Las Vegas Holidays

Las Vegas, AKA Sin City, is approx 10 and a half hours on a non-stop flight from the UK, currently available with BA and Virgin from London and Virgin from Manchester.

There is so much more to Las Vegas than gambling. It is a foodie paradise with top class restaurants as well as cheaper options to suit every budget. The entertainment is also world class with everything from full production shows to one man comedy shows, magicians, hypnotists, ventriloquists, variety shows, tribute acts, headliners and the famous Cirque du Soleil productions.

Gambling caters for everyone from the low roller on penny slot machines to whales on the table games. Drinks are complimentary while gambling; just make sure to tip at least $1 per drink and you can order anything from cocktails to coffee.

The hotels are entertainment in themselves as they all have their own themes and attractions. Where else can you visit Paris, Egypt, Venice and Rome in the same day?

Must sees are the Bellagio fountains, especially at night, the Grand Canal at the Venetian where you can ride on a gondola. There are also thrill rides 1148ft above the ground on top of the Stratosphere tower and a roller coaster at the New York New York hotel.

If you can book a run of house room at a very reduced rate then I would recommend it as the rooms in the Bellagio all seem to be of a great quality. Obviously, try and get a fountain view room to see the fabulous fountains that perform all the time to the crowds.

Make sure to visit the famous Ellis Island next door. Their steak specials are legendary. Food and drink is very cheap and mingle with the locals in their karaoke bar- I hate karaoke normally but this one is a lot of fun.

Well what can I say. The fact that this was my 8th trip says it all...

For a sun worshipper like me you just can't beat the weather from mid May onwards.

Even after many trips the hotels, casinos and hotel shops provide many many hours of entertainment. There are also the outlet malls (eg Belz, Premium Outlets etc) for serious shopping bargains.

Considering the size of hotels and the number of people passing through the standard of tidiness and cleanliness is very good. There always seems to be someone polishing floors and doors! You feel guilty for using them. Same goes for the buffets, what could be an unhygenic mess is the exact opposite. Food kept hot, is replenished frequently and the serving areas are kept exceptionally clear of drips and spills.

And then of course there is the sights! The Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon. Great trips, great experiences both. particulary the Canyon - breathtaking. And there are so many areas to vist and ways to do it - a must see in some way for everyone.

Las Vegas - entertainment capital of the world!!! And boy, was it just! Absolutely loved it. Great shopping, great eating, even great drinking (although prices varied by hotel). We loved The Mirage - went to one of their bars nearly every night as they had fantastic live bands on. I fell in love with Caesars Palace and the Forum shops - couldn't keep away - and I have my credit card bill to prove!

So much to do and see. We were there for a week, but could easily have stayed longer we loved it that much. Can't wait to go back again.

Las Vegas is clean and safe (in the strip area - not so good'downtown' but you might only want to go there for an hour to see the Freement experience - do it!) and evrybody walks out at night. No problem.

See above for entertainment - some of the best acts in the world at appropriate prices. Most hotels also have some free/low cost entertainment displays, circus acts, tigers, dolphins etc. A big part of the entertainment is just walking from hotel to hotel seeing what is going on!

In early March, the weather was early 20's. You need sun protection . It gets cooler in the evening but not so much as to need a jacket. What to wear is more to be determined by whether you are going to be in air-conditioning or not!

Nearby, of course, is Grand Canyon, Fire Valley, Hoover Dam, Lake Mead. All fabulous!

We often stay in Budget of America. Rooms with kitchen, besroom and sitting area.Lots of locations both around strip and further afield. Tee one on Paradise is nice. Good clean pool. Allday coffe in reception. On Cat bus route and now has the monorail running from elevated station outside lobby.Daily bus passes can be obtained from driver on bus $5 but prove to be very cheap even to run up and down the strip as each journey of a couple of stops cost $2. They can be used to get to both outlet stores. Also Manor suites. South beyond airport but 3 busses available to get you downtown or on strip. All have web sites
