Oi!
Less of the *old* please!
Nah he is a good 'un.
(He'd be soooo embarrassed if he knew I was *discussing* him on here! )
just ment when my baby is 15 i will be alot older.
sorry!,
he he if they only new what us mums got up to
just counted my copper jar got £105 to buy myself something nice in the duty free ,next time one copper jar and one £1 jar and can really buy myself something nice and it's great getting a nice surprise when you count it all
I know you didn't mean me - I was pulling your leg!
My kids would be mortified if they knew some of the things I got up to....
But....what they don't know doesn't hurt them!
Myra, that's wonderful! Well done you!
I'm going to start doing this saving malarky.....soon!
Definitely the best way to save up for those hols, we do it all the time!
Every time I tidy round and I find loose change, it goes in the "Retirement fund" savings pot I
bought my hubby (for a joke) a few years back.
And any 1p, 2p and 5p coins I bring back from the car booties go in there too.
It's a start I suppose.
I got one for my husband a few years ago and he saved £400 in it in mostly £1 and £2 coins - was lovely for holiday spends!
Really must get another one.
They are on sale at the moment here:

I have also upped the holiday fund account standing order and have realised that I haven't used it this year and may get away without using any of it for my hol in September. Chuffed about that and intending to not touch it then will know for sure that this pesky credit crunch won't deter me from holidaying next year!
When you get to £100, buy a batch of Premium Bonds, and you never know you might win a prize in the meantime.
You can cash in the Bonds in time for your holiday.
I did that once on a "buy now pay later" computer purchase...and won £50
I had premium bonds bought for me as a newborn baby and not once have I won...
We have saved £1 +More.
Its not been easy.!!LOL
BUt it has been fun seeing the Bairns , keepin the spirit going.
My ex boss used to get cheques virtually weekly from his. Then again he did have the full £30k entitlement.
Yet again no £2 coins in my purse so I put 2 x £1 in my clown money box yesterday. I was almost going to say to the lady at the shop 'can you give me the change in £2s?' when I realised how ridiculous that would have been when I could just chuck whatever I happened to have in there. Durr.
I know a man who got some money from and insurance policy and put it into PB's and the first draw they went in he won the Million.
I haven't had any £2 coins for ages either but then if we are all saving them they will be in savings boxes all over the country. Started to save £1 coins now as well just to keep the holiday spends going.
Out of all the loose change I've saved so far. I've got about £60. I just add to it when I've got to much change in the purse. And it's just myself adding to it. Will keep adding to it over the next year or so, see how much I get and use it during one of my trips.
We bought 4 tins for a pound each and in each tin we put silver 10p upwards in another £1 coins in another £2 coins and in the last my beer money for when im away so any spare cash goes in ther on our last hols we broke open the tins and we had £870 in total what a way to save for ur hols, nearly all our spending money in four tins
Thats realy good chris ... i have just been out and bought 2 tins... a year of saving to go
I'm one of those people who go out with notes, get change, and then go out with notes again next time. At the end of the week i've seen me tipping £10-£15 into the savings at times!!! Ok, that's not every week, but boy does it mount up
Put some more quids in my money box over the weekend. Getting into a routine with it now.
Undecided whether to use this lot for Xmas and then start again for next summer. Wait and see how the money is at the time I guess.
