Just looked in my jar, & hubby has robbed it and put a ten pound note back instead - that's not on :rofl

You'll have to hide it somewhere secret! As for the shortage of £2 coins, all contributions gratefully accepted!

I put my first £2 coin in for ages yesterday. I just don't seem to be getting them much. I chuck a £1 in every now and then.

I did have to rob it the other week due to an unexpected trip to A&E and car parking issues and not knowing how long I would be.

I put back in what I hadn't used though.

I won £49 on our work bonus ball for the lottery so that's going in to the tin. It's money I wouldn't have had so why not.

Any *slummy* (1p, 2p, 5p coins) I get from the car bootie money is now going into our savings jar. :)
After Christmas, I'm going to do my best to start the £1 per day.
(It'll go towards our extra holiday in October next year ;) )

go buy a tin that needs a can opener to open then you cant just dip into it when you feel like it you can save soooooo much!!! :) Also try getting 2 and putting £1's in one and £2's in anohter those £2's really add up soooo very very quick!!

I've got more than £50 in my money box now from saving £2 coins (though there are some £1s in there too as I went through a stage of not getting any £2).

It's not exactly £1 per day but it will make a difference come holiday time.

My 1st tin is nearly full, 5p 10p 20p 50p £1 + £2s
I cant wait to get the tinopener out in June and see how much we have. ( its not £1 a day but near it )
We also use old pringle tubs for our coppers and we are on to the second tub now.
Every little helps !!!!!.
:cheers Gink

It can get quite addictive. I got 4 back in change the other day and I was like 'yeeesssss'. :que :D

My hubby used to pay £25 a month for Denplan, but then we were lucky enough to find an NHS dentist so he kept saving the £25.
It soon mounts up and we only use it for holiday spending money.
It goes into a Nationwide flex account so we get the best rate in resort. :sun2

 I started "saving" £2 coins about 3-4 months ago - I have a grand total of £14! You just don't seem to get them anymore!

I put all my coppers in a big jar (used to have one of those huge Bells whisky bottles years ago - you don't get those anymore either...) not sure how much I've got in coppers, not going to count it until just before my hols. I'm thinking of starting another jar for 5p's, always seem to get a lot of those.

I remember saving in one of those 5 litre bottles of Bells. My wife asked 'what are you saving for?' and I said, 'another 5 litre bottle of Bells!!!' :D

We have one of those bottles! We collected all the cash we found on the floor when we were out and about last year and collected £6.12! It is in the bottle and we have started again this year. Not quite enough for holiday spends, we know, but it was an interesting exercise.... It will buy us 6 pints if we make it to Benidorm next year :que

Jackie, I'm getting the same way though I don't think I'll get anywhere near £500. My boss has just given me a £2 coin for stamps that I hold in the office. Just going to swap that for change in my purse - every one helps............. :)

We put most of our spare silver (below 50ps) into one of those tins and its great.

My mum and dad used to have an old Iron bed frame and the used to save £2 coins and £20 notes in the posts, though when they took it to the bank it was all rusty ha ha :rofl
