Beach not good, manmade but covered in tab ends. Sea water on beach not clean but find a small bay and its green and clear.
Plenty of great bars ALTERNATIVE CAFE BAR,ATLANTIS but great night out not overun by 18-30s.
Penty of shops and yes we would go again and to same hotel!

The resort is quite a good looking resort,The beach is a shingle beach,There are plenty of shop for the odd bargain, there is plenty of eateries with a wide variety of foods e.g T-Bone steak, chips, mushrooms and onions for £10.Plenty of places to visit close by and a good aqua-park.

We stayed in Gumbet and found the resort to be very clean. The beach is very narrow and not the best but similar to other beaches in Turkey. However, despite this the resort is very beautiful and definitely one of the nicest in Turkey. The evening entertainment however, is very poor and a great disappointment.
We visited Gumbet three years ago and although we found the resort to be expensive then, found it to be a total rip off now. In some places more than £3 a pint. Also, there are lots of souvenir shops/markets etc; but most are unwilling to barter much off the price. We also noticed this year that there are no prices on many items including menus so they can charge as much as they like. Moreover, my advice to anyone thinking of going to Gumbet would be to take either euros or sterling as they prefer this currency. This means that if you pay in lira, the exchange rate is higher in Turkey so you pay even more.
As far as I am concerned the Turkish have got too greedy and as a result I would not go back. Besides there are plenty of other nice places in Europe to visit.

The beachfront is much nicer and more laid back than Gumbet resort itself. There is a good selection of bars and restaurants. We stayed at the La Luna Hotel all inclusive so only ate out twice, but when we did it was always good.

A very clean resort with clean and tidy beaches and shopping and bar areas.
A wide variety of bars, restaurants and clubs can be found and many have special deals on, so shop around for the best deals and value for money. We can recommend he following restaurants which we have been using for 8 years. For Turkish cuisine Saray Zetas - excellent food and excellent value for money. China Town Red is an excellent chinese restaurant which also serves other international dishes.
Bombay Cottage is a superb indian restaurant which as well as a varied menu, has an all you can eat buffet and is great value for money.
The Columbia Steak house is and excellent venue for steaks as well as serving othe value for money set meals including drinks.
For tasty snacks, if you do not want a huge meal, or following a night out try Papas or Papas place, 2 excellent kebab and pizza houses.
All of the staff in the above, and indeed most restaurants you visit will become old friends and greet you warmly as such each time they see you.
There are many venues for a good night out, catering for all tastes. A night at Smileys is great fun. Also for a fun and entertaining night pay a visit to Town Talk to see the Dreamgirls Show - One of the best drag artist shows we have seen and we return year after year.
One more thing we recommend is a Turkish bath and optional massage. Although hotels in resort provide these, we would recommend Raola situated in Ortokent who can be contacted direct or through a rep and will pick you up and drop you back to your hotel. Although a little more pricey than some Turkish baths, if you want to feel truly pampered this is the one to try.
Another must for the men is a Turkish shave (with a cutthroat razor!!) and haircut which is a whole new experience, and the ladies need not miss out as the unisex salons also provide hair wash and cut/highlights/ pedicure/ manicure and a full range of any other beauty treatments to make you feel pampered and all at a much cheaper price than you would pay at home.
We feel that Gumbet, although expanding all of the time, still has something for everyone and we will be returning next year for the 9th time and hopefully for many years thereafter.

This was our first time in Turkey and we were very pleasantly surprised! We found Gumbet to be much better than we expected. It is a fairly hilly resort and would probably not be suitable for someone with walking difficulties. Also, I couldn't believe how steep the kerbs were! However, this wasn't a problem for us. The beach was clean and a welcome relaxing retreat after walking the 'gauntlet' of traders trying to get you into their shops/bars/restaurants every day. This annoyed me for the first few days, but I soon got used to it and we even ended up having a laugh and joke with most of them as we passed by. Our favourite restaurants in Gumbet were 'Planet Yucca' and 'The Mandarin' where we became very friendly with the staff. We also enjoyed drinking at 'Barracudas' on the beach front where the bar staff were great. We booked all our excursions with Jeanette (ex-pat) at Tweety Travel on the beach (next to Barracudas) at very reasonable prices, and we also made great friends with 'Tom the Turk' who worked alongside Jeanette and organised boat trips. His boat trips were excellent value for money at £10 each for a full day trip, including a tasty lunch and afternoon tea with cake and biscuits on board. It really was a lovely day out at sea where we visited tiny islands and hidden coves.
By night there is an abundance of bars/discos/nightclubs etc to choose from, or if you prefer, plenty of restaurants, sometimes with a live singer or group where you can enjoy a quieter, more relaxing evening.
There are plenty of shops in Gumbet, all selling designer gear or, as the locals call it, "genuine fakes" at very cheap prices - which are even cheaper when you manage to haggle the trader down to his 'bottom-line' price!
In all, Gumbet has something for everyone. The locals are extremely friendly,(perhaps slightly 'over-friendly' at times when I wasn't accompanied by my husband!) but with the fantastic hot sunny weather, combined with all the facilities you could possibly need, you couldn't find a better resort for a wonderful all-round, fun-in-the-sun holiday.

GUMBET
Restaurants/Bars: We found that Gumbet really could cater for everyone. We tended to stay away from bar street as with two young children this was a bit rowdy for them (and us!). If you don’t like that kind of thing stay in the main restaurant/shpooing areas or head towards the beach. The first night we decided to eat at Café Colombia, mainly because it had a playground! The food was nice, and my steak was delicious. We also got a free bottle of wine with this meal. Throughout the week we ate at Caspers – which was really nice and very reasonable – the doner kebab plates are massive and very good vale at 10YTL (£4), Golden Dragon – ok, service very slow, and both my boyfriend and I had a bit of tummy trouble the next day!, Aloha – very good, very cheap – free 1st drinks or free bottle of wine + free ice creams for kids! And last but not least KENNY’s – We wanted to say a bit more about KENNY’s as we thought it was a really special place, and definitely the best food and service in Gumbet. It’s in a farily quiet setting and is quite small so unlike many of the other restaurants we ate at it’s a lot more personal and has a nicer feel to it. To get to KENNY’s from the hotel you need to go left out of the main entrance, down the intersection road and then down the hill that is straight in front of you (there is a sign on the corner of the road). KENNY’s is at the end of this road on the left hand corner. It is opposite Coco’s. From the other side of town turn down the street with Uncle Festers on the corner! During our week’s stay we went to KENNY’s twice – we would have probably been more but didn’t find it until two days before we were due to go home  Both evenings we spent there were wonderful, the food is glorious – try the mousakka or the meatballs, and for desert you have to try one of the pancakes!! Everything is really fresh – even the chips (our son – aka JIMMY CHIP’s fave!) are home-made (not frozen, like most of the other places!). They serve everything you could want from chip butties to the best traditional Turkish food After our meal we were even brought over a platter of fresh fruit – melon, orange etc!! The staff there were brilliant with both us and the kids and really could not do enough for you to make sure you had a good time – bringing the kids their meals when we had our starters so we could enjoy or main meals in peace while they played golf (KENNY’s has a small putting green in the middle of the restaurant!!). Our thanks and best wishes go out to everyone there who made our holiday so special – Romeo? Aka “Gumbet Charlie”, Shaun aka “Toilet Paper Head”, and Kenny. Eating out is fairly cheap for what you get our evening meals cost around 70YTL for 2 adults and 2 kids (starters, mains, kids meals, ice creams and drinks) that’s about £28!! The most we paid was out last night which was around 100YTL (£40) but we had lots of starters, the most expensive main dishes, large deserts for all of us and quite a four or five drinks each!!
Days and Nights: We went to Bodrum one day which is a very pretty town, with a good-sized market on a Saturday, a very nice harbour area (lots of sailing boats) and loads of shops and bazaars. We also booked a boat trip and the waterpark through Exon travel agency near the Sami Plaza Hotel which was very cheap compared to Thomson prices (to go with Thomson would have cost us twice as much!!). The boat trip was great with plenty of opportunities for swimming in the sea and a stop off at Camel beach – both kids rode the Camels (10YTL each). We booked the all inclusive trip which was good value for money at 12YTL for adults, ½ price for kids and free for under 6’s. They provide all drinks, lunch (which was nice) and apple tea and biscuits later on. Our day out at the waterpark was also good fun, and the food prices here were OK – kids meals were 6.95YTL (£3) for a choice of the usual stuff eg. spaghetti bolognaise, chicken doner etc + a large ice cream! However drinks were fairly expensive at 2.75YTL (£1.10) for a small coke. Most of the shops sell the same kind of things – bracelets, jewellery, charms, shoes and clothes – just make sure you haggle on the price! You do get a bit of hassle from both shop and bar/restaurant owners, but a firm no thanks is usually all it takes. We would never just ignore anyone again as this does seem really rude – a quick hello, and no and keep walking is all it takes – Turkish people see it as there responsibility to get people into their shops to make their living so you just have to accept it as part of their culture.
