as long as you by one drink (coke, water anything) there is also plenty of nice restaurants & water sports along the beach.
Gumbet isn't the cleanest town and the pavements are very high and uneven so you do have to watch your step but the Turkish people are extremely pleasent and made our stay worth while, they do try to get you to look in their shops but they are not aggressive and don't pester you a simple no is accepted by them.
I will definitely return to Gumbet in the near future and have recommended it to my friends.

Entertainment in resort is ok if you like music blasting out 24/7.
Beach is only about 30 feet from water to pavement not as nice as picture.
Water sports good boat trip fantastic and some good tours to do.
